I had to take a very sick dog to Dr.Bhatia after seeing other vets with no improvement. He took one look at all the pieces and knew exactly what was wrong. His prices were reasonable and he cared very much about the welfare of the dog. I'll take my dogs there for the rest of their lives. Thank you so much!

The worst vet I have ever encountered - dishonest, predatory and its hard not to question the credentials of Dr. Bhatti and all vets at this clinic due to the unsafe, dishonest practices you can read about on numerous sites - Check yelp, check google and please please please dont make the same mistake we did by coming to this clinic as our dog's life was put in danger thanks to this clinics nonsense, lack of training and poor service. If you are a client of this vet, and think you are being taken advantage of/being overcharged go with your gut and read the reviews online (as there are 100s of reviews slamming this awful place and laughable excuses for Veterinarians)

Wonderful staff, always welcoming and make time for my dog if/when there's been an emergency. Don't push to do unnecessary procedures/testing so I feel they're not in it for just the $ but that they truly care about my pets health. Left Yaletown Pet Hospital because they treated my pet as if they were $ rather than family. Have transferred all of my 3 dogs and 2 cats records to this clinic and am very happy to have done so. Thank you Cypress!

Horrific customer service experience. Incredibly rude front desk staff, who made previous incorrect notes about me (not my animal); when I went to refill the prescription that my cat has had for many years, I was told that the last perception I filled was the last available on file (was never notified of this!). And that I said I wasn't coming back (not true!) When I pleaded for a bridge prescription until I could get my cat in, I was denied.
Apparently it's more important to charge $170 for blood work, plus $40 for check up - than the health of my cat. I begged for five days to help bridge the days in-between when I could bring my cat in due to my busy schedule, and was denied.
It was truly shocking to receive such awful customer service. I get that for whatever reason, communication was breaking down with me - but to endanger the life of my cat to make a point is heartbreaking.
Shame on you Cypress St. Animal Clinic.

We've been here numerous of times for different illnesses and eventually you see a pattern in their practice that I don't agree with. I found that their main goal here is to suck as much money out of soft hearted pet owners.
Their exam fee is definitely the lowest among vets in Vancouver. That is what drew me to come here initially. But I later found out why it so low... I've never left with just the exam fee.
They are up-selling and using fear/love as a tactic. A quick google search shows that it is apparently quite common for vets to do this because demand for vets are decreasing due to increasing number of vet practices. Thus, they turn to up-selling to get more out of each customer. This is one of those places.
Looking back, I think a lot of the tests I paid for was not needed. You also tend to leave the place with uncertainties, fear, and worry.
I'm not coming back here again EVER and I recommend you to do the same.

BEWARE!! DON'T BRING YOUR BELOVED PETS HERE - VACCINE CAUSED A VERY BAD ALLERGIC REACTION - FOLLOWUP WAS HORRIBLE.
My dog is 7 years old with no health issues previously. I brought her to Cypress St. Animal Hospital for her routine vaccines. She then had a very bad allergic reaction. After that, I had a really bad experience dealing with this vet and the vaccine company.
I will never return to this place again. Dog Owners: Please stay away from this vet and their vaccines!
P.S. The vaccine company is Zoetis and the vaccines were Vanguard+5 and Defensor3

I used to go to Atlas Animal Hospital few years ago but was not happy with the service and unhygienic conditions .I was happy with Dr.Bhatia initially but now because he has started to very busy ,his service is getting worse ,hygiene is not a priority for them know.Dr. Bhatia is too busy to come to phone sometimes.Service is rushed and prices are exorbitant. It is time for me switch to another vet know.

Would not recommend this clinic to anyone and will not be going back after only one visit. The receptionist never interacted with our dog once and seemed very disinterested in us and her. Never once did she look over her counter at our dog and even had to ask us what colour she was because she herself never bothered to look over her counter to check. She was not friendy or warm at all and was clearly there just to do her job and nothing more. We have never experienced this at other Vet Clinics before. Our dog is a beloved part of our family and we expect her to be treated as such. She is not just another number in a computer. The Vet himself was friendly enough but we felt he was really trying to up-sell us on products and services we clearly did not need. Over-all we were very disappointed with the experience and will not be back. I am interested in hearing this Vet's response to my comments. He seems to try to justify rather than apologize. Will this time perhaps be different?

BAD BAD PLACE for CATS. Dirty, lack of knowledge. We brought in our cat, they told us he needed to stay overnight for observation with an IV. They said that someone is there all night with the pets.NOT TRUE. They have a video camera, but its not even pointed at the kennels. I called early the next morning, as i had a bad feeling. They put me on hold. Told me my cat is doing fine. Told me to call back as vet was busy. I did, they never answered the phone. I kept calling, they hung up on me. I finally got through, & they told me that now my cat is not going to make it. I rushed got there, my cat was alive, they were jabbing him with adreniline needles. They had him in a make shift operating table with a luggage type of thing. He was fine. Something was fishy. They killed my cat. Then wanted to know if we wanted to put him in their freezer, i said no. They kept pushing. We left with my poor dead cat, they rushed out of the parking lot to make me sign a paper. i was full of grief. BAD VET!!

