I trusted my dog was in good hands with Dr. Vega at Bishop Ranch. He was aware of my dog’s history, but during an exploratory surgery, he decided to perform a corrective resection as there was scar tissue evident from before. Not only was I unprepared for a major surgery to occur, but was shocked that a specialist wasn’t given the chance to review his condition beforehand. After the surgery I was informed that my dog was left with very little of his intestinal tract and that the good news was that he had awoken from the anesthesia.
Within 24 hours, it was obvious that there were complications as my dog wasn’t eating, was shaking, and had a painful tummy. It was only after another 48 hours of suffering for both me and my dog that I had him released from Bishop’s care and rushed to UC Davis for an urgent visit, as he was obviously in critical condition. The surgery had leaked and my dog had become septic with tremendous amounts of inflammation resulting in the pain he was experiencing

They put my dog through two lab tests (the same test about two weeks apart) before they diagnosed her with kidney failure. But, by the time we received the results of the second lab test, she had already died. It took them more than a week to get the results back! Even though this happened a few years ago I just wanted to say my peace.

Cancer Misdiagnosed! My dog has cancer but was not properly diagnosed by Dr. Gilman and Bishop Ranch Center. Dr. Gilman was more concerned with putting a muzzle on my dog than on conducting a thorough examination. He did not fully disclose illnesses assocated with symptons concerned that the cost of diagnosis would upset me. He totally missed that her symptons and blood work results might be cancer. My dog was diagnosed approximately 4 weeks later at Bishop Ranch with the same informaiton Dr. Gilman had, within minutes the treating vet had narrowed the possible causes down to two possibilities, cancer was one of them. No muzzle was used the 2nd time. My dog has never bitten any person! It is my belief that radiation theraphy could have been avoided had we gotten her it earlier to the Oncologist. The failure to dianose timely cost us over 10,000.00 and unnecessary pain to my dog and family.
