My five year old golden retriever had a freak incident when he inhaled a foxtail that lodged between his lungs and attached to his heart. Tina Owen, the head of Orthopedic Surgery was beyond brilliant -- and her team was first rate -- Dr. Sady Cabrera was fantastic and the staff was wonderful. Drs. Owen and Cabrera were extremely attentive and responsive to me (I was in touch every day for weeks after the surgery and during the recovery). My dog subsequently had three surgeries to resolve a very difficult infection -- and Dr. Owen was on top of it every time. The last two surgeries were very delicate - required extreme focus and precision -- there is no question that she saved his life. I would recommend her and Dr. Cabrera to anyone at any time. In addition to being a superb doctor, she has recently started a charity called HoPe Veterinary Center, which offers free treatment to pets of the homeless. (PS: I am not related in any way nor have I been asked to write this review).

We were referred to this hospital for emergency surgergy on our pet after having xrays taken at another VCA (which clearly showed a sewing needle in my cat's stomach). Although they were informed in advance of our problem, they did not call the required specialist in while we were on the way over. After our arrival, they could not reach him by phone for approx 45 minutes. He then declined to come in. By the time regular hours came around it was too late for the surgery to be done. We were sent home with the cat 2 days later-- now with the needle partially through its colon. They mysteriously lost the original xray disc we came in with, and refused to take responsibility for replacing it. Overall we were charged just under $1000 by the two VCA branches and nothing was done save to periodically take x-rays while the needle worked its way from the stomach to the colon.

They gave my dog a chemo drug that should not have
been given to this breed of dog. A test should have been given to him first. Consequently he had a bad toxic reaction and did not respond to any
other drugs that were tried. They also denied that
the drug was responsible for his reaction. They
are not thorough or responsive to a pets needs.

I took by bunny to this clinic. She was prescribed an antibiotic, usually used for bunnies, but she developed severe diarrhea. Instead of taking her off the medication or suggesting some other remedy, they told me to just feed her hay. I brought her back into the clinic as she got weaker and she died there, probably starved to death. As my bunny lay dead on the table, the assistant asked if I wanted a paw print of my dear pet, of course for a fee. There were always lots of high fees. I tried another vet at this clinic when I purchased another rabbit. I took my newly purchased rabbit to this clinic for a check-up. The vet found the bunny had tumor-like growths all over her body. Because of the extent of the growths and the fact that rabbits do not do well with the trauma of surgery, the bunny should have been euthanized. There was no way all these tumors could be removed. Instead she had the surgery and died.

We saw Dr Bruyette, medical director of the facility, and internist, for our fifteen-year-old dog. While he was pretty knowledgeable, he prescribed a lot of expensive tests (ultrasound, x-rays etc) but could not pinpoint what was wrong with her - he did suggest exploratory surgery to "find out"... on a fifteen-year-old dog who could barely walk or stand, was thin as a rake and had not kept food down in five days! We really got the feeling he was pushing for expensive options without any regards for our pet's well-being, and that is not what we expect of a good vet. I am sure he is a good veterinarian, but he certainly was not in touch with our dog's needs or our concern for her quality of life. After two visits and an euthanasia, the bill was over $1500, and it did not help our dog a bit. The facilities are nice, the staff is friendly, and they offer a lot of prescription diets and meds, but it is very overpriced too. Would not recommend.
