11/5/13   5     5     5     4   I found the staff to be very helpful and reassuring for the most part. I brought my new, rescue dog in, late at night, for some very rapid breathing (turned out to be a pulmonary thromboembolism). After he was home, I called twice, as he was still rapidly breathing, and the doctor spoke with me and answered all of my questions and concerns. I did not find the cost to be too terrible. They have a $105 flat visit fee (which is a bit much, in my opinion as a poor grad student), but otherwise it was not too pricey. My dog had to get x-rays ($160) and his medication was not too much. They were very efficient and helpful - they showed me his x-rays and explained what was going on and sent his records to my regular vet. There was no waiting to get him in - they immediately took his vitals, the doctor interviewed me, took his x-rays, then talked to me about the diagnosis and treatment. Payment was at the end. Click to report rating    3/12/12   5     5     5     5   When I had to take my dog to this clinic after a substitute vet at my regular facility failed to diagnosis her aspiration pneumonia, one of the vets happened to be standing behind the receptionist. I hadn't talked for more than 15 seconds when this vet gently grabbed my Tasha from my arms and took her into the back so that could immediately hook her to oxygen. There was no talk of moneyor anything else... There was immediate concern for my dog. Unfortunately, my Tasha died within 12 hours, but it was not for lack of care on their part. They did everything that they could for her. They showed me the x-rays. They explained why she was unlikely to recover, and if she did, why her situation was precarious at best after that because of what she had been through. And they explained to me why she was suffering -- in a compassionate manner that made me understand why I needed to make that decision that I never wanted to make. They were wonderful. RID: 32836

Click to report rating    9/16/09   1     4     1     1   The clinic is a large newer build and looks very nice. The staff there is rude and the doctors only care about your ability to pay. No work was done on my animal until I signed an estimate and put a deposit down. I felt like I was purchasing a car. Then after all that they only keep animals until 8am and then you have to transport them back to your vet. The stress of moving my sick dog was unspeakable. How can moving an animal from one place to another that sick be reasonable and they say they have compassion. I am not sure where they keep it or when they display it because my dog and I never show so much as an ounce of their so called compassion. RID: 14283
Click to report rating    4/27/09   4     5     5     5   We brought our 16 year old Golden Retriever to the CDAEC for what we knew was for a final visit. Bear had a seizure that resulted in his brain to become inactive. We rushed Bear to the Clinic and were greeted by staff that were very attentive. We were given all options, and Dr. Carol Pabin was absolutely the most wonderful person to help Bear go to his final resting place. I would never hesitate to refer her to others. RID: 12592
Click to report rating    2/22/09   5     5     5     5   Based on my past experience with an emergency clinic downstate, I was reluctant to use this service up here. However, our visit to CDAEC tonight was such a good experience that I would strongly recommend this clinic and its services. Dr. Lindsey and the staff were compassionate, caring, and helped my 18 year old cat to take his final rest after he was too uncomfortable to go on. The staff did everything to ease the pain of this visit, and to ensure a good passing for our buddy. I could not have asked for better care & kindness. RID: 11759
Click to report rating    7/19/08   5     5     5     5   Our dog received outstanding emergency care by Dr. Gallo. We rushed our dog in on a Sunday night, 4th of July weekend. The waiting room was packed. Although we had to wait over an hour, the veterinary staff were professional and courteous, our dog was appropriately triaged and Dr. Gallo provided all necessary (and no unnecessary) services. Our dog had sustained a serious laceration, and Dr. Gallo did an amazing job suturing, inserting a drain, and bandaging the wound. The charges were not excessive for the services rendered. The dog has completely recovered with no complications. My only wish is that this clinic was closer to our home. RID: 9373
Click to report rating    5/27/08   5     5     5     4   I took my cat to a vet at a different clinic on a Saturday after 3 days of him not eating and vomiting. That vet was not able to find out what was wrong with him but when I brought my cat to Captial District AEC, the vet felt his stomach and was able to determine that he had an intestinal obstruction. The facilities were extremely cleam. The staff was very knowledgable and caring. RID: 8616
Click to report rating    1/17/08   1     2     1     1   This place was terrible they mis diagnosed my dog and tried to charge $1000 for doing nothing for him. Because of the mis diagnoses, my dog had to have unecessary surgery costing almost $2000, this place is rediculous and I do not recommend it. RID: 6988
