We had to go here because it was the weekend and the only place that would take him. He was pooping blood and throwing up. In total it took 9 hours before we left. After 2.5 - 3 hours we were going to go to a elsewhere after waiting but then he had a seizure and they took him back but acted like it was a big inconvenience. We waited and waited with no one saying anything or seeing him so my mom kept going to the front staff every so often to see what was going on. I put a muzzle on him because he does not do well with some people. When they finally went over his bloodwork(all they did) we were finally able to get him back but he had a cone and gauze around the neck part of it. He looked terrible and when he lifted his head we saw marks around his neck. He previously had bloodwork done at his normal annual exam and it went fine like it normally does there. It was not only a bruise like this place suggested but it had dried blood and looked terrible where the gauze and cone was.

I am posting here because Google removed my 1 star review no doubt because NVH pays them to remove too many bad reviews. Compared to my normal veterinary hospital, they charge 2-3 times the amount, which is criminal. They pressure you into doing every diagnostic test under the sun which right off will cost over $1200 Then when you do pay for all the diagnostics, they still do not know what is wrong. Now they want to hospitalize your pet for another $3000. Then guess what, now you have to euthanize your pet because nothing helped and they still have no clue what happened. This scenario happened several times to me at NVH. Unfortunately, I had to come to this place for emergency care. My last visit was so horrible that I hope no person ever has to go through what I did. The wait time was insanely long and we were the only people there. The exam room was disgusting. There was dog hair matted all along the corners of the floor. The counters were filled with dust. It smelled musty. When I

We had been going to a vet in central NJ for cancer treatments for our dog. After explaining our situation and making an appointment, we were told that they cannot help us and sent us back to Red Bank. We paid $400 to be told that they cannot help us. They did take bloodwork and urine that could have been done at Red Bank for almost half the price. The office manager, Karen, was extremely rude on the phone. We felt deceived by their web site. Karen said that, "they are not Red Bank." Their web site appears that they are a full-service animal hospital, capable of handling everything. They don't even stock the cancer medicine that our dog needs and had to order it that same day from Red Bank. Karen the office manager also told me that she was not willing to meet me in the middle and that they "provided a service" despite that service being subpar. I wish we had known this prior to going. They seem to be very greedy and not willing to make the customer happy.

I took my 2 year old Maltipoo there immediately after I discovered she was unable to walk. They wanted to run tests but before doing so, they told me that she probably had a neurological condition that could be treated if i paid between $4,000-$5,000. I declined, as that cost too much and I couldn't afford it at the time. They said they could treat her using other methods. I left her there for a day and half. They said she started to look like she was regaining use of her legs. I went to pick her up, they never told me what could be wrong with her but they gave me a bill for over $2000. They said she should be fine and would be able to manoeuvre with the use of a cart. My beloved dog died literally the next day. Newton Vet Hospital are only interested in money and not pet care. Please stay away.

I have been to this place twice with 2 of my dogs. The first time I took my one dog there he was seriously ill, they did a ton of tests and said he had an infection. They sent me home with antibiotics and a bill for $1200 the next day he was worse so I took him to my regular vet, Newton had given me the WRONG antibiotics for what he had. My regular vet kept him overnight and the next day when I picked him up he was back to being his happy self and they only charged me $400. The second time my puppy had a seizure and I brought her there as an emergency. Again they did a ton of tests and then told me that they would keep her in ICU overnight and a $1500 bill, when I picked her up the next day I was reviewing the bill and they had given her 5 bags of fluid in 12 hours? she is an 8lb dog, that is not possible. They charged me $75 to give her pepcid. I could have done that myself and watched her myself. They don't care about your pet. All they want is money.stay away from this place.

Newton Veterinary Hospital and it's crew are Thieves!
Bottom line, just stay away from them. I took my dog in for a routine visit and walked out over $500 lighter in my wallet.
The real kicker is that they don't tell you what they are going to do and the associated cost(s), so it's a real eye opener when you go to check out.
They are over staffed, and making YOU and I pay for the ritzy building and the 3 or 4 folks standing around in the reception area. $500+ is their standard charge for very minimal service and with absolutely no explanation.
There are plenty of truly caring and understanding Vets out there, Newton Veterinary Hospital Isn't One of Them!
I'll never take any of my pets there again.

Doctors more concerned with getting paperwork signed than treating my dying pet. They are clueless. I will never go there again.

I have used this hospital on several occasions with mixed results. The way they handle the money aspect is tacky at best. As far as the doctors I think it all depends on who happens to be on duty. Communicating diagnosis, treatment options, and listening to their customers needs room for improvement. I have also experienced a couple of the vets to be very condescending. The facilities are nice and reasonably clean. Wait times can be lengthy depending on how busy they are. Open 24/7 is a plus. I might also add they have a very friendly and professional midwife on their staff and found her to be a breadth of fresh air

I took my dog to Dr. Monica Ilardi at Newton Veterinary Hospital for an intestinal blockage and was told he either had to have surgery at a cost of $2900 - $5600, or be euthanized immediately. She was clearly angry with me, I believe because I hadn't sought surgery sooner. Since my dog was not showing signs of being in pain, I declined either choice until I could talk to my regular vet, and more importantly my family. Thankfully, the dog began defecating and eating normally the next day, and I had xrays taken to confirm that the blockage had cleared. Two days later, the ASPCA came to my home with a charge of animal cruelty based on my refusal of medical treatment. Fortunately, it was apparent to the investigators that my dog was doing well, and he has been in good health in the five months since. I need to note that I don't believe the vet's recommendation was wrong - an intestinal blockage is very serious, and we were very lucky to have the issue resolve itself.

Exceptional care for my dog at 2AM. Can't believe what they had to offer - better than most human hospitals! My dog was able to get a life saving blood transfusion! Doctor was thorough, explained my options. Staff was compassionate and kept me calm during a very difficult time. Kept me informed about cost so there were no surprises. Highly recommend this hospital-my dog is alive thanks to them!

this must be a vet clinic for the rich, their prices are astronomical for the simplist visit or exam......forget minor surgical prices!.......the front dest "kids" are no more helpful than other clinics' "kids"..am i the only one who hates talking to kids about my pets' care and appointments?....does anyone know a vet today who will charge reasonable prices?

Great facilities and great experience overall. We see Dr. Stanley Bladek who is WONDERFUL, extremely knowledgeable, has a great bedside manner, and is flexible about different styles of pet guardianship. A bit pricey for routine care, but the facilities are top notch and they are open 24 hours. I found them very accommodating.
