The doctor suggested she be euthanized. I said NO. She then proposed a home euthanization. I emphatically said NO. I might add this visit was VERY expensive. Bottom line is I then took my cat to regular vet, and it is 2 months later. The cat has recovered. Totally improved. It took meds, dedicated care, but she is doing well, has gained her weight back. I am waiting a couple of weeks until I go full-force at South Metro and a vet that IMO should be fired. I put a review on another site, but it seems it has been deleted. I stick by my experience. Click to report rating    5/30/17   1     1     1     1   My husband brought my French Bulldog, Jacob in 5/26/17 I've been in healthcare for the past 25 years. I also was Pre Vet Med for the first 5 years of college. I am no expert but I am more educated then most people who walk through their door. The vet gave us a care plan that includedtests we felt were unnecessary. My husband asked for the vet to just do the chest xray at least and we would go to our regular vet the next day. The Vet at AEC refused to do that. His excuse was, the tests need to be all done at the same facility. So he sent us away with pain medicine. We brought Jacob in to our regular vet on 5/27/17. He was diagnosed with pneumonia. Something the vet at AEC could have caught and treated at AEC if only he would have done a chest x-ray. Most medical people know, the faster you can treat pneumonia, the better the outcome. Our Jacob died last night. He might still be here if your vet could have put his arrogant ego aside and do what we asked him to do. RID: 63781
Click to report rating    6/26/12   5     5     5     5   I have never seen such caring techs and Dr.'s that react so quickly! My dog was there for something minor but when i saw an owner running in with her dog in her arms, not only was every tech out in the lobby reacting quickly but they had a great compassion towards the worry owner. Brought a tear to my eye. I would recommend this facility in any emergency small or large! RID: 35242
4/24/12   1     3     1     2   We came in with our puppy screaming in pain from a possible dislocated shoulder we thought! After an x-ray, it confirmed a broke in the leg through the growth plate. After being told to go home & they would call us after a few hours when he was resting comfortably, I ended up calling to find out how he was. I could hear him in the background still wimpering in pain. To make this comment short, after being referred by my Vet the next AM to the U of M for surgery, it was there that they questioned me as to why this clinic; 1) casted his leg this way; (was told that this type of break, should have included his shoulder in the cast to prevent movement of the bone @ his elbow - every movement my puppy did caused pain because cast wasn't done right) 2) they prescribed a pain medication that wasn't appropriate for this type of injury & his pain level. You would think if you went to the U of M Vet school, their would be consistency. NEVER, NEVER WILL I GO HERE IN AN EMERGENCY! RID: 33728
Click to report rating    11/21/11   1     3     1     1   Avoid at all costs! There are other good alternatives: Banfield in Eagan in open Saturdays and Sundays, better quality and about 1/3 of the price. SE Metro gave my Chi., who is only 12 pounds, a huge overdose of metronidazole. The pet alredy has a chronic liver condition, which may have been made worse from the overdose. One of their senior vets explained to me that these things can happen just like at clinics and hospitals. What a terrible way to look at quality medical care, no quality control! Vets and staff are not qualified, poor quality work. It is a factory vet clinic, get them in and out and collect as much money as possible. Save your pet poor care and high prices, go somewhere else!
