Click to report rating    1/3/14   5     5     5     5   Awesome, compassionate, caring are not adequate to describe Dr. Dykes. He always went over and beyond when it came to the care of my dogs. I never met anyone within the Foley/Gulfshores are who had any negative remarks about Dr. Dykes and his staff. When the time came for my little Katie to be put to rest with her ongoing cancer, Dr. Dykes came to our house and also offered to bury her for us. We were moving back home the next week. His rates for service are the most reasonable of any vets I have had experience with. I trust him 100% with my vets and cannot praise him enough. RID: 49065
Click to report rating    9/15/12   1     3     3     1   My senior chihuahua mix Cleo died because I took her to Dykes Animal Hospital in Foley and they prescribed an antiibiotic that killed her. When I took her to Dykes, she was happy and rambunctious. We went to them because we were forced to evacuate because of Hurricane Isaac, and they were recommended. I told Dr. Shriver she had taken Clavamox for months before getting her teeth pulled, because of a kidney infection. He asked no questions and prescribed SMZ-TMP and Clindamycin. She had five doses before I realized something was wrong, so I discontinued meds and rushed her to my vet first thing Tuesday. They told me she was in renal failure, and put her on an IV. Though at first she seemed improve, she died in the night of renal failure. I have tried to contact Dykes, asked them to call my local vet, but gotten no response. My dog was elderly and incontinent, but in no way sick when she went to that office. SMZ-TMP kills older dogs with kidney issues, or anemia, or liver issues. RID: 37209
