The first time I’ve been to a vet and had a good successful experience! I wasn’t pressured to get additional testing like other vets I’ve been to. They just fixed my cat and Asked me to come back if the problem continued.

The staff are helpful and listen to my dog's symptoms over the phone before saying if I should come in (in different cases, different advice). Being able to call and determine whether or not something is in fact an emergency is a huge benefit - I never felt like those calls were annoying to them. This obviously off sets the cost of vet care, which is high everywhere. I found this vet by seeking a second opinion from them regarding an invasive procedure for my puppy - they were practical then (advising against the surgery) and have remained so. The office is nothing to look at but the staff make up for it. I have met all of the vets: while Dr. Dodds is not my favourite personality-wise, he capable. I think his lack of people skills is what makes people things his care is of less value (less handholding, less explaining but same service, same outcome).

All of the staff at Kerrisdale Veterinary Hospital are helpful and well educated. They are always flexible and give priority to emergencies. They see everything from exotic pets like hedge hogs and ferrets to cats and dogs. The front staff are always friendly and seem to know every pet and their different personalities which I love. Last year I almost lost my rabbit, he had a urinary stone stuck in his penis. Dr. Dodds saw him right away, did X-rays and immediately took him into surgery. He let me know about the anesthetic risks for rabbits but there was no choice but to go ahead with the operation. I was so worried he would pass during the surgery but also knew it had to be done, as he was suffering. Dr. Dodds came through after the surgery was done, my bunny had made it! He was able to remove the stone and now a year later he is doing better then ever. Thank you to all of the staff for always making us feel important and cared for this has truly become our second home.

It is unfortunate that we don't take time to research veterinarians when our pet is sick. I wish I had before bringing my ailing cat to Dr. Michael Dodds at the Kerrisdale clinic. The staff out front and on the phone were wonderful, but Dr Dodds spent one minute looking at my cat, whisked her away for "blood and urine tests" without discussing it with me or explaining the cost involved. We left not getting any solutions on how to make my cat eat. I went to pay my bill and almost had a heart attack- $470!!! No one asked me if we should do the test. My cat died at home the next day, not eating another thing. I was deeply disappointed. I have now done my research and there are good vets in Vancouver who do not do procedures without written consent from their patients. Shame on you Dr Dodds!

This vet hospital is by far the worst I've ever seen. They have no respect for their staff nor their clients and they care much more about money than about caring for animals. I worked there for a short time a few years ago and initially brought my animals there as well. The things I witnessed there were horrible and caused me and the other assistants there a great deal of stress. They do as much as they can to make money, not to help animals. I saw animals mistreated and staff were sworn at. I saw serious mistakes made and animal lives lost in ways I believe should never have happened. One of the saddest parts was the animals they ran multiple unnecessary and uncomfortable tests on even though they knew they were dying just to make more money instead of letting them pass comfortably in their homes with their loving families. The facilities were very old and in need of repair. Dr. Dodds Sr and Jr were awful people behind closed doors and Dr Craven wasn't much better. Do NOT go here!!

Terrible, terrible service. I called in looking for a particular medication for my dog and the woman who answered the phone was incredibly rude and very abrupt. I barely managed to say the name of the product before she cut me off with "We don't carry that. Goodbye." I understand not wanting to carry on a long conversation about a product the place doesn't carry, but at least let me finish my sentence before you hang up on me. If you don't have time to end a phone call politely I don't have time to waste considering your business the next time I have an animal in need of care. I had the same experience when I called in asking about reptile care, and again when calling about anallergenic foods for dogs. Absolutely ridiculous.

Dr. Sarah Morley saved the day! We went to her for a second opinion and she was immediately confident that she could help my elderly dog. She knew not to do anything dramatic that would add further trauma to our aging dog. She diagnosed the problem quickly and took care of him well. After an hour, she called to say he was going to be ok but that he would be monitored for the rest of the day. Fair price for consultation, medication, treatment, and treats! Dr. Morley is very caring and comforting for animals and humans alike.

Kerrisdale vet has taken excellent care of my very sick diabetic Yorkie. When my dog was attacked on a long weekend I rushed her to Kerrisdale Vet as my Vet, Amherst Vet was closed on Sundays and holidays. Dr. Dodd saw her immediately and saved her and sticthed up her eye lid. I wish I had taken my dogs to Kerrisdale Vet when they were pups. I had to take my sick Yorkie to the expensive hospital in burnaby as Amherst had noone to monitor her on Sundays and evenings. Had she been at Kerrisdale Vet I would have saved thousands of dollars! Im happy to say that all three of my dogs now go to Kerrisdale Vet ever since Dr Dodd treated the Yorkie, I highly recommend Kerrisdale Veterinary

I took my precious dog here when he was really ill. He collapsed and was having difficulty breathing. I spoke to the DR before she preformed on him and the conversation we had sounded promising. She said she was going to give him xrays and lasic so it can remove the water from his lungs. I said YES please asap! She never told me how serious it was and how he might die. If I had know there was a SLIGHT chance he would not make it, I would have been by his side so I can at least be there when he passes. I think the Dr's need to really take a step back and be more sensitive to these situations. YES, you treat animals and they die on a daily basis but you have to remember this probably never happened to your patients who trust you! I will never get to see my dog again or properly say my goodbyes. I would never recommend this VET to anyone.

