I had to bring my horse there because of severe colic. The receiving team was very attentive the emphasis was placed on surgical management. The next day she was unfortunately experiencing post operative shock, when told that a plasma transfusion ($1500.00) might help correct the shock I voiced apprehension of such an intervention due to my experience as a physician and the complications I have witnessed. I was informed that this was such a good intervention and high success rate that if she still passed away I would not be responsible for the cost of the plasma infusion. She continued in shock, had hives and was put down 2 hrs later. For two years, I have received bills, threatening notices from collection agencies and now they have hired an attorney against me because I refused to pay the 1500.00 dollars for the plasma. I have paid in full the other approx. 7000.00 without issue. I have called numerous times to Elgin Vet Clinic only to not have my calls returned.
