Click to report rating    7/21/08   5     4     5     3   I took my dog to VCA when he began wheezing for air. During my visit, I met Kelly, the most endearing vet tech in the world. My dog was adopted from the pound & he didn't look good b/c he had been through a lot. Yet, Kelly wasn't put off by his looks & her kindness towards him really moved me. My dog was seen by Dr. Carlton. I didn't really like him. He angered me when he told me that my dog's attempt to bite him indicated he'd be problematic. What did he expect? My dog had been neutered at the pound the day before & Dr. Carlton was roughly touching him in that area! He was also really scared b/c while waiting we heard a dog crying in the next room. Dr. Carlton examined the incision by squeezing it even though he knew my dog wasn't on pain killers. When my dog whimpered in pain, I almost cried. I love the staff, especially Kelly & the office's receptionist but Dr. Carlton is another story. The visit was pricey but a coupon I got off their website really helped with the costs. RID: 9393
Click to report rating    6/4/07   3     5     5     2   We are first time puppy parents and we went here by recommendation and the staff were all really nice, but from the first visit I didn't get the greatest vibe from the doctor. We continued to go for a couple more visits (to get her shots) and I started to notice that the doctor would come in and go by the original symptoms that were given over the phone and not really even examine our dog at all. He would ask "Any questions" and we would ask simple things such as "how often should she be going to the bathroom" and he would always answer, "well do you think that's normal?" How would we know? Anyway, we continued to go and eventually planned to spay her, we asked for a quote and they told us that it would be $480!!! (She only weighed 6 lbs at this point and was assumed to be no more then 11) Anyway, we started calling around to other places for quotes and realized that they were WAY over charging. So we have since switched to Maitland Vet Clinic and I am so glad we did. RID: 4355