We have been clients for about 8-9 years (our 2 dogs are 14 & almost 15). We first went because the prices were more reasonable than others & we keep going for the care our dogs receive. We really appreciate Dr. Bhatia's skills & love for animals which is why we keep going back. We've had several 'scares' for each of our dogs over the years and he's always nursed them back to health and given us sound advice for the health issues both pooches have experienced. I couldn't imagine going somewhere else for vet care.

They are the best clinic/vet in Vancouver! It is not fancy because they focus on the health of your pet(s) not how pretty the clinic is.
They do NOT price gouge in my experience. They are always very clear about everything they are doing and needs to be done.
They are VERY caring and only want the best for you/your pet(s).

I have read all the bad reviews and I absolutely disagree. When my pup was 3 months old she broke her growth plate. Dr. Bahtia was amazing, I had had a terrible and expensive first round of tests at the Granville Island emergency clinic and thought I was doomed. Dr Bahtia took care of the everything, gave me options and was so good to my dog. They called me to check on her and remembered me every time I was in. He is the only Vet I have ever had (I have had many) that showed affection to my dogs. They never over charge and are always very clear about everything. It may not be fancy but they are warm hearted.

Dr.Bhatia is great with animals! I have been taking my dog roxy for 5 years now!. She is not one of those dogs that gets all scared going to the Vet, she loves to see Dr.Bhatia.I just got dental done for Roxy , and Ilove it , her breath doesn't smell bad any more " it was horrible before".. and when I went to get roxy after, she wasn't horrified and wanting to leave the place! I felt so happy that my child (Roxy) was still happy :)... they also gave me these dental chews for her, she loves them. I would recommend the clinic because with all this there prices are affordable aswell :).

Dr.Bhatia and the whole staff is very caring and knowledgeable. I have been going to this clinic for 10 years now and I no longer worry when one of my animals get sick. I disagree with the last review because with my experience, money has never been an issue , they are very kind and compassionate. I highly recommend this clinic :)

PLEASE NEVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE. If you care about your pet, you will avoid this place at all costs. Our puppy is suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (never curable) as a direct result of negligent vet practices (overvaccination, vaccinating when sick, putting her under for unnecessary procedures, etc etc.) We trusted them and it was the worst mistake we ever made. And will pay for it for the rest of our dog's life. They even gave a lyme vaccine when we refused it (found out from a subsequent vet it had been done). YOU CANNOT TRUST THESE VETS. For the life of your pet DO NOT GO HERE. We have spent thousands and thousands trying to restore our pet's health as a direct result of this practice. THEY SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS. I cannot over emphasize going here was the WORST thing we could have done for our pet, and if we stayed she would have been dead or at least gravely ill in the near future as a result of this horrible "vet" practice.

They are cheap, and there is a reason for it - terrible customer service! They do not tell you about food return policy, and there is nothing on the receipt stating they would not accept unopened cans after 21 days.
The owner / manager yelled at me when I tried to return or exchange a pack of Medical Preventive dog food cans, said he did not want my business, and that he did not care that I spent $55. The reason why I had to return the cans was that the food gave my dog gas. I am an immigrant myself, English is not my first language, however, I can say that his English skills are terrible. How that person got a license to become a vet in BC is beyond me!
On the other hand, the receptionist was very nice and pleasant, and I hope she leaves that aggressive and rude thief who has no respect for his customers.
Needless to say, I would never, ever leave my dog in their care, not even if they were the last vets on the planet!

I had just moved to the city and my dog has a history of bladder infections due to her inverted vulva. I phoned the vet and offered to bring in all her medical charts (I had just had her full yearly check-up and shots done literally two weeks before the move and had a clean bill of health) and asked if they could get her on her proper prescription. They told me the visit would cost $30.00 and then I could get the meds after the check-up. I went in and before I know it the vet is x-raying my dog, wanting to give her an ultrasound, blood work the works, telling me she probably had cancer and making me feel like I was abusing my animal letting her suffer!. Finally after calling them on their price gouging they gave me the prescription (which worked perfectly as it was all she needed). So my $30.00 vet visit cost me a few hundred dollars and lost my business for life. All about the money at this office!

I have taken my dog here twice for dental cleaning. Their rates are the lowest in the city. However, my dog had a reaction to the injection materials they used on the second time . This reaction is rare in dogs and vets associated to the material this clinic has used for injection. Treating my dog cost me $500 and I am thankful he did not develop a cancer on the site of injection. $ savings with this clinic is tempting but the procedure they use might be a little rough or traditional. If you visit the clinic, perhaps you will know what I mean....AVOID

They are the worst vets, the facility is cold and night and probably the reason my cat died. He was sick and getting better. The day I was scheduled to pick him up they called and said he was dead. I arrived to find them "working on him" and by the looks of it he had died already and they were going through the motions on a dead animal. And to top it off they overcharged and would not provide a detailed bill. Very unskilled. As I was grieving they asked me to sign a bunch of forms saying I would pay an extra. They overcharge and do not care. They also have 2 cats in the clinic that are locked in cages every night for no reason at all. This place deserves to be shut down

I have had experience with this vet, and unfortunatlely much of what I've already read about them here, I know is true. Yes, they yell. And never mind the obvious rude factor, what do you think that does to the pets that can hear that? Unacceptable. Yes also to the price gouging. And, the fact is, if you call them up saying you want to de-claw your cat (which is obvious mutilation and cruelty), they will go ahead and schedule an appointment for it without even trying to discuss it first, let alone try to talk you out of it. It is amputation of the toes to the first knuckle, behavioral problems and pain will ensue in most cats for the rest of their lives. Including next to ZERO defence if they ever get outside. This is illegal in the UK. So being legal here it's OK? NO, it is NOT. I will never give these people my business ever again.

