Very rude, my brothers bird was very sick, they moved here due to job loss. The dr was very judgemental and trying to up charged w more blood work. He had a bacterial infection. Gave very limited meds, so we would have to come back.. nope.. did blood work at the cost of 500.00 she he refused to talk to my brother,& never returned phone calls.

Staff makes you feel like you did something wrong. My rabbit went in for an eye infection and came out losing weight. They push you to buy extras. My rabbit was so stressed after being there a couple of times, he is not going back.

I brought my chameleon here i had adopted a week prior from a not so great situation who was having some major health issues. We saw Dr.Korber who was absolutely awesome with everything and answered all our questions. The receptionist and technican were also very good. We ended up having to euthanize rango but the staff here made the decision easier and assured me i was making the right decision. I will be bringing my bearded dragon to Dr.Korber for his annual exam.

For me, the experience at this vet clinic was extremely traumatic. I think this was due mostly to a communication lapse between me and the vet that I had seen and this led to me misunderstand the nature of my pet's condition, so when my pet died on the way home from the vet hospital, I was devastated.I did not understand that my pet was very sick and near death when I opted to treat him. I think I should have asked more clarification questions to ascertain how bad my pet's condition was, so I stress to all clients, please, if you don't understand, ask and then ask again. I found that I had a better experience with Dr. Weger at the Calgary North with my pet (I am not criticizing the vet at the Avian Clinic), but for me, Dr. Weger was a better fit. Also, if you had any conditions (like autism), communicate it immediately to the vet and ask about euthanasia if you think your pet is near death's door. Speak up and ask questions. Just my opinions. Thank you.

Dr Korber and her team are extremely gifted, caring and intelligent people. My Quaker Parakeet had a life threatening egg-bind situation. These amazing people not only diagnosed the problem, but brought her through the challenges of surgery and aftercare in the most loving, generous ways possible. My beloved girl is alive because of them. I highly recommend Calgary Avian and Exotic Pet Clinic to everyone who is blessed to own a bird. Thank you Dr Korber and team!!!!

Both Dr Materi and Dr Korber are not only professional and knowledgeable, but they have provided our birds with excellent care. I am allowed in the room when nails and wings are done (bad experience at another vet where my parrot died when in for a nail trim). I find their fees reasonable, staff friendly too. Never had a bad experience there. Dr Materi once spent over half hour with me just discussing my bird's behaviour issues, giving me excellent advice that corrected the problem. Never go anywhere else!

We have a number of regular bunny clients (And a chinchilla!) that have been in to see both vets (Who are very good at what they do!) although we see primarily Dr. Materi, is an amazing and compassionate person on top of being a very knowledgeable vet. I have a bun who goes in every few weeks for a tooth trim on his molars and while he isn't always the best patient, he's always been treated very well. When one of my other bunnies dislocated her hip, Dr. Materi went so far above and beyond to ensure the best care possible for her and it's thanks to her efforts that my little girl was able to keep her leg and be a normal rabbit... -1 hip. The few times where our stories haven't been as fortuanate, all the staff has been very understanding and compassionate, something we deeply appreciate. The vets are great and the techs/reception staff are wonderful people as well!

After taking my bunny to Calgary North for over a year and shelling out quite literally thousands of dollars to deal with her ongoing tooth troubles and resulting GI stasis, we thought we should look for another vet clinic that focused on preventative care. Dr. Materi is always so gentle with our rabbit and very patient with us. Our bunny has gone months without an episode due to regular tooth trims and alternative medication (which never would have happened at Calgary North, which is quick to dole out medication but slow to effectively diagnose a problem) and we couldn't be more pleased with the treatment she has received. It has been so wonderful to find a clinic that is honest and affordable and has patient, knowledgeable staff that is ready to help. Thank you Avian Exotic!

Disgusting how many fake "positive" reviews are here from clinic staff - look at the dates and comments and think about it people! Couldnt agree more with the people that were upset. one of worst experiences ever taking my pet here for tooth file and was never told about injury received so no chance to give antibiotics. My pet suffered because of these Dr's!! Dont believe that because Dr Materi has rabbits that she is a good rabbit Dr either. shop around or got to Calgary North. Dr Korber is for birds and reptiles also - not rabbits. They WILL be rough with your pet, overcharge, be rude, and possibly injure your animal like they did mine also. Horrible treatment and only thing bigger than prices are Egos. This place is about ego and money

I will never take my bunnies anywhere other than this clinic. The staff have gone out of their way to help me and my bunnies through so much. I can't say enough wonderful things about them all! They have saved the lives of some of my fur-kids and helped me through the loss of others. I have 2 terminally ill buns that would have passed a year ago had it not been for the treatment and care they receive at this clinic.

