All of my four canines have had very good attention and professional care from staff and three veterinary doctors over close to 3 and one half years for a variety of maladies, including several quite unusual ones. Thanks to their expertise and focused efforts, the life of one patient was extended by some 18 months and the chronic issues of the most health challenged one have been alleviated to the the greatest extent possible. Regret not having switched to this Practice much sooner. Given the many conflicting complexities of today's world, an expectation of perfection in health care services is more unrealistic than ever. And success in treatment ultimately also greatly depends upon guardian relevant knowledge of the patient and their ability to advocate on the patient's behalf. In essence, the performance of the team at this Practice has met a level of "most highly recommended" based upon my overall 13.5-year direct guardian experience with canine veterinary services.

Would you trust your pet with a woman who got arrested for child abuse?

As a former employee of 6 years at Calista Animal Hospital and a current veterinary student, I can promise you that Dr. Calista has never treated her employees badly. Everything I know is because she was patient and took the time to teach me. I applied to the clinic in 2008 because I was so impressed with the quality of care my pets received and it was the best decision I ever made. Majority of the negative reviews are usually from disgruntled employees that strayed from the philosophy of the practice which, in a nutshell, is to always put the patient and their owners first. If you want high quality care and excellent knowledge, this is the place to go.

I had a bad experience at Calista Animal Hospital, both regarding the care of my cat and management's handling of my complaint (they ignored it completely). I had been unhappy with them for awhile due to wait times and their habit of treating my cat and dog out back where I couldn't see if they were doing what they were charging me for, but it took this latest incident to spur me to change vets and to write this review. I will never go there again.

This is the most amazing vet clinic I have eer been to. They go above and beyond. This includes continuos update calls, calls after hours and on weekends as well as visits to see a sick pet, immediate emergency care, bereavement kindness and many other services. They are the only ones I would ever trust with the life of my pets. Thank you for giving me peace of mind that my angels are in amazing hands. You are truly a blessing from doctors to techs to front office staff. My "babies" and I thank you.

I am reasonably confident that if clients were aware of how Carol Calista treats her employees and fellow Doctors, they would think twice about their patronage of her business. Calista appears to have no concept of a work-life balance (beyond her own) and has very little regard for the well-being or job satisfaction of her staff. From what I have seen as a client and ex-employee, excluding a couple of her minions, Calista’s staff is overworked, underpaid, and vastly unappreciated. The overall morale in that clinic is lower than the Titanic’s starboard side. Please spend your money elsewhere. Somewhere that understands and appreciates the correlation between happy healthy employees and the level of care and service they provide. Your pet's life may depend on it.

Calista has no regard for her employees. They are under-trained, under-appreciated, and over-worked. They lose lab work, give out the wrong meds, and tell "white lies" to owners to cover up their mistakes. Do not risk taking your pets there!

Although Calista Animal Hospital is cheaper than most of the other vets I've gone to in Las Cruces, I would NOT recommend taking your diabetic pet there. Now my experience is only with a diabetic cat and this hospital. Even when told that the cat did NOT need insulin, they still tried to give it to him anyway. If I had not been there, checking the records on my other cat, then they could have killed him by giving him the insulin he did not need. He was in for dental work and the anestesia would not have helped him any either. They were unwilling to work with me on my cats' (I have two diabetics) diabetes and only refered back to the last vet's incorrect notes instead of looking at the notes I provided them and going from there. They were unwilling to listen to me, because I was not a vet which they had the gall to TELL me (literally said ' you are not a vet, why should we listen to you?' and I decided it wasn't worth loosing a cat over. I will never go there again.