It is funny that most of the people that have written comments about the Management yelling at the staff were, past employees who worked at the the hospital for only a month and were let go. I have been working at this hospital for 5 years, and the senior Doctor, Dr, Bhatia has yet to yell at me, yes he has gotten frustrated with past employees but that is only because they say on their resume that they know how to handle animals, but when it comes to holding a pet to draw blood and the person is not doing it properly and is possibly causing the animal pain, he will let you know and teach you, and if you still dont get it right I think he has the right to get frustrated. Because if you know Dr.Bhatia he is an animal lover, he has 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 rabbits and they were all abandoned animals that he has adopted,he is a person who cannot handle an animal suffering and will do anything in his power to help the animal and In my opinion that is the best characteristic in Veterinarian.

If u give this clinic a chance, they actually are a pretty good clinic. Well, the younger doctor is quite knowledgable, & the girls (staff) are ALL very kind & caring. But really, its the owner (the older doctor) & the manager lady (his wife?) That are dragging the place down. I have brought my cat & dog here for 4 yrs now, & it seems that the quality has declined within the past while. The wife(?) is always in foul mood, yelling at staff infront of customers, AND is rude to paying customers. The older doctor used to be very good, caring. But now, he seems to be all about $. So now, when I do go, I just specifically ask for the younger doctor, & hope/cross my fingers it is not the wife working that day.

Every time we went to this pet clinic the Vets tried to price gouge us and are apparently known for pressuring people into doing expensive tests, delivering attitude and guilt trips. They have recurrently appeared to be primarily focused on making money, over the care of pets. The receptionists leave a lot to be desired (especially compared to other Vet clinics), and more-often-than-not proved to be inappropriately hostile and even verbally abuse to customers whom phone the clinic (both us as well as other people).

Took my cat for an exam and they told me she needed her teeth done. I was quoted one price by the office staff and an appointment was made. I called back to confirm the price and was told she would have to have blood and urine tests and basically the price was 4x what was originally quoted. I didn't go to that vet but took her to another where the price was reasonable and care was excellent. Cypress Street Animal Hospital also smelled bad, like cages hadn't been cleaned. Wouldn't recommend.

I normally take my dog to another vet, but needed to get her anal glands expressed and my other vet couldn't see her for a few days. The vet at Cypress also tried to upsell me on a few things (as another person here commented). I have never heard my dog squeal in pain as she did when the vet did the anal gland express. She has had it done a number of times and even likes going to the other vet clinic. She couldn't get out of this vet's arms quick enough. She was in pain and terrified of him. Cost me $47 for a simple anal gland express, check of her heartbeat, and look at her teeth. It took him less than 10 minutes. I will never go back there again. It's worth the wait for the Granville Island Vet Clinic.

I took my dog who had a bit of a swollen eye lid. The Doctor seemed to want to sell me everything. He initially told me it was probably a big bite. He suggested an "florescent" eye check and a tear duct check. He told me both looked good. He gave me an eye cream to put on her eyelid for the next week. When I got home, I realized that the medicine was for a bacterial infection - something he had not mentioned. I called him back and at first he said she had a bit of an infection, but when I reminded him he said her eye looked good - he said it was for "prevention?" He also looked at her ear. He cleaned her ear and gave me medication - of which we had the same thing at home - he had told me it would be different - but I realized it was the same when I paid for it. Also it was twice the last size we had last time with another vet for half of the time. He also tried to convince me to get her teeth cleaned under anesthesia - she is two years old! RIP OFF. I don't trust him

Took my cat in to get neutered and get his shots, and they were very kind and very professional. Called me on my cell to let me know I could pick up up early, the staff fussed over how adorable they thought he was. In the pre-surgery check up, the doctor offered me extra vaccinations which I declined (he's an indoor solitary cat) and doctor did not push them on me or make me feel bad. They let me take the blanket home he had in his cage, because he had become attached to it.

I brought my cat to this vet to have a tooth removed, because she had some pain in her mouth from it. She started eating less after getting this done. About a week after her tooth was removed she wasn't eating at all. I brought her to a different vet after that to get her checked again. The new vet took x-rays of her mouth and said that the roots, and a shard of the tooth were left in the gums preventing it from healing and causing infection! They properly removed it, and within a few days she was okay again. They were not very informative about what was happening with her, or results of the blood work. And I ended up having to pay them hundreds of dollars to make my cat's mouth worse instead of better! It was a really horrible experience. I do not recommend them!
