Bastrop Veterinary Hospital — Avoid
On 4/30/26, my 13-year-old dog Lilli had mass removal surgery here.I paid $928 upfront for a bundle including the 2-week recheck and suture removal.
I requested an experienced surgeon. They assured me all their vets were experienced — a violation of informed consent. They assigned Dr. Rivera, who graduated in 2024. The surgical work was substandard: sutures failed within 24 hours, the E-collar was too small (their own notes confirm "CONE WAS TOO SMALL"), and replacement staples were unevenly placed with visible gaps.
Biopsy returned cancer (keloidal fibrosarcoma). When I requested the records by email, they gated my records by demanding I speak to the vet first, violating my rights under Texas law. When I insisted on my legal right, they emailed the records and terminated my account in retaliation to my request.
They abandoned a 13-year-old cancer patient mid-treatment and refused to complete the post-op care I already paid for. Board complaintfi

We were in the process of moving to Bastrop, TX from NM, and stopped to drop off our truck at U-Haul. I saw a small dog huddled under some pallets, shivering from the cold. Bastrop clinic was closest. Took him in without appointment on a Saturday. Staff were very accommodating and fit us in right away. Excellent care and service, clean facility. Went back for his follow up and received stellar service again. They are now my first choice for all of my fur babies!
