The comments here are not about this clinic -- they are about the one across the street, apparently since not one of the vets they name is there, or has been there -- this clinic took over space from the Mt. Pleasant clinic. Be sure you are looking at the right clinic when you read these reviews since people are obviously confusing the two.

We have used Dr. Corber for all 4 of our English Cocker Spaniels spanning some 20 years.During that time I have found him extremely professional, listens to our concerns and provides the level of guidance I would expect from a doctor. At no time have I ever felt pressured to any form of treatment. On several occasions we have rushed in as one of dogs has a taste for chocolate. The treatment and concern for not only our dog but for us as well, was extremely reassuring. I have no hesitation in recommending him. reassu

Dr.Corber seems to take extreme and expensive measures when he treats animals. He is quick to make drastic decisions and pressures you to agree. He also will perform unrequested services and will try to convince you later it was necessary. I had dogs all my life, and never felt so much pressure, anxiety and just a feeling that I'm being taken advantage of money wise when going to the vet. The fact that he has so many bad reviews and they all tell the same story says a lot. If you go to that clinic just don't pick that doctor.

I have been in the clinic a few times over the past few years. I was treated poorly by the front office staff, Dr. Corber treated me like I was a waste of time because I refused unnecessary treatment on my cat. Even after a bad experience, I brought my cat back and was treated exactly the same. The worst part is the nicest person they had on staff no longer works there. This place isn't worth the time or effort it takes to get there. There is no parking, rude employees and expensive treatments. I found another vet closer to home who calls me just to check up. THE VET CALLS. Not another staff member. Don't go to this clinic. EVER!!!

We have a 2 yrs old yorkie. We noticed a little bump on his eye and rushed to closest vet. We were seen by Dr Corber, who told us that Rocky's got a corneal ulcer of 10 days old. He said it looks bad and since we didn't come earlier, now the only treatment is an eye surgery. He immediately started calling clinics he knew and tried making an appt for us with an eye specialist for the same day. He kindly let us know that consultation costs $300 and an eye surgery is $2000. We were shocked and asked to give us some time. He ended up prescribing us Tobradex, but warned that these drops will do nothing - surgery is the only treatment option for us. We couldn't believe that a young, healthy dog would need a surgery. We decided to get a 2nd opinion. A new doc at a different clinic did a more thorough exam and concluded that ulcer's not too deep and not "melting". There's absolutely no need for the surgery and a week long treatment with eye drops will do the trick. Now Rocky's eye is healed

I have been taking my elderly dog here for the past 2 years, and without Dr Keeley's help and guidance I would be lost, she has been supportive and kind and made my dogs health and quality of life the top priority. The staff is lovely and always knows who we are when we come in. A+ service!

I've read many of the comments posted and frankly, I'm shocked and in disbelief. I'm not part of the 1%, just an ordinary working person, who knew, when I got my dog that I would not just be working for myself but for my dog also. Over the years he had minor ailments and as he got older, he required more veterinary care. You get what you pay for and I can say without doubt, my dog received the very best of care at Mt.Pleasant Davisville. The staff are wonderful and you could tell they truly cared about you and your beloved pet. Dr.Matt Spiegle is a hero in my books, caring and compassionate and more importantly, practical about life and death issues and what is best for the animal. I've recommended this clinic to many and will continue to do so with confidence.

I want to share my experience that I had on January 17, 2014. Our dog was 14, and becoming ill. I made an appointment to discuss euthanizing her. I was very nervous because I knew that we were not going to treat her etc, but I thought that the vet would definitely try to convince me otherwise because as other people have sad, this is a very expensive clinic. It does always seem that extra services are pushed on the clients. However, we were met with a new and fabulous vet, Dr. Matt Spiegl (not sure if I spelled that correctly). He was so compassionate, informative, and loving with our girl and with us. He praised our parenting and met our concerns with answers. Not once did he suggest surgeries or treatment that would prolong her pain or discomfort. He ultimately let us decide and gave us his unwavering support. After we held her and said our goodbyes, Dr. Matt hugged me and gave me his condolences. When we get another pet, I will be sure that he or she is in Dr. Matt's care

I have been a client of this clinic for over 15 years & have always received excellent care for my dogs. My first dog was a bit of a lemon and Dr Corber guided me through each health crisis with compassion and expertise, did 2 orthopaedic surgeries with wonderful outcomes. All of the vets at the clinic always offer me every treatment option that is available but work with me to find the best course of treatment for my finances and wellbeing of my pets. There may be less expensive clinics in ths city but I believe that you get what you pay for & with this clinic it is superior quality care from everyone who works there.

