Fish Creek used to be really good, but it was bought out by a corporation & most of their staff left. I wouldn't have gone there at all, but my dog was very sick & they were the closest. Big mistake. I found them to be unscrupulous, the front desk staff to be immature & dishonest & the attending veterinarian uncaring and unconcerned. My dog almost died. I left there & took my pet to Alpine where she received excellent care. Had I not taken her to Alpine, she would not be alive today.

I phoned on arrival and was greeted by an extremely rude women who put me on hold and eventually hung up on me so I had to phone back. After waiting 50 minutes in the parking lot, a Vet phoned me and I explained why I was there, then took the dog to an attendant at the door. I was told they would check the dog over and run some tests which would take 30 minutes. After waiting over 3 hours in the parking lot and no phone call, I asked an attendant at the door if she could find out the dog’s status. This woman was really rude too, and told me I had to phone back in. When I phoned I was told the dog was not doing good, wouldn’t be discharged, and that I should go home. I waited over 3 hours in the parking lot for that response? It’s obvious this place has management and staffing problems that need to be addressed. Even if their busy, there is no excuse for being rude and not communicating properly with clients. I will never go back there and would not recommend this place.

The staff and veterinarians are good. The wait time is horrendous! Be prepared to wait up to 3 hours or more. They don't seem to care about making their clients wait either. The prices are high too. It seems that their only concern is to make money because they don't hire more staff in order to make the wait time less.

I am disgusted at this clinic never again will I step into this clinic or speak with them over the phone and yes this includes the managers and had the not so nice pleasure of speaking to someone claiming to be the owner, very rude, condescending, disorganized and has no problem telling you off, being rude never again.

Had to see Dr. Daniel Katz for my pet, and it felt like a horrible popularity show. I don't care that you want to be insta famous, I want you to be knowledgeable and a good vet. I do not recommend seeing Dr. Katz unless you'd like to be asked out on a date. Gross.

Have now had two very poor experiences with this clinic. Back in the summer my cat was bitten on its tail and the vet completely missed the two puncture holes on the bottom of his tail and only treated the top. Last week I brought my cat in because his tail had another new injury and he was in a lot of pain. They told me they were going to sedate him and shave the sore part of the tail to get a better look. They sedated him, barely shaved him, and came back to tell me to just "monitor him for pain and bring him back if he doesn't improve." Today I took him to a different vet because he hadn't improved and it took this vet a whole 15 minutes to find the abscess that was causing him pain. I cannot fathom how they put my cat through sedation and COMPLETELY missed the problem. $250 and nothing to show for it except an arbitrary prescription for pain meds. So incredibly unimpressed.

My exceptionally trained dog went in for a blood test & came out with a partially torn CCL on the leg they pulled from & dead bottom canine on the other side of his face (the arthritis he was left with in that injury is significant & something he will NEVER recover from - he’s in CONSTANT pain). How clinic owner Dr. Van Sluys has chosen to handle it is what is most alarming. When it first happened I was told that it was not their policy to pull out of the back legs & only done in extreme cases of “aggressive” dogs; my only request was that whoever handled him no longer handled any breeds that they would automatically treat differently, in exchange I offered to sign an NDA (my concern was ALWAYS the safety of other dogs), their only concern was avoiding accountability & kept saying they didn’t know who handled my dog. VS serves on the committee for the ABVMA & they will avoid accountability by any means necessary.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! THEY MISTREAT ANIMALS AND THEN LAUGH IN YOUR FACE WHEN YOU CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! WE STAND WITH CZR AND WE WILL NOT BE SILENCE, YOU PIECE OF CRAP STAFF!! MISTREATED HIM AND INJURED HIS LEG THEN WHEN THE OWNER HELD YOU RESPONSIBLE YOU LIED AND COVERED UP WHAT YOU DID! YOU ARE DISGUSTING AND YOU ARE WHAT IS WRONG IN THE WOLD TODAY!! I HOPE EVERY SINGLE POTENTIAL “ PATIENT” DECIDES TO READ THIS AND GOES ELSE WHERE!! YOU LIARS!!

Absolutely amazing clinic!! Right from the time we walked in the door we were met with exceptional service and first class people. Our dog suffered an accident after getting too close to a deer and was having problems with his mouth. When we were called back into the room the vet could see that I was worried and my dog was in pain but she was so kind and it was obvious she cares deeply for animals it helped to ease some of the worry. He ended up needing surgery and although they were quite busy she managed to fit him in and I was able to pick him up later that day. They called me twice during the day to provide updates on his condition and to let me know how surgery went. When we arrived Dr. Tathiana Anacleto, (an absolutely amazing veterinarian!!) met us in the lobby and gave my kids the tooth she had surgically removed. After seeing the care our dog received compared to a previous clinic we had been to my kids proclaimed that was the only place that could touch our dog again!

