Price gouging is ridiculous. For example Anal glad expression has doubled in a year. $80 for a 2 minute procedure? High staff turnover means lack of service contintuity. John and Alda were the heart and soul of TAC. The new business model is very cold and expensive.

Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Matthew Richardson is seasoned and trustworthy. Most other vets there are decent. The boss, John Reeve-Newson has since retired--should have done so sooner in my opinion. Nice thing is, there are a team of vets there so you can get several opinions in one visit. One man vet offices, especially with recent grads are a total waste of time and money. They have no clue. Once a younger vet at this office gave me some bum advice about a heart murmur. After seeing a board certified cardiologist, and every test under the sun, there was nothing to it. But that was an isolated incident. Overall, this is a solid vet office and you will be well served. They don't try to up-sell you too much with pointless tests. Follow up is BY PHONE. No auto-email baloney. Unusual requests, like arranging a necropsy for my dog was no problem. My main beef is the horrible parking situation (4/5 for that). And expensive; but if your pet is important you can't go wrong here.

Professional, well educated staff. This high end clinic is proof you always get what you pay for. Pay less - get half hearted advice, less professional staff and less knowledge. Pay what Veterinary Medical care is actually worth... without complaining (keep in mind folks, our health care is free for most of us so you don't often think about cost of vaccines, appointments, ect.!) and you'll be impressed with the services at The Animal Clinic. They have old and young vets - a veteran view and a fresh out of school view for each case (the 4-5 vets always discuss amongst themselves). They are always on the cutting edge of advancements, tests, knowledge and equipment. I'd trust them with my own life, and when my pets mean the world to me thats the standard i'm looking for!

Horrible customer service. Usually there is a pleasant young man at the desk. This time there were two ladies who both ignored me as I walked in and proceeded to do so for ten minutes. One was busy with a customer, the other was on her computer, walked around, looked at me. I do not think a simple "Hello" as I walked in the door would have upset the customer being helped. Or the one doing nothing could have checked me in at least. Facilities are great, too bad all of the vets are going for the "Salesman of the Year" Award. I told them I was trying to be as natural and healthy with my cat's diet as possible, cost was no concern. They bring me a pamphlet for "Hills", a low-grade food product filled with preservatives and artificial ingredients and flavours, and "don't recommend" the healthy diet I have chosen. They suggest unnecessary procedures, you know "Just in case". NO THANK YOU. DO NOT GO HERE unless you enjoy being ripped off and treated like you don't know anything.

On and off I read the reviews on this site, At times, I get upset for The Animal Clinic. Some ratings are down right distorted and untruthful. I have been with The Animal Clinic for over 10 years. Recently, I had to make the painful decision of having to put down my beloved cat. After 16 long years, I had to say good bye. Compassionate doesn't begin to describe the entire staff of the clinic. The owners Dr. John Reeve-Newson and Dr. Matthew Richardson were considerate, thoughtful and extremely loyal to my kitty. They even sent me a beautiful Orchid the next day to say how missed my beloved kitty will be. The Animal Clinic, will always stand "head and shoulders above the rest"

My cat had a urinary blockage. It's mediocre to be honest. Staff was curt. I did research and informed myself that cats with this particular condition must not be on dry food. Dry food doesn't retain moisture thus it prevents fluid flowing through the urethra as efficiently. Was I informed? Absolutely not. It happened again and I took my cat to another hospital costing me another $1600. The vet was pleasant but you have to be if you're getting almost 2 grand from me on the spot. There has to be a better vet in this city. Anyone?

I wanted to write the following email regarding The Animal Clinic. I am a new client of the clinic, highly recommended by my sister. My first appointment was an excellent experience, I had the pleasure of seeing Dr John Reeve Newson and although he told me he no longer sees new clients, he made an acceptation for me. I was delighted to be seen by the best.
I received value for my money, time to ask questions and an overall positive experience. Dr John Reeve-Newson is a real gem, I will certainly continue to see him and tell everyone I know about this hidden treasure in the heart of downtown Toronto.
I would recommend them to anyone wishing to be seen by the VERY best.
Sincerely,
Your loyal client

General staff are nice except for the office manager. As of the clinic they rape you with their rates, the are almost double in the fees from other clinics, I will not go back to them and after discussions with friends who go there they are very much ready to move out.

When my cat stopped eating and started acting mopey I was worried that something was wrong with her stomach..she is 11 years old but had never had any health issues. I took her to another vet who gave me the
runaround and took several visits to tell me she had an inflammation of her
gums and that I should put her to sleep because her quality of life would
not be good. Of course being as stubborn as I am I ended up at The Animal Clinic for a second opinion. The vet there had a diagnosis for us right
away, and we took home medication to treat her that same day.
Never any mention of putting her down...It took a couple of tries to get
her dosage right but she is now eating like a champ, and her gums are no
longer bleeding. I'm so happy to have her be back to her old self! Very
impressed with the Drs there. The staff are also wonderful. If you're not
sure about your current vet, look for a second opinion! It truly pays off
to find a good vet who actually cares about your

I have been at this clinic for almost 2yrs now and have been nothing but floored by the level of care, commitment, and compassion from the entire staff. I have always had all my questions answered (even the ridiculous ones) and both of my dogs love coming there! My dog requires a lot of grooming and can be a bit of a terror but the groomer on staff is amazing with her, and does a great job to boot! I recommend this clinic to everyone looking for the most they can get for their money...well worth every penny!!

