Click to report rating    9/24/18   2     3     3     1   We took our dog to Dr. Taylor regularly. Our dog had suffered a spinal injury last year but had responded well to Prednisone. When our dog re-injured herself on Wed, Dr. Taylor prescribed Tramadol. The prescribing guidelines specify 0.5mg to 4mg per pound for dogs and suggest starting with the smallest dosage and increasing as needed. Thus, for an 8lb dog, this means starting with 4mg. Dr. Taylor over-prescribed by dosing her with 25mg twice a day. When Dr. Tayor examined her on Friday, 2 days later, she said that "she looked like a zombie". We commented that our dog appeared to have suffered a heart attack, to which her response was that "She was too young to have a heart attack." Dr. Taylor's incompetence extends beyond failing to follow the dosage guidelines because the side effects of a Tramadol overdose include heart failure. Our dog's health declined rapidly to the point where we had to euthanize her on Sunday. She would have been 6 years old in December. RID: 66822