We brought our new 1 year old PetitBrabancon in for a check up. 5 days after her visit to the Doctor she gave birth. We had no idea!
A month after the puppy was born, she started vomiting. We brought her to the clinic payed for several tests but couldn't afford to pay much more. The only option we were given was to surrender the puppy to an anonymous staff member who would cover the bill. We had no choice but to give her best chance of survival. We were Heartbroken.
We only asked that when they found out what was wrong, they simply inform us whether or not our other two adult dogs would be at risk.
When we called to follow up, they repeated that they couldn't tell us anything. If we were concerned we should bring both our dogs in for another consult, another $92 each. I asked that the girl on the phone leave a note for the new adoptive mother to just ask if she would release the results of tests for our own peace of mind. She refused to even reach out on our behalf.
All awful.

On Thursday the 29th of June I had to take my Jack Russell in to get an x-ray on her hip. Being a Jack Russell she can be a little boisterous at times there were a couple of other dogs there that barked occasionally she returned the barks and occasionally let everybody know that she was still there. After about forty five minutes one of the desk attendants came and sat beside me and highly suggested we move to a secluded area because my dogs bark was echoing through the building.....what she was getting at was your little dog that's in pain is annoying us so we're going to put you out of sight and ignore you and hope you and your poorly behaved dog leave.I was told that we would be next to be seen.....well we waited and watched people come in long after we did and leave before we did.I understand emergencies take precedence these were not..two hours later I finally walked out without any xrays or service of any kind.So sit up straight be on your best behaviour or no service for you.

Dr. Erin and the staff at Fish Creek were phenomenal. They spent so much time with me, going over my options, going over costs before they did any procedures. I've never met a vet or a clinic that was so open with costs and considerate to the fact that treatments are expensive! She went over every option from the most basic to the most extensive and was very respectful to all of my decisions. She also cared about how much stress my cat was being put through and weighed that into her recommendations. My cat LOVES her. He is normally terrified to go to a clinic, but at Fish Creek he is purring for all of the staff! Thank you so much to Fish Creek for being a clinic I trust and recommend to anyone. I work at a veterinary hospital and get discounts, and I would rather bring my cat here and pay the money for the wonderful treatment we get.

We drove across town to come here and it was well worth it! Mark was our ER vet and he spent time educating us and helping us realize that we do not have to spend and do every test to get the best care for our puppy. He breaks down what is needed for the time. Not only was the fee reasonable (does not charge an ER vet fee for dropping in without an appointment like every other hospital in Calgary) but allows you to come back for a free followup visit if the issue persists. There is no unnecessary upselling here. He was bang on about our puppy's diagnosis and we now have the knowledge to provide better care for her over the long term (and save money on unneeded vet visits). Love this clinic - wish I had discovered it months ago...would have saved over a thousand dollars in unneeded vet costs.

I have followed Dr Norman from his old clinic to this new one. He is the most amazing vet I've encountered, always makes time for any of his patients (perhaps why he's running so much, in that he wants to make sure everyone is taken care of). They were very accommodating and compassionate when I had to put my big guy down a year ago. Would recommend him or any of the vet staff here (and have - my mom now takes her dog there too). Nothing but praise for them.

Dr Amber chastised me claiming they tried to reach me multiple times. This is ridiculous. The first time was early in the morning and I was asleep, I called back when I woke up. The second time I was driving and of course I won't be answering while driving. When I called back, Dr Amber was very disapproving of how it was impossible to reach me after trying 'multiple times.' Yeah right, my phone has a record the two phone calls they made (both of which I returned.) Dr Amber's tone of voice was confrontational, condescending, and she felt the need to chastise me! This is funny because whenever you try to call them, they always put you on hold. The staff can be friendly or unfriendly, it's a crap shoot. The vets are mostly 'holier than thou' and are annoyed that you are taking up their time. Avoid this place!

My family has taken our dogs to this vet clinic for the past 4 years and they are amazing. Sometimes they won't charge for a simple procedure (removing stitches) even if they didn't do the surgery! The staff is knowledgeable and if they aren't certain (i.e. Vet in training) they always ensure they get a second opinion. Highly recommend this place!

I walked out of your clinic today after being ignored for 45 minutes when bringing my Jack Russell puppy in for her scheduled spay surgery. When I first came in, I went up to the desk, and was ignored, I chalked it up to them being busy and sat down and waited politely with a couple of other customers. I watched as food and paper towels were put away, and phones were answered and people put on hold and forgotten. I assured myself that someone would take care of me as soon as possible, because surely they would be looking for the jack russell on the surgery schedule. Not once in 45 min did one of the staff look up at any of us, and ask if we had been taken care of. At this point I was wondering if this was a safe place to bring my precious puppy for surgery, if they could not keep track of a couple of customers sitting right in front of their faces, what kind of care would my puppy receive when I was not there to keep an eye on her?