Thanks Dr. Leticia Materi. My rabbit was put down and it was shock for me. She was so gently and did what she can to help me take this situation. As a specialist she is excellent - I believed each her word!!! I would recommend her!!!!

Tried all the exotics vets in Calgary, but these are the very best ones. Wouldn't trust my beloved pets to anyone else.

Very unhelpful with bird care, no off er of any advice whatsoever other than bring in the bird for 80.00. More luck buying mite products and getting rehydration advice on the internet. THANKS FOR NOTHING!

Have not had good experiences with either vets here. Will (over)charge for anything they can! Very overpriced, as they know exotic pet owners don't have many alternate places to take their animals. Raised prices excessively for routine treatment (teeth trims) for my small rodents without prior notification. Physically injured one of my animals (dropped on floor, received a cut, then charged me for meds for the injury they caused). When I had the records transferred to another vet, found out they had nicked my animals tongue during a tooth trim and NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT IT! He was in poor health at the time and may have needed meds to prevent infection from the cut they caused. I asked multiple times to be present when they trimmed their teeth but was never allowed to. WOULD NEVER TAKE MY ANIMALS HERE AGAIN.

I have been a client at Calgary Avian and Exotic Pet Clinic for nearly 15 years and I wouldn't trust my pets with any other vet clinic. They provide one on one service that is second to none and treat each pet like it was their own. Even during difficult situations, the staff are very professional and very sympathetic to my needs and provide knowledgeable information in order to give me the options I need to make appropriate decisions. Dr. Korber and Dr. Materi go out of their way to make my vet experience pleasurable and informative. I recommend them to all my friends with exotic pets as Calgary Avian and Exotic Pet Clinic is truly the best vet clinic in Calgary.

I have brought both my bunnies to Dr. Korber and she is awesome!! Super nice, and knowledgeable. Called several different exotic vets and price is about the same so reasonably priced - except for nail trims I think a little overpriced - $30 for a 5 min procedure. Overall, superb experience because I have brought my buns to other vets because they hate car rides and and Avian is so far from my house, but had to always go back because my buns are most comfortable there.

I have been taking my birds to this clinic for years and would NEVER go anywhere else! Dr. Korber and Dr. Materi are the BEST exotic vets around. I have NEVER had any issue talking to either of them or the staff. If my pet has a health concern OF COURSE they need to be seen, getting medical advice over the phone from anywhere is DANGEROUS!! ALL the staff are professional, courteous, knowledgeable and compassionate. For an exotics specialty clinic the prices are very reasonable and exotics is ALL they do! I give this clinic & staff two HUGE thumbs up and I THANK them for always going above and beyond the call of duty!

Phone for information am on disability, site said would consider pymt plan was told by staff they don't do this anymore would be a $80 charge no advise told to take bird to human society and they would put up for adoption. Bird had a cold recieved proper information from Petland bird is fine now no thanks to the staff at this clinic would never take an animal to them just in it for the money no compassion. You can have best facilities but with ignorant staff you don't get my vote. The vets should really check out their staff closer this was last friday.Feb 3 2011 should be repremanded if not fired would not recommend anyone to take animal their

This is a fantastic vet. We have taken our bunnies here for over 5 years. They even saved one of them from head tilt. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. They are also very understanding about costs. We have never felt pressured to do anything that we don't feel we can afford. There new facilities are very nice bright and clean as well. I would recommend them to anyone.

After 13yrs of health, Cockatoo began severe, life-threatening self mutilation. Drove from Edm to Calg with highly stressed parrot on advise of local Avian Vet. I advised of dietary change 4 months prior-no other change to household. He was malnourished by this time-the vet jumped to the conclusion that I was a bad owner and doing everything wrong-all tests were negative ($1500 worth). They did not recommend a spherical collar or behavior modifation meds, they did prescribe anti-inflammatory/biotics (remember all tests were negative). 18 months later-tried everything/spoke to any/everyone-I found an online article about parrot food allergies-showing as mutilation 6+ months after diet change. He nearly killed himself for 18 months over a FOOD ALLERGY. A food allergy the SPECIALIST DR. MATERI didn't even consider. Parrot is in perfect health/weight now-significant improvement was within 24hrs of removing allergy causing food. She would not hear/listen-my parrot nearly died as a result.
