When you leave your pet there for the day or overnight, please know that your pets are kept in cages in a dingy, downstairs basement near garage equipment. The area is very unclean looking & the staff is rude. They are short tempered & treat pet owners very disrespectful. They always seem bored to be there & act like you are bothering them. I felt so bad for my dog & other peoples pets when I saw the area myself. I recommend going to a better, cleaner facility that I feel my pet is worth. My dog deserves better then to be kept in a cage on a dirty, basement floor by cobwebs & lawnmowers. RID: 53033
Click to report rating    4/19/13   1     1     1     1   When you walk into Northern Pike Veterinary Hospital, do you notice those little camera monitors in the lobby and exam offices? I never had a problem with being on camera, but when there is nothing posted on or around the building I have to begin to wonder why it is that i'm being monitored. It is tacky and distasteful! And if not not mistaken, it is the law to have it posted that you are on camera. The staff is rough with animals and if you listen to the "muffled talking" outside the door, their bedside manner is disgraceful and rude. RID: 41890
Click to report rating    7/25/11   4     4     5     4   Moved here from Indy last Jan. My dog had seen the same vet for entire life in Indy. Took my dog here and am very happy so far. Dr. Bill explained everything he was doing or suggesting doing. I had them do a senior exam and the price was comparable to my Indy Vet. Not cheap but not out of the norm for professional care. Very good with my dog. Wait was not long. I would recommend. RID: 26449
Click to report rating    5/9/11   1     1     1     1   My cat was diagnosed with kidney disease in April 2011 after a routine visit. The staff took 3 days to get us the results (appointment was Saturday, they finally got back to us Tuesday), even through her diagnosis was critical. The vets seems far more concerned with money than they do pet care. Expect a long wait (hour +) for routine bloodwork even when you have an appointment. If you ask for test results quickly, they will tell you it's possible then won't bother to call you. RID: 24891
4/18/11   1     1     1     1   This Vet told my mother that the cat I had given her, with her vaccines up to date till July of 2012, in April of 2011, made her revaccinate this cat. Her reasoning was that my mother didn't have the paperwork. My mother told this vet, that it was my cat and she knew that I had taken care of the cat and had her vaccinated. I had a sick infant and couldn't get to my vet's office to get the copies of the papers to them that day. They told my mother she could not leave with the cat until she vaccinated her again. It was the law. Since when??? I called to talk with the vet, she refused to call me back and then called my mother because I said I would report them to the BBB. She told my mother to tell me go ahead, that the BBB couldn't do anything to them and that I no longer owned the cat, so I have no say in what she the vet does to this cat. Where does she get off? Beware, they don't care for your money or your pet! Over-vaccinating cats causes cancer, she said she didn't care. RID: 24469
Click to report rating    8/29/10   1     2     1     1   My dog was treated for yeast infection of the ears when he had a severe ear infection. He is a registered, expensive breeding dog who lost his hearing because of the incompetence of this facility. When I questioned the treatment, I was told that I could return and pay another full price. The mistake was theirs. They do not admit mistakes, compensate for them, or take care of beloved pets! RID: 19471
Click to report rating    7/30/10   2     2     3     1   I used to take my two dogs to this vet. i always had a really good experience with them until one time i took my little dachshund to them to check her for demodex since she was exposed to it from another dog and they told me her ears were full of yeast so they cleaned them. they did not ask if they could do this , but i took it as they were the doctors so they knew what they were doing. then she had a reaction to the treatment they used. so back to the office i went. eventually, i had to keep going back to treat the treatment four or five times. her fur fell out from the steroids and her ears badly inflamed. each time i was charged for a full appointment. after a really large bill and the dog not better. i asked for my records for another opinion. they told me not to return.i was never rude to them. they in fact did my dog a favor. now i go to beaver animal clinic and my dog is treated holistically. RID: 19006
Click to report rating    5/18/09   4     4     4     2   This is not a vet that is friendly towards dog breeders. They are badly overpriced. RID: 12845
Click to report rating    8/29/08   5     5     4     5   This is the best vet around! They definitely care about your pet. They will go above and beyond during your appointment. No matter what I come in for my dog always gets a complete head-to-tail physical and they have found things I didn't even know my dog had wrong with him. They may be slightly expensive, but they give estimates before they do anything, so you can decline and perform whatever tests you want. Dr. Martin, the owner, is awesome...she always tells it like it is and i appreciate that in my doctor, even if she is a vet. If the news is good she tells you, and if it's bad she tells you that too. All of the staff is very knowledgable and Dr. Martin has really staffed some one-of-a-kind people, they are all as compassionate as her. She even has a male tech on her staff who will be going to vet school in the future (talk about building for the future!) He is very well-spoken and handsome as well, I hope he returns there as a vet someday. I wouldn't ever go anywhere else! RID: 9803
Click to report rating    6/23/07   5     5     4     4   Dr. Martin is extremely knowledgeable and caring. Her bedside manner can be a bit abrupt, but she truly has the animals interest at heart.I highly recommend this vet practice. There are 5 vets in this practice, but yet it remains very individualized. You don't feel like a number, you feel like they truly care about you and your pet. They've saved my dogs life not once, but twice, literally. They aren't the cheapest place around, but you get what you pay for! With this vet, you walk out feeling well taken care of and you understand exactly what your animal needs in terms of both short and long term care. They go above and beyond caring for your pet. Dr. Martin even takes severe cases home with her to ensure they get the best of the best of care instead of leaving them unattended at the hospital overnight. She's one of a kind and her entire staff is just like her! RID: 4781
