I had a kitten that lost a lot of hair. They did a skin scrape on her ear (AND GAVE HER A SCAR) though she had MANY hairless spots all over her body (and as a veterinary technician I now know that the ear is the LAST place you want to take a sample from if there are others available!!) They told me she did NOT need to be seperated from my other pets, gave me a shampoo and told me they'd call me in 2 weeks when the fungal culture came back...this cost me $160! 2 1/2 weeks later I called them and asked for the results - they said it was all negative. I replied that was very interesting since I had 2 other cats with bald spots and MY DOCTOR HAD DIAGNOSED ME WITH RINGWORM! They said that I could bring them for testing, but it would cost me $160 each!!! Needless to say, I didN't return and I found another vet who charged me 1/4 of that to do a Woods Lamp Test & gave me medication that cleared it up very quickly! ALTAMONTE VETERINARY HOSPITAL & Dr. Larkins are wonderful!