I've never had a vet my animals like coming to, even my cats are happy and comfortable here! Probably because the staff takes their time to make pets and people comfortable, my dog and cats were given treats and bellyrubs before any 'scary' treatments and I was offered a coffee while waiting for them. I had one of the shortest wait times I have ever had at a vet clinic (or any doctors!) and everyone was friendly. They gave me many options for my dogs ongoing skin problems and helped me work within my budget to get the best treatment plan possible. I am impressed!

The Animal Clinic is the best vetrinary hospital I've ever taken my pets to. The staff are very compassionate, the doctors take great pride in ensuring the safety and well being of every animal they treat is at the highest standard. I will continue to take my pets to this clinic and will reccommend it to all of my friends and family. Also, the Manager of this clinic is one of the most charming and heart warming people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting - she set my mind at ease when I brought my cat in for an emergency check up. Thank you so much!

I'm so impressed by The Animal Clinic, starting from the reception staff followed by the technicians,(who by the way were so compassionate and truly cared about our dog)treated by Dr Richardson. He is truthful with the diagnosis he provides and is sensitive to the cost of treatment. I certainly will recommend The Animal Clinic to everyone at the dog park.

The only good thing about this vet clinic is the way it looks, it's lovely, clean and modern. The vet we saw seemed knowledgeable. I will however, never return to this clinic because they seriously rip you off. They WAY overcharge for even basic services and recommend unnecessary tests and services obviously just to get the maximum $$ out of you. I found a vet who is just as good, caring and charges one quarter of what this vet charged me for the exact same services.

I have recently become a new client of The Animal Clinic and WOW I'm impressed. The doctors and staff are very compassionate, understanding and patient. I have been a client at the Animal Clinic for over 2 decades. My dogs - now, 5 show/field trial champions - have received nothing but the very best of care from the support staff and in my estimation, the vet's care deeply for the animals. One of my dogs loved to go there because she was in love with one of the support staff. Recently, one of my top dogs had major surgery. I was allowed to visit her daily and bring chicken for her to get herstarted eating. There is no other place I would take my animals.

I want to make an apology. The animal clinic is a great clinic, when I first posted I was still upset over losing a young cat(tonic)and being a first time pet owner there is still alot I need to learn and experience. I can not blame anyone I know my reaction to losing him was devestating experience for me and my actions towards it wasn't appropriate. The staff at the animal clinic gave me the best service they can provide and have been extremely patient with me. They took the time to figure out what my needs are, but as I need to remind myself my cats are the patient so I need to learn that their needs come first.

We have been taking our cat to see Dr. John Reeve-Newson for the last six years and he is the best. He is patient and takes the time to answer questions. He also adores our cat and makes sure she gets cuddles before her exam which is great because she gets a little stressed when she is not home. I appreciate that the waiting area has one side for cats and one side for dogs. We've seen other vets at the clinic and have always had a pleasant experience. Yes, their prices are a little higher but you get what you pay for.

I took my 3 cats here. I have a mixed experience with them first visit I was treated well when I brought in Gin and Tonic, then I adopted Indigo as a kitten, they took care of him right up to his day of being neutered which was about a year of being their client. Tonic passed away in October 2010 I had to call them to let them know so I wouldn't have to explain to them around thier reminder call for weight-in and annual check-up. 2 annual visits, a kitten wellness exam and neutering and I feel from all my visits to be rushed, sometimes ignored and feeling that I am not being treated well for being a first time cat parent. I have mixed feelings about them they have a great facility and Jody receptions is great but sometimes you never know what your going to get from them. I need comfort and consitency and it seems they do not offer it.

This clinic is all about making the maximum profit in the shortest time. Tests and prescription drugs and a food inventory. Avoid this clinic if you really love your pet.

My cat was tortured by Dr. Martinger and his inexperienced technicians. They jabbed his hind legs 7 times in order to try to insert a needle. Then they chopped his nails so badly that the vein was cut on several paw tips. My cat was traumatized and this vet blamed it on the cat!

Dr. Palerme has the bedside manner of a goat. It took ME placing a phone call to him to find out he knew that my dog had a positive fecal culture result for E.coli that needed treating. Then he prescribed the wrong dose of a potentially harmful drug! This clinic is more about making money then caring for your pets. I feel very much like I'm being talked down to every time I'm there. Dr.Palerme specifically, needs to realize that people are more knowledgable then what he gives them credit for. I'm switching back to my old vet, a 45 minute drive, but totally worth the gas money and time to feel that my pets are actually patients and not just a case number.

Although the clinic is right across the street from me and is convenient I can not justify going to this clinic any more. Very busy, so it's hard to get an appointment, expensive, rude staff, and vet is not knowledgeable. You would think with so many vets in this practice they would be able to figure out that my cat had a torn ligament. Instead I moved to a new vet that is farther away, cheaper and was able to diagnose my cat even before xrays! It's disappointing since they really do have a great facility.

Great facility and everyone (including Tara at the front desk) have been very kind and seem happy to answer all my questions - even before I had adopted my new cat. Not sure how the costs compare to other vets in Toronto. I chose this clinic because of its location and so far have been very impressed.
