The MSU Vet Hospital has a traveling dentist who does teeth cleanings and extractions on certain days. After my experience, I would NOT recommend him. If you have to have your older dog's teeth done and your vet recommends having it done at a vet hospital (due to age or a health condition that makes putting them under risky), don't use this hospital. They should not be using this guy. Full stop.

After struggling to control our dog's skin issues and allergies we finally took him to see a specialist. I'll get straight to the point - Dr. Zhou and the entire staff are amazing. Dr. Zhou took his time to fully understand our concerns and also took his time examing Buddie. He actually recommended a different course of action that what we requested and we are so thankful he did. Buddie hasn't looked this good in years and the course of treatment recommended was less invasive and less costly than what we were planning on. We couldn't be happier with the care that
Buddie has received!

They killed our beloved 10 month old dog . Not only did they tell us he has to have surgery . They pushed his surger date back three times . Meanwhile charging us for this . After he go his surgery. He threw up and they let him go for almost 24 hours before informing us he was in very grave shape. At 2:00 am we were told to come up and see him he was on a breathing machine and never knew we were there . We had to put him down because they wanted 1000.00 pre day to try and I say try to save him with a breathing machine . This after charging us 3500.00 for surgery he didn't need Are you kidding me. Money is their goal not saving animals . Greed and money no concern on how they treat our pets. Run from this hell hole run get second options. Before you believe this hell hole.

Not a positive experience; especially given the astronomical expense to utilize this service. The vet had an obvious attitude for reasons unbeknownst to me. Communication was limited / non-existent. Overall, this is not a great place to be when you have the stress of an injured pet.

My family received a $1,500 bill this week for the care received by my 13 year old papillon who stayed the night at MSU'S emergency clinic last Thursday night. She was having bloody noses.
On Friday afternoon, I was making plans to pick her up with my mom. A few hours later, I was told she needed to be there until the next day. At around 10 o'clock that night, I got a phone call that she wouldn't make it to morning. Immediately, my mother and I started driving to East Lansing. We live just under two hours away. We didn't make it in time to say goodbye.
But who needs to say goodbye, when the staff can offer you their condolences and show you the snap chats they sent while holding your dog Maybe I'm just bitter that I wasn't there for my dog of ten years and that someone else was the last to hold her, but snap chats about how she was the first patient of their new ICU? Seriously? We took her to MSU because we wanted and expected the best for our dog. Not for her to be treated as a

Our little dog (5.5 lbs) went there for respiratory problems. We provided videos, and all of his current reports. The resident, who had very poor communication skills, suggested a series of tests, one of which involved a biopsy of tissue behind the nose. She called us to tell us that our dog needed an emergency MRI due to brain swelling during the tests. Before the MRI had completed she came to tell us that a large mass had been found on the front of his brain, which would most likely be inoperable-we were devastated.Less than an hour later she returned to provide us with the results of the test.As she was explaining the MRI she stated it turned out that there was no mass on his brain, but a hemorrhage caused by her during the biopsy. She was removed from the case, a discount was applied to our bill, but because of this injury our dog was never able to recover and was finally euthanized. The director's attitude was basically 'prove we it' by doing an autopsy. We decided to let him rest.

Brought my dog here at the recommendation of my regular vet. If I had listened to their diagnosis or plan of attack, my dog would have DIED from a bowel obstruction. Took him to another vet the next day and he had surgery for his bowel obstruction. He is still not out of the woods, partially due to us trusting MSU's opinion - the obstruction was in there awhile. With this condition, the day I wasted at MSU mattered :-(

We took our dog there for a bone fusion. He was released 18 hours later. As the student vet went over his release instructions with us she "mentioned" the dog ate one of the bandages, we should watch for a blockage. Then, after talking to our regular vet today, we questioned if the dog should have had a cast or splint. We called the small animal clinic and spoke to a "staff member" She not once asked us our dogs name or our name. Yes she insisted she had all the right answers. She was angry we even questioned what State had done. "We are the best of the best", she said. As I tried to ask a question she kept getting louder and louder and refused to let me say a word. My dog isn't "sick" But shame on her if she talks this way to a family with a very ill pet. We plan on calling the business office and taking this up with the surgeon. We didn't spend 4k to be yelled at over a simple question. I will not return for future medical for my dog.

I took my dog here for an emergency visit after he had been hit by a car. They took great care of him, and were always coming into the waiting room to let me know what they were doing. They went over his complete history with me and warned me of other injuries that could come from being hit in the chest by a car. They stitched him up and checked all of his limbs to make sure that he would be okay without getting e-rays which I refused because of being a college student. They sent me home with pain medicine for him and a prescription for an antibiotic that I got filled for free at Meijer. I felt that their service was great, and I even took my dog in before his stitches were supposed to come out because I was worried about an infection. They checked him out again for me and I was not charged. I felt the amount I payed for his original visit was very reasonable. I would recommend this facility to anyone and everyone needing immediate care for an animal they love.

My wife is a veterinarian and we took our pooch here for radiation treatment. I am thankful the cancer has not returned. I think their medicine is good but their staff, including the vets and top administration is shocking. And they are a teaching hospital. It is so sad that vet students are being trained from the worst client and pet CARE staff that I have ever seen. Like I said, the medicine appears to have worked, but their CARE was atrocious. All they had to do was simply apologize for their mistakes and inconsiderateness and we would have been ok, but after a year of dealing with them, we are through and I am thankful for this site to warn others of my experience.

these people and this facility is only interested in making the most money that they can, getting repeat consults for more money and to sell more medications, it is totally ridiculous.