I’m not one to write bad reviews, but I feel it warranted in this case. My husband was very satisfied with the services provided by Dr Jen McMullen a few days ago when he took our dog in to have one of her claws removed after tearing ($300). He was asked that we come in for a follow-up appointment to have her bandages removed, and that there would be no charge for this.
I ended up taking our dog in for the follow up appointment and I was taken-a-back when they provided me with a bill for close to $200 for the removal of the bandage and an ear swab exam. I’m sure the veterinarian is fantastic with animals and has their best interests in mind, but this is not an excuse for the way they conduct business and ask for payment for services that were not requested, nor quoted before they were done. I feel I was taken advantage of by Dr Allan Corber and would caution anyone who visits this veterinary hospital to get the price in writing before any services are rendered.

I wish to convey that a technically good doctor can be bad for your dog/cat/... When challenged with questions or alternate, less costly solutions, Dr. Corber becomes exasperated and short. He focuses on rapid, full-scale treatments that are obviously expensive and result in a long and painful recovery for the animal as opposed to more natural treatment. I received more cogent canine allergy advice from the receptionist (who was paying too much as well) than Dr. Corber. I feel, based on my interactions with Dr. Corber that he is standoffish, makes his clientele feel bad about not spending fortunes immediately and most importantly, is not truly focused on the primary goal of care-giving and remediation of the animal's suffering. His goal should be to spend the time and energy to explain why a treatment is necessary and present the repercussions of the various lower pricing options to the animal. Rather, he demonstrates his disdain for a conversation "coming own to cost"

Please don't take your pets here. My dog, who was a patient of the clinic, got extremely ill very quickly. I lived 2 blocks away so called to ask if I could bring her in and explained the (clearly urgent) situation. I was told that the clinic closed in half an hour and there were no appointments left for the day. I ended up taking my dog to the Emergency Vet Clinic and was told that if I had waited until the morning to have her seen she would not have survived. If this clinic cared about it's patients it would not have been a questions as to whether I could bring her in. I immediately switched clinics (despite an apology call from the clinic - probably to cover their own butts) and am much happier and receive a far higher level of care!

Not impressed at all. My cat was on observation at that clinic for 3 days, when I came to it pick up, the vet. didn't even bother to come greet me and talk (he only phone me to tell me it was ok to come pick up my cat). It was the receptionist that handed me my cat just like if it was a piece of meat. No sign of empathy. They couldn't even diagnosed my cat was dying. - he passed away following the next 36 hours.

We had a number of poor experiences witht this vet and spent thousands of dollars before we finally moved elsewhere. Our dog needed surgery on her shoulders, so we went to see a specialist. After he examined the x-rays that were taken from our vet at Mt Pleasant he told us he would have to re-do them because they were don't improperly. After another check up we were told she tested positive for heart worms. After another thousand dollars in diagnostic tests they tell us the test was a false positive. We love our dog and would do anything for her which this clinic takes advantage of with unnecessary and Expensive treatments. It's extremely impersonal, corporate, hugely over priced, and is staffed by an ever revolving door of vets. Rarely did we see the same one twice. We are with a smaller practice now and are so much happier.

Worst. Brought in a 6 year old sweetheart who had all of the classic signs of cushings. should have known when discussing symptoms on the phoen and making my first appt. that being told "we only staff one vet on the weekends" was a sign to seek an alternative. I advised that my financial situation would only allow for the series of proposed tests to be completed on a month to month basis. Jr. vet recommended an xray to start rather than a blood test. sold on the idea that i need to change her diet to the recommended brands. 2 months later, dog is near death, lost weight, sever muscle atrophy, can hardly walk. I follow through with a blood test and request a Sr. vet who was much more knowledgeable (as I had no faith in Jr. after doing my own research) who refers me to another vet because they aren't equipped - who very quickly confirms the condition. It's clear that the Jr. was more concerned with reaching a quota rather than my girl's health. seek an alternative or request SR.

I'm not certain why this clinic receives such a poor rating. We always received good care for our previous dog, who lasted until almost age 16. Our current dog, now aged 3, has a somewhat rare condition that the clinic diagnosed immediately, and we believed the quick diagnosis saved her life. My only complaints are the costs, but that may reflect the rental payments the clinic is paying in central Toronto, and the fact that the waits can sometimes be long.

I left Mt Pleasant Davisville for several reasons. Initially we had a great vet and only saw her. When she left, it was the beginning of a cast of thousands...never seeing the same vet 2x. When one of my dogs died, only months later did they acknowledge her passing, even though I knew they were aware the next week. When another of my dogs was being treated for liver failure at the VEC, no one called or cared. You wait and wait in that waiting room. It's no better than a walk in clinic.

