6/27/11   1     3     2     1   Shaffer is one of the worst veterinarian clinics in the northeast Orlando metropolitan area in my experience due to 1) upcharging for lots of unnecessary services until you question them, 2) Poor ethics for recommending solutions for problems that don't even exist (pulling teeth during spay/neuter...what??) and recommending crappy Science Diet dog food over your organic grain-free top shelf highly rated kibble because they get a kick back $ from Hill's brand, 3) Inexperienced vets: they hire kids from vet school because they are cheap, but they are arrogant and repeat their coursework verbatim (they didn't even weigh my dog right, then argued with me about it). If you care about your beloved pet, choose a vet that values ethical business practices over profits. RID: 25855

She did tail amputation on my 12 yr old Malamute that carries significant risk, didn't tell us that complications are common. Prescribed arthritis medicine for pain after surgery and my dog suffered agony. When staff called to check on her next day, I told them she was in agony and was asked if I had leftover Tramadol from tooth extraction previous yr and to give that too. Proper antibiotics were not prescribed for type of surgery done. On recheck two days later, Dr. Patel claimed all was fine. Less than 48 hours later, a hole opened at base of tail. Dr. Shaffer said this type of surgery carried this risk for 12 year old dog and result is not what he wants to see. He prescribed antibiotic known to prevent tissue damage/infection and said we had to hope it works. It's been less than 48 hrs and she's being seen by Dr. Shaffer today. Flesh on and around tail is dying. I know we're going to be told additional surgery is necessary. RID: 22234
11/25/10   5     4     3     2   My puppy passed when with proper diagnosis and more aggressive treatment he may still be here. They were not able to diagnose after him being there an entire day. They sent him home with us when he was not eating or drinking and had a 104 fever, he was also laboring hard to breathe. I spent all night with him and watched him slowly die. It was horrible. However, they had no problem hitting us with a huge bill, and the audacity to charge us a full day of hospital treatment the next day when they were only opened for half a day! They failed miserably in many categories, and now I am left with just questions and sorrow. RID: 21061

9/27/10   5     5     5     5   on 8/26/2010 we posted a review under Shaffer Animal Hospital by mistake regarding our Collie T.C. That bad review was to go under Central Florida Animal Hospital not Shaffer Animal Hospital. Shaffer was wonderful with us and helped us through the horrible ordeal of having to put down our loved family member. RID: 19944

Click to report rating    8/20/10   5     5     5     5   The most amazing veterinarian's office ever. They're kind & compassionate. I never feel rushed. I always leave there w/ all my questions answered and then some, Dr. Jeff is so knowledgable and personable too. He has taken great care of all of my animals, 3 ferrets & two dogs. The staff is always courteous also, they all really go out of their way to make you feel special. RID: 19330
Click to report rating    7/7/08   2     5     5     3   I have a dog that tends to bite when under stress, and they didn't listen to me when I told them that. I told them to wait until the vet was in the room before holding the dog or getting him on the table. To make matters worst, they technician went out of the room after agitating my dog and came back with 2 more ppl. I know their safety is a priority, but they should have listen to me and follow my suggestions, instead of doing things the same way they are used to with a regular pet. RID: 9188