I took my dog here for a case of constant vomiting as my vet was all booked. Took 5 minutes to examine and said he had no idea and had to do a bunch of tests. He gave me some pill to give him and also shaved a spot on his back to give him an injection (which my dog has had plenty of injections without needing to shave the hair). He said he needed to do blood tests to make sure it wasn't anything serious. I was hesitant, but I thought if it would benefit the health of my dog and figure out what it was, money's only paper. Few days later he calls to tell me that the blood work came out normal and he needed to do additional tests to make sure it wasn't "such and such" (i don't remember) Again, being naive and having this dog as my first pet I thought it was necessary like how the vet made it seem. Calls back maybe a few more days later to say everything was fine. I could have told you that, it had been a week and he already stopped vomiting. Don't come here, it's not worth your $ or time

Go to the female dr that works on the weekends if you want your animal treated with care...Dr Morelly. The guy dr is useless. Dr morelly saw my dog for 5 minutes and said she thinks she has lymphoma, ran the tests but 2 days later my dog passed. She must have always had it but the guy dr that always treated my dog never thought to even check for it. Finally reading up on it, my dog showed ALL signs for lymphoma...but the guy dr kept feeding my dog antibiotics for UTI saying that is why she was peeing constantly, and lethargic, and not eating right, etc etc.. We have done multiple blood tests and urine tests at this clinic to try to figure out what was wrong...and its just sad that for 5 months he never seemed to bother to care to check for cancer..and 3 minutes on the weekend with Dr Morelly she knew right away what it could be with all the symptoms we told her about and that she visibly saw. So if you are in the area...please take your dog to see her. She works weekends.

$200 for 10 minutes of the dr's time, with no diagnosis!! Go out of the city to a vet that loves what he does and doesn't charge you for unnecessary procedures. I will NOT be going back!

The staff had no clue about a number of relatively simple things related to pet care. The place is not the cleanest and has a very industrial chemical smell to it. The Drs are not so bad, but don't have the best communication skills. Their hrs etc make them a great emergency option, but I will be looking for another vet for my puppy.

I have been going to this facility for years and would not consider another.I have had to go to emergency care for my pet and was taken to the cleaners.Dr.Michael Dodds has gone over and above for my pets and is caring gentle vet. I have lost a dog and the compassion shown by Doctor Dodds helped me thru a very rough time. When I brought my dog who was injured to Dr M. Dodds he did everything he could possibly do to save him,he was obviously upset that he could not.I cannot imagine having to change Vets I am so comfortable with the service I receive at this hospital,I would never trust the care of my pets to anyone else.I say thankyou to all that work at Kerrisdale Vet Hospital and to the wonderful Doctors.

I brought in my 7 year old dog in for his first-time dental cleaning (after a so-called pre-exam was done but really he did not "chk", just pressed a few times on my dog and said everything's ok), I repeatedly asked him if a blood test should be done prior the anesthesia, and he kept saying no and said the nurse outside (within their own vet facility) doesn't know what she was talking about. After we dropped him off, I received a call by phone and informed me that my dog was “gone” once they started the dental cleaning procedure and that he was unsuccessful with the cardiac arrest. My family was devastated and no reason/explanation was ever given. Dr. Michael Dodds was very impatient with us and didn't even try to "look sorry". He simply said he will be giving us a discount for "ash service"?!!! A bad vet with no empathy and certainly doesn't care about the life of animals. Will never go back and it haunts me every time I pass by this vet location remembering my dog is gone...

Be very cautious before you bring your pet to this vet clinic! Generally a cold and unfriendly place. They have tried to manipulate me into unnecessary procedures for my dog (ex. full teeth cleaning every 3 months), and when I said no, they did it anyway and still charged me! My dog has to be sedated to be groomed (rescued dog), which is the only reason I took her to that clinic, and once the groomer took a large nick out of her ear - no comment or apology was made. My dog had to stay overnight one for a procedure and they let me go downstairs to get her and it was filthy down there! A couple of the handlers seem ok, but by and large NOT a place I would ever recommend. You are paying good money, so go to a vet that actually cares about the animals and is respectful and decent to the owners.

Excellent place for pets! Nice family feel with very pro and understanding staff. Easy to read bills with no sneaky charges! Very affordable which is reflective of the decor & facilities but still maintaining standard. Dr. Craven is extremely knowledgeable & trustworthy. This is the place that doesn't try to drain your finances like some others I know!! My extremely shy cat is treated so well that he is friendly and relaxed with the staff (even when he hates haircuts, teeth cleaning and just about anything and any place not at home). That is hard to find; and I say this with experience. I'd keep going there if I didn't have to move my cat across the country with me...