I took my 3 cats to this clinic for many years. Since Dr. Corber took over, I have seen billings go up hugely. Our original kind vet and the friendly receptionists have left. Current vets appear to lack basic knowledge and diagnostic capablity. They work to a standard script that always recommends extensive, unnecessary and expensive tests. My little cat was ill, vomiting and off her food. The initial estimate presented to us was $1400, which we refused. It turned out our cat was merely constipated! We ended up paying a total of $800 for an enema, which we suggested ourselves! Two days later the vet called us out of apparent concern for our cat then tried to charge us an extra $50 for one appetite pill, one tablespoon of laxative powder and two cans of off-the-shelf catfood. We have now found another clinic that actually cares about our animals. Not recommended unless you have Bill Gates's money and aren't fussy about caring care of your pets. PS our cat is now back to 100% health.

If you love your animals please, please don't take them to this clinic!!! Even with a terminally ill animal you are handed over to vet techs who incorrectly diagnose your animal's status. I was told my cat was fine and to come back in 3 months, sadly I had to euthanize her 4 days later!! The only good feature is the receptionists.

my dog had a bladder infection which Dr Smith prescribed not the most effective antibiotic. it took almost 24 hours to have any effect, and the staff and the vet seemed to not care one bit when i inquired about something to help her since she was in pain and crying. eventually the antibiotic did work, but only while she was on it, once it was done, the symptoms returned. when i asked for more antibiotic, she returned my call 3 hours later saying bring her in for a catherterization collection of urine. the same painful (and stressful) test they already did which showed nothing, by the way, but which she insisted on doing. totally unnecessary and she was in pain already. i took her to another vet that didn't suggest such testing, or the necessity of it and he prescribed an appropriate antibiotic that worked within an hour. he also said the antibiotic she was on before wasn't prescribed long enough that was why the infection remained.

Dr. Corber is a nice and knowledgeable vet. The treatments are on the expensive side. The receptionists are unfriendly, save for one. Having said that, we took my cat in for an emergency visit and the on-site young vet could not diagnose crystals in his urine. When she finally did (three days later after expensive hospitalization), she informed us that he needed to be taken to the emergency clinic because he needed immediate surgery. She had completely traumatized the cat trying all sorts of things. She literally dumped the cat in a carrier and armed us with his file before sending us off to pay the remainder of the $1,700 bill. We took the cat to a different vet, who stabilized him right away and who looked after him for one week, diligently trying to get him to eliminate more and more urine. The cat did not need an operation, and the whole thing cost us $750 at the other clinic. She spent hours explaining how to look after his diet and well-being. Do not trust this clinic!

Didn’t bother to check my dog that had bloody and loose bowels and vomiting for 2 weeks. I gave them a chance few appointments because is the only clinic next to me but I understand now that is not worth to risk the health and the life of your dog. I can’t believe a vet would prescribe your dog based without examine your dog thoroughly making my dog worst with side effects. For this I call for appointment and they leave me on hold for half hour. Inexperience vets said my dog was aggressive and that’s why they won’t check on my dog without even trying. There was something here that makes my dog nervous, probably vet didn’t wash hands. In other vets, grooming and with people and other dogs my dog is always fine and shows no aggression. They don’t try or show any compassion. Go elsewhere. This place is just after your money, not your pet’s health.

I brought my cat in because of vomiting and weight loss. During the first 10 minutes of the phyisical exam my cat had cancer and needed a very expensive exploritory surgery. My concern was that no blood work, x-ray or ultra sound had been done and it seemed to be a very severe prognosis with out much background. I requested more research done before surgery. Even though many tests were done nothing was found so I decided to seek another vet for a second opion. I was smart to get the second opion because it turned out my cat has an issue with his pancreas and needed immediate attention. Becaue the doctor at Davisville-Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital was so focused on finding cancer he overlooked test information pointing out the issue. As a result my cat was hospitalized for three days. While I can't say the hospital was trying to take advantage of me finacially or don't care enough for their patients, I can say they are too aggessive and need more expreience treating animals.

If there is ever a place that makes you feel like they are only after your money and don’t give a damn about your pet, this is the one.
I chose this clinic because I lived in the neighbourhood. I was there 3 times. First 2 times were kind of OK, routine checkups, very quick though. Each time it was a different vet, young ladies just out of vet school. Then, my cat was seen by the owner, Allan Corber. The whole annual check up lasted 10 minutes, half of that he spent persuading me to give my cat a long list of (expensive) vaccines. Then he mentioned my cat had gingivitis and that was all. Not a single word on how to treat it or how serious it can be (and I did not know much about it at then, this was my first pet). He just brushed me off within seconds when he realized I was not interested in spending $200 on unnecessary vaccination. It is a nice and polished clinic, but the owner is a totally heartless and uncompassionate vet. How he got to appear on Animal Housecalls is beyond me.
