Click to report rating    7/28/14   4     4     4     4   I have been going to Columbia Animal Hospital since 1990. All of my dogs have been patients there for their entire lives. I am very happy with the level of service that I receive there. The staff has always treated me with the utmost respect and kindness and I believe that Dr. Bartlett truly cares about the wellbeing of my pets. He personally makes appointment follow up calls to check on the recovery process. During some difficult decision making times, he has always been upfront and honest with me and helped us make some difficult decisions. I would definitely recommend Dr. Bartlett and his staff at Columbia Animal Hospital. RID: 52769

They actually ran from the dog, leaving the syringe dangling in the vein during a blood test, because she cried when they stuck her. Also,I took my cat in for a possible bladder infection. I was using a litter that had a pH warning built into the litter (the litter turns purple when ther is a possible bladder infection. The vet actually argued with me, telling me that he didn't care what I or the bag of litter said, he insisted the litter was purple because it was covered in blood. I even had the used litter with me, it was neon purple, not even close to blood colored. They didn't test my cat for an infection, they just gave me a bunch of pain meds and antibiotics to give her. Purple litter continued so I went to another vet office. They actually tested her, she never had an infection. The litter was giving false positives. She was on medication for no reason. RID: 36422
Click to report rating    7/23/12   1     1     1     1   I just got back from my visit....my dog had a lot of blood in her urine yesterday it was bright red, this morning it was a dark brownish red, by 1:45 it was yellow. I called and made an appt. I specifically told them that I would only pay for the office visit and urinalysis and I would not pay more than $100. I get to the checkout and the told me I owed $375.00!!They then told me I owed $225 and that I could not leave the office without paying....I left a check on the counter for $100 and left...as I was going out the door the one girl said that he would bill me for the rest...I guess this one is going to the District Justice Office.....I should have known better----he already killed one of my other dogs----that is a separate experience and will also appear here shortly RID: 36009

Click to report rating    10/6/11   1     2     2     1   They killed my dog. First Dr. Bartlett made a medication era and gave us too high a dose of steroids for too long of her medication. Then another vet insisted we just stop the steriods without weaning her off- even though I protested, knowing what it did to humans, he insisted it would be fine so I listened. Then when I asked about her to be tested for diabetes they blew me off saying her sugar had been fine on her last blood work months ago. Well when I brought her in because she was getting sicker and sicker I was told she would be fine and was just "tired." She was so "tired" she slipped into a coma and died from adrenal insufficency (from stopping the steroids abrubtly) and from having a blood sugar over 1000. I eventaully took her to another vet who acknowledged that my dog was near death and not "tired." We had to put her to sleep to end her sufferring because at that point there was no coming back from the damage that had been done. They are horrible people. RID: 28126
Click to report rating    8/9/10   1     1     1     1   I took my cats to this vet for five years. When Dr. Randall Frey retired last year, I should have listened to my gut immediately and found another vet. Dr Robert Bartlett displays complete arrogance, no communication, ignores client concerns, staff has no idea what they are doing. I just lost a beautiful seven year old Siamese last Friday and I know this so called compassionate vet had much to do with it. He knew the cat had CRF, did not tell me, and went ahead and put him under anesthesia. He only told me afterward. And on top of it, he tried to talk me into spending another $1,000 on a pointless test before I stormed out back in March. I know he did not GIVE him kidney failure but his practice certainly hastened my cat's demise. He might have lasted a year or even two, as it was, he died in five months, thanks to Dr. Bartlett. Bottom line - if you value your pets and your purse, RUN AWAY. RID: 19140
