And when I finally had enough today he said "good luck" with my new vet. Totally unprofessional person - and after reviewing our bills for the last 2 years found several overcharges - so they clearly don't mind cheating you while treating you rudely...customer service is 100% lacking . Click to report rating    8/1/09   1     1     3     3   Brought our kitty in to be neutered and a stitch placed to correct prolapsed rectum. His butt looked horrible when we picked him up,but the staff and dr said not to worry about it. Two days after surgery, kitty still couldn't****.We took him back, and were given a laxative and told to "wait and see".I'm glad I didn't wait and see- we took him to another area vet,who diagnosed a severe fecal impaction and recommended emergency surgery. My sweet little kitten would undoubtedly be dead if I followed the advice of Dr. Larkins and his staff, who didn't bother to check my kitty for something more serious than constipation. The facilities are rundown and littered with aquariums and loud, squawking birds that scared kitty. The dr NEVER introduced himself to me, and gave no meds for kitty's recovery time.Because of their incompetence, we paid $500 for surgery. I'd gladly pay 3x that, but if Dr. Larkins had done the job he's supposedly qualified to do, we never would've had to fork that much $ over. RID: 13692
Click to report rating    10/27/08   4     3     4     5   You as a pet owner have to decide what's best for your family! When it comes to pets and their care - We are all as different in our priorites and expectations as the pets we keep!! Yes, the facility maybe a little run down, and a staff member there may not be your favorite to deal with. This is on the care and service We get from the Doctor whom we have been visiting for 5 yrs now (even after moving out to Volusia County) We have 2 Rotties, and have made many visits to Dr Larkins (some minor ailments, annual check-ups & sadly very serious conditions. HE IS PHENOMENAL!! NEVER having to use a muzzle says alot about his relationship with my babies!! Would you try to insert a needle into a 150 lb dog without one? He is upfront and honest in his diagnosis and treatment! He is the only reason we make the drive! If you want a shiny, fancy facility then maybe it's not for you, But if you want top-notch care and a Dr. that is more into making a difference than a profit GO SEE FOR YOURSELF!! RID: 10382

8/25/08   3     2     1     2   I have been taking my dog here ever since I adopted her about a year ago. She was seen several times over the past year and I was very happy with the care she received until her annual exam on Saturday, 8/23/08. Dr. Larkins did not look at her eyes, her ears or her mouth/teeth nor did he ask me any questions about her general health. All he did was feel her belly and listen to her heart. She tried to bite him when he gave her an injection and he slammed her down on her back on the metal exam table. I can understand not wanting to get bit but we are talking about an eight pound Chihuahua! Was it really necessary to choke her and slam her down on the table? RID: 9764
Click to report rating    5/11/08   1     2     3     1   I went to this vet years ago when it was Dr. Acre and he was wonderful. However, I don't like Dr. Larken, the current owner, at all. I had a cocker with bad ears that we rescued ... he never suggested a culture and sensitivity, and allowed a severe bacterial infection to continue on and on. By the time I realized I needed to seek another vet's help, the inflammation had done too much long-term damage to the ears despite my frequent visits. There was nothing that could be done *then* and the dog had to have his ears removed. I just didn't like his decisions as a vet nor the care he gave my animals. RID: 8470
Click to report rating    3/24/08   5     5     5     5   Awesome vet. If I still lived in Florida he'd be my regular vet. Dr. Larkins was the only vet, in my Boxer's 14 year life, who could examine her without a muzzle. He just got right down on the floor with her and rubbed her & made her comfortable, doing his exam but making it seem like he was just lovin' on her. Also one place I'd definitely trust for any kind of surgical procedure- they neutered my Basenji and were very aware of the breed's sensitivity to anesthesia. They were happy to let me know their anesthesia protocol and the type of induction/gases that are used. I drive an 18 wheeler & once went out of my way to schedule time-off in Orlando & drove my bobtail to Dr. Larkin's office, simply because I feel the quality of care my dog gets from him and his staff are tops in the industry :). I will always bring my pets to him and highly reccomend him to anyone that needs a good vet RID: 5934

5/30/07   5     5     5     5   This Doctor is a wonderful man. Not only is he my family veterinarian, he is the man who allowed me to learn in his facility 5 years ago while pregnant and in school for my veterinary technology career. He is also my employer. We strive to keep our facility clean to prevent disease and our pets that you feel are a clutter are mostly abused, abandoned, unwanted pets who now have a forever home in our office. I pray everyday for our clients and their pets and I go out of my way to make people comfortable in our clinic. Doc Larkins is great. Oh yes, his prices are way below the common vet practice. Price shop and you will see. On top of all of this This wonderful Doctor gives discounted care to 10 different rescue groups. Oh yes today was his day off and a pet needed to be neutered asap so he came in today to neuter this lil tomcat. RID: 4273
Click to report rating    5/30/07   5     5     5     5   My GSD pup had parvo and Doc saved his life. He is caring and the staff is very helpful. They are gentle and caring with the animals. His rates are more than fair too. They have my vote!!!! I Rate them AAAAA+++++ RID: 4270
Click to report rating    5/30/07   2     1     2     1   Just too cluttered in the office, I can understand loving animals, but his office is congested with them (his own pets that is) and he can be really sarcatic as well! I brought in a pup who obviously needed a little stitch from an open wound on his leg and he didnt even care to shave the area to clean the wound, he gave me amoxacillan and guess what? Pup was fine but once I gave him the medicein. He passed away! He shoudl have took more time to care than just throw a prescription at me and rush off the the next client. Oh and yes, the staff is rude and although the place is clean, they are rude about telling you to please move so they can sweep past your feet. I say just Wait until the area is cleared and then do your cleaning! Dont be rude about your cleaning and push people out of your way of have them lift their legs. Be more proffesional about it! RID: 4260
Click to report rating    5/30/07   5     5     4     5   Excellent staff. Very useful. Clean facilities, you might even have to pick up your feet while they clean! If not always punctual, it's because he's spending the time with another client that needs more time, or helping with an emergency animal that walks in the door near death. Truly cares and is compassionate about his work. Most of the time you have the option to drop off in the morning and pick up in the evening if you are going to be at work. Great value for the service that you receive. RID: 4244
