Click to report rating    9/20/19   5     5     5     4   I think Dr. Shreves and his staff are absolutely amazing! My cat was hit by a car and severely injured and he was the only vet who would even take him. My baby was nearly gone when we got there and after a week in Dr. Shreves care he’s doing a million times better. He still has a long way to recover fully but I know I can count on this facility for all my babies needs. Thank you!!! RID: 68570
Click to report rating    8/24/17   1     1     5     1   This office killed my cat. I took a healthy cat there for a runny nose and 2 days later my healthy 7 year old cat had a sudden death. The doctor's office STAFF got nasty with me when I called them to find out why my cat died suddenly (PURE SIGN OF GUILT). The vet said oh he must have had a blood clot that stopped his heart. Are you kidding me???? His heart was fine 2 days prior when you listened to it! There is no doubt my cat was contaminated with something from there nasty dirty office with their nasty dirty mats they re-use. They allow animals to walk around freely in their office and approach the sick animals that come in there. I completely blame this office for the death of my cat! I wish I had walked out with him when that's what my gut was telling me to do and maybe my baby would still be here with me :( DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL THERE RID: 64503

Click to report rating    5/9/17   5     4     4     4   We have been taking our dog to Dr Shreves for about 10 years and have always found the staff very professional and Dr Shreves very competent. My only bad experience was for an emergency visit during normal business hours and they delayed treating my dog for a minute - first asking if I'd agree to an $85 emergency fee. It seemed heartless at the time when my dog was in full seizure and I was near hysterics. In hindsight I understand it is a business but maybe save the emergency charges for off hours. Costs are already more than ample to cover expense of care. Overall I would give high ratings for the care and professionalism we've enjoyed in the 10-12 years we've gone to Pottsgrove Animal Hospital. RID: 63587
Click to report rating    3/2/16   1     1     1     1   The doctor is the most greedy and ignorant person I have ever met. Do not take your animals here. He does not treat them with kindness and he only cares about money. I have seen the way he handles animals behind closed doors and it is abuse. I have seen him treat not only the animals but the employees and customers with abuse as well. The hospital is filthy and unsanitary. For you and your pets safety. DO NOT GO HERE. RID: 59922
Click to report rating    10/14/15   1     1     3     1   On Monday Sept 21 my daughter & I took our 8 yr old dog to Dr Shreves office for an $85 emergency visit.. Her breathing was alittle weird, she was favoring her back legs, not eating, drinking excessively, running eyes & overall not herself. The Dr. came into the exam room acting very annoyed. He did the fastest exam of Gertie & stated he wanted to draw blood & take a Lyme test. He left the room to get meds .on returning to the room my daughter & I questioned him on the exam ..asking more question ..he threw his hands into the air saying to us "to get her back up on the table" my daughter question him some more & he got very belligerent to her calling her a " know it all" what veterinary school did you go to" i have NEVER gone to his office and ever been treated this way by him or his staff. The arguing continue into the waiting room where the Dr. had server all other customers in there. His sister Deb also got very loud & rude with us. I will NEVER take anymore of my animals to him. Click to report rating    5/18/15   1     1     1     1   I agree with previous reviews - the Dr and staff are rude!!! I was charged an emergency visit during normal open hours and there wasn't even an animal in there. But because I had no appointment I was told it was an automatic emergency visit charge. They could care less about the animals! RID: 57045
Click to report rating    4/22/15   1     1     1     1   I took my dog here for an emergency visit due to an abscessed tooth. Dr. Shreves was very rude and seemed annoyed he had to come in and see me. I was a client here so it's not like I just called some random place for an emergency visit! He was throwing his keys around when he got there and even rolled his eyes at me when I asked a question! I have never been treated so rudely and will never go back to this practice. Considering he looked at my dog for 5 minutes and charged $275 I don't understand why he is so angry to see emergencies! He gave me a quote of $500 for treatment. I went to another vet and had great customer service. I also got all the treatment done for $234! Not only is he incompetent and rude he is also a ripoff! Save your time and money and find a vet that is caring and knows what he is doing! RID: 56743
Click to report rating    4/14/14   2     2     1     1   If you love your animals, you take them to the vet for their check ups. I love my pets. I took my cats to this vet for all of their shots, flea meds, and check ups. Once I had an emergency the treatment from this vet drastically changed. ALL he cared about was the upfront cost of the needed procedure. I got him the money. My cat was "treated" and my family was told there was nothing else he could do after days in the vets care and basically we needed to take him home because he was going to die. If we left him at his facility, it would cost even more money. We brought our cat home. He was so swollen from the fluids they pushed into his system for days. His nose started to bleed and he still seemed to be in the same pain. I took him to another vet, to find out my cat WAS NEVER treated. My three year old cat died due to a UT blockage. The new vet (free) did an autopsy to give our family answers. Needless to say we got them elsewhere but we paid for services that werent done! RID: 51037