Click to report rating    10/16/07   5     5     4     5   We have had the unfortunate experience of having 2 of our Senior "babies" put to sleep within a few months of each other this year and due to the circumstance of each, this is where we came. They were both emotionally crippling experiences for us and thankfully we found both times the staff were compasionate, professional, quick and they showed our babies more love than my regular vet. Money was'nt as high on thier prioritys as was the care my pets recieved during their final moments. As for the price....be realistic please people, its emergency care with state of the art equipment and licenced trained caring professional.Would you take yourself to a back alley doctor for heart failure, cancer or if you were hit by a car. Both times we recieved personalized sympathy card. As much as I would not want to have to go back there, it would be my first choice and I have recommended it to others. RID: 6152
Click to report rating    8/15/07   2     4     2     2   Well my dog had gotten hit by a car and we rushed him in. they just looked at me and put him on the table brought him to the back about 3 mins later came out and told me he died. not blaming them for that but they charged me 300.00 dollars and they did nothing and wouldn't give him to us till we paid this was haertless. And not sure how approx 8 mins of there time cost that much. they did nothing. RID: 5606
Click to report rating    7/31/07   4     5     3     3   Dr. Wey is amazing. he's a cardiologist. and I really feel like he has saved my dogs life. he was even booked for two months, and gave up one of his lunch hours to help our dog. he's a very sweet and caring guy. they might be a little expensive, but they're worth it, they know what they're doing. Click to report rating    4/30/07   1     4     1     1   This place is a nightmare. I experienced the worst level of incompetence imaginable including the death of my pet at their hands. Empathy, "bedside manner" was non-existent. While I agree that it is reasonable to pay more for emergency care; during my protracted stay in the waiting room I heard the receptionist repeatedly tell callers and walk-ins the charge just to have their pet looked at before anything else. I saw many heartbroken people turned away. It certainly does seem like money comes first here. To add insult to injury, don't expect to receive your deceased pets body until the bill is paid in full...in a black plastic bag, at that. How caring. RID: 3696
Click to report rating    12/17/06   5     4     4     1   As with any emergency clinic, the cost was very high. But, they were able to help us get through the night. RID: 1324
Click to report rating    11/30/06   5     5     5     4   They saved my dog's life. Incredible vets. This is one hospital where you get what you pay for. Bring your credit card-this type of intensive care is expensive. My dog required two blood transfusions and two plasma transfusions. Then she needed surgery to place a tube to allow her to breathe after she woke up. The bill was over 3,000.00 but my dog is back to normal and that is priceless. These guys really work as a team. RID: 984
Click to report rating    11/22/06   5     5     5     3   It is expensive, but the care that the animals receive is amazing!! They truly care about the animals that they work with. RID: 855
Click to report rating    11/7/06   5     5     5     5   Just to comment on the cost...its an EMERGENCY clinic. What do you expect? If you went to the ER or urgent care (without insurance) youd pay a LOT of $$$$ as well...get pet insurance if youre worried and dont base your opinion on co$t!!! Pets deserve the best care, like a human. RID: 542
Click to report rating    10/30/06   5     5     5     3   When I had to bring my recently adopted older dog in for tests that my regular vet could not perform, Dr. Wey was great. He unfortunately had to deliver the heartbreaking news that it was terminal cancer. He was very thorough in helping my husband and I understand the situation and what we could expect. A few days later, we had to bring our dog in at 3am and unfortunately, make the difficult decision to end his pain. The staff was caring and considerate of our feelings. A few days later, we received a note from Dr. Wey expressing his sympathy. It is a little expensive, but I would have thrown any amount of money at that cancer to make it go away. RID: 349
Click to report rating    10/27/06   5     5     4     5   When I initally too my min pin here beacuse of labored breathing, I had to wait awhile for them to see him. They felt that he didnt look that ill. When a vet ended up walking by and saw him in so much pain she quicky looked at him and rushed to care for him. She found out that he had pneumonia and quicky worked to get him comfortable and hooked up to o2. The clinic worked with my vet to get him transferred back and forth to care for him and gave him the best overnight care possible, encouraging me to call at any time of the night for an update. Although they are an emergency clinic and sometimes very busy, they are able to give your animal the best care possible. RID: 242
