I am fairly new to the area and had an emergency with my dog. She had been attacked by another dog and was cut up. The doctor saw my dog right away and rearranged her schedule to repair her wounds. The receptionist and technician showed compassion and concern for me and my dog. The fees were less than I expected for an emergency visit, and my dog healed quickly. I highly recommend this hospital!

I was a regular customer of this vet for years. Then I brought my seriously ill dog there. I knew he'd probably die and they hospitalized him. I could not get a return call to save my life to let me know my dog's condition. After a couple of days I took him home and had to bring him to another vet the same night to be euthanized. This vet could not believe how dehydrated my dog was. He was not taking anything by mouth and had received no IV fluids. At least he died in my arms, and not alone in a cage. Then a couple of yrs ago I had adopted an old dog from the Humane Society and he began having labored breathing and fell to the ground. We live close to the hosp and I called...practically begged to bring him in, but they said they were closing in 45min and told me to go to VETS emerg clinic at least 20min away. He died en route in my back seat. When I called GF vet to tell them, The assistant said condisendingly, "Okay, thanks. I'll pass that on." I'll NEVER use them again.

Not every vet clinic is perfect. This facility has a fine reputation among this community. They do care and that is important. Avoid another clinic in the Oakdale/Waterford area called VETS 24 hour emergency care..they have a horrible reputation, charge huge fees, and nobody does anything about them so they continue to operate. Avoid the VETS clinic at all costs, they are a scam,I know 10 people who paid huge sums of money and lost their animals life. Veterinarians in the area do not recommend their clients go there, what does that tell you?

Although I did like the staff here, I did not feel the level of concern was up to par. We switched vets because our puppy's itching/allergy problems did not seem to cause the Vet any concern, when it caused us a great deal of pain and worry to watch her suffer and scratch all day long. Every one was nice enough and the facilities were ok but for the amount of money we paid, we would have expected some results and there were none. She seemed to actually get worse. They need to trust a little more that PetParents know their babies and listen to them when they say something is wrong.

From the very first time I came here up until now, I have felt that the level of care, genuine concern by all the staff and doctors and prompt service has more than exceeded my expectations. Being "mom" to a very timid and feisty cat, Maya, and a very large somewhat imposing and stubborn American Bulldog, Bucko, I have had unpleasant experiences with other vets who were either condescending or seemed less than willing to accomodate us. The pros at Gales Ferry Vet hospital also showed my friend the same care and concern when we both took her dog, sick with cancer, there last week to be euthanized. A warm blanket, a box of tissues and alone-time was provided, and my friend was not the only one who shed tears. Kudos to this great group!

This is one of the most overpriced vets in the area. I've used them for years and they are not concerned about the animals, they are concerned about the all mighty dollar.