Click to report rating    10/18/13   1     3     3     1   the vet is great but the STAFF lies. They do not tell you about extra fees until you are there. RID: 47711
Click to report rating    2/5/13   1     2     2     1   We took our dog in because he had an eye infection, and Dr. Shreeves preformed all these tests. He never diagnosed a problem, he just said give him these medicines. Now a few months later, our dog had another eye infection so we took him to Dr. Sharma and he told us it was because of dry eye syndrome. Dr. Shreeves doesn't seem qualified to even diagnose a simple problem. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone, most of my extended family feels the same way. RID: 40190
Click to report rating    2/2/13   5     5     5     5   Love love love this place! We have 6 cats and 1 dog....I have nothing but awesome things to say about Dr. Shreves and his staff. We recently had to put one of our cats down and the care and compassion that the office showed us was amazing. RID: 40121
Click to report rating    1/18/13   1     1     1     1   AWEFUL vet. This place should be shut down. So many aweful things happen to people who put their trust in Dr. Shreves. He's a total a**hole and treats owners and animals like complete crap! If you love your animal never take them here! RID: 39741
Click to report rating    10/22/12   1     1     1     1   What a total as**hle this guy has become. I took my mom with her cat who was obviously in extreme pain to this idiot on a Friday night on an emergency basis. On top of being totally rude, he completely ignored the fact that she was hurting and just kind of patted us on the head, gave the poor little thing a bunch of meds and sent us on our way to the tune of $254.00. The next day we took her to Dr. Sharma and he took one look at her without x-rays or any other expensive testing and knew what was wrong. We had to have her put to sleep but thankfully it was not by shreves and his ignorant arrogant attitude. I have taken many of my cats and my 2 dogs to him over the years but I will NEVER EVER again call this poor excuse for a doctor. If he didn't want to do an emergency call on a Friday night, he could have said that and saved my mom a lot of money. Luckily she didn't pick up on his total rudeness because she was so upset but I certainly did. Totally unprofessional and worthless. RID: 38007
Click to report rating    4/26/12   5     5     5     5   I have been taking my pets to Dr. Shreves for about 6 yrs. Dr. Shreves is very knowledgeable and he listens. I did rescue for several years and the dogs I was responsible for always got great care there. PAH also takes the Friends of Animals certificates which saves $ on spaying and neutering. The staff is friendly and scheduling appts. is pretty easy. RID: 33783
Click to report rating    6/22/11   4     3     1     1   very unhappy with my services here. took my bunny in for an emergency visit. doctor prescribed me medicines to give her, and she didnt even make the ride home. if she was that bad i would have thought dr. shreeves would tell me that the $200 i spent wouldnt be worth it. only in it for the money i suppose. NOT RECOMMENDED. RID: 25762
Click to report rating    12/5/09   3     3     3     3   Ten months ago our cat was rushed to this animal hospital because of gagging; he couln't breathe. He was put in an oxygen cage overnight. He was diagnosed with allergies by Dr.Shreves.3 months later he had another episode and went back again. After 10 months he still struggled to breathe, frequently gagging and coughing. My fiancee asked Dr.Shreves if there was anything else that could be done to help.He grew belligerent, yelling at her for questioning him.2 days later he went to another vet for a 2nd opinion. She suspected immediately it might be asthma(x-ray confirmed this)-it was severe. We were given the correct medicine and information to help him deal with his condition.Sadly, the stress of riding in the car brought on an attack and our cat died that night. How could something so out of control and so obvious be totally overlooked by Dr.Shreves? His reaction to my fiancee's concern was to yell. Our cat had chronic asthma and was being treated for allergies. We put our trust in the wrong Dr. RID: 15614
Click to report rating    11/28/07   2     2     1     2   BEWARE! This vet makes you feel stupid for asking questions, but yet has no answers! If you just need a simple check up, shots, spay, he can handle it. Don't ever bring a very sick animal to him! My animal spent three days with him, ran numerous tests, racked up a huge bill, and all he could tell us was that he "was unsure of what was wrong with him". We took him to another vet the following day and he diagnosed him within 15 minutes. RUN! RID: 6504
Click to report rating    4/20/07   5     5     5     5   I am the founder of Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue and our local foster homes take their foster dogs to Dr. Shreves at Pottsgrove Animal Hospital. The care given there is top rate IMO. I have been a client for a few years now. I had an after hours emergency with one of my own senior dogs who had to be euthanized. Dr. Shreves waited until I got there and took his time with me and my dog. I also like the fact that he is willing to accept Friends of Animals certificates for spaying and neutering. This is a great help to any rescue that struggles with their bank account. The laser surgery for spays and neuters speeds up healing greatly. Many of the dogs come home and you would never know they had undergone surgery. I recommend them higly. RID: 3576