I was so impressed with the service, care, and attention that fishcreek gave my 4 month old purebred GSD. I was recommended there by my vet, and could not be happier. They saw my puppy right away (fractured ankle), x-rays and check up and splint. The cost was very good as well as they needed more x-rays so they told me they would give me a discount as well as no consult charge. Very friendly recept. staff, as I called and harassed them every 10 mins to see how my dog was lol. They were always polite and said nice things about my puppy. The vets are amazing and honest. Very open with what they are doing as well as cost estimates before they went ahead and did anything. Would recommend this vet/hospital to anyone. If there is an emergency and you have to wait, it is definitely worth it. Clean and modern facility as well!!!! A++++++ in my opinion! THANKS FISHCREEK 24H HOSPITAL!

Fish creek is my normal vet as well as the vet I use for emergencies. I LOVE the vets and they don't do or recommend needless procedures to make money and I feel like they are very honest and knowledgeable. I unfortunatly have had bad experiences with the receptionists on the phone and the techs don't seem to have much pacience when it comes to the dogs. I realize they are not going to coddle my dog when he is afraid but when they just to drag him by his collar and leash into the back and jerk him hard on the leash when they bring him out out because he is pulling isn't appropriate and it doesn't make me feel comfortable leaving him there. If it were not for the vets going above and beyond I would not bring my pets here.

I think this clinic is wonderful. Staff was very pleasant as were the doctors. Of course they are busy as they are an emergency clinic. Just like people hospitals there is a wait time to be expected. I left my cat there overnight and he was well cared for. I find that their rates are resonable based on past experience with other clinics.

Our large breed dog had been attacked by another dog and suffered some bite and puncture wounds. We originally took him to Calgary North Vet and well... anyways. A few days later we took him into FCV on the recommendation of a neighbour when his wounds that had scabbed over reopened and began looking ugly. They had a few emergencies that came in so it was a bit of a wait, understandably. When Dr. Katie came out, she was great. Apologetic about the wait, and took him in right away. He needed some surgery and she explained it to me, then went right to it. A few hours later my husband and I went to pick our boy up and were so impressed with what she did and the advice and medication they prescribed. When we got the bill, we were shocked. It was SO inexpensive compared to other vets. Only slightly more than we paid at Calgary North, who simply looked at the wound, didn't even clean it, and just prescribed us meds. WOW. We will always be coming back to see Dr Katie, despite the 45 min drive

I have used this clinic since it opened and have used Dr. Norman for years before that. The care and level of service are outstanding. Dr. Norman and his team have dealt with many emergencies for me over the years as well as the routine stuff and they are always available and caring. In my experience they have always been right on with their diagnosis and have worked to the best outcome possible in the circumstances. This is an emergency clinic so they need to triage animals that come in so sometimes there may be a wait if there is an emergency but that is exactly as it should be. I want my emergencies treated the same way!

Worst place ever - do not take your pets there. Facilities are nice, the staff are not. I took my cat there for emergency IV overnight care. $600 later, I found out they double charged me for a blood slide already provided by my vet. When I pointed it out, they said oh it wasn't good enough. Then I discovered the vet tech purposely didn't bother giving my cat any pain medication that was specifically asked for by my vet. She said she didn't think he was in 'that much pain'. He spent his last 24 hrs in the hands of these monsters, it haunts me to this day the pain he needlessly suffered.

I used to see many of these vets before they opened fishcreek and thought they were all wonderful, and for the most part still do however when I took my pup in for a walkin because if a ripped dewclaw I felt like I was wasting the doctors time. The staff made me feel I was wasting their time I didn't even see a veterinarian, someone came from the back took my dog and 15 min later brought her out with a bandage said 'keep an eye on it' then gave me a bill for $100. I'm frustrated as anytime I've gone in nothing gets explained : (. The cost isn't always as it seems again $100 for what, what did they do with my dog all I know is someone took her and brought her back with a bandage. I don't think I will be recommending this clinic to others

Dr Mark Norman and the rest of the staff are great, they care about your animal as if it was their own. They will always see you no matter how busy they are, they understand that an animal can't tell you where they hurt. Busy vets are usually the best place to take your animal, it means that lots of people know how great they are. When it was time to say goodbye to Molly this was the only place we wanted to be. The staff were amazing.Dr Norman understands what you go through and how to treat your animal AND how to treat you as a paying customer. The rates are lower than anywhere else I know of. If you need treatment for your animal go here.

They're friendly, prompt and seem to care about the animal's well-being, however, they misdiagnosed my dog's bone cancer as age-related arthritis and muscle deterioration. According to the second vet we saw, they should have known that it was cancer as soon as they saw the x-rays. It might have just been a one-time mistake -- no one is perfect -- but I can't help but be wary of them after that.

I've had a lot of great support from the staff at Fishcreek Hospital. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful whenever my Mastiff or smaller dog have had troubles....and they've had a ton. They are also 24 hour so it keeps my mind at ease to know that I've got a clinic to go to if I have any emergencies. It's also my regular clinic so they have the history of my pets on file. I definitely won't be switching clinics!
