He lies on reports to Emergancy hospitals. One of my cats had fluid around his heart. Emergancy hospital said cat cannot breath he need a X-ray and treatment, urgent. Example He just said he is fine and does not need a X-ray. Then sends report that I refused the X-ray. 2 other cats on death door as he does nothing but do tests and charges money. Now we find out he had so many complaints he was banned from working for a year in 2006 and had supervision and further training afterwards. Well it did no good he is still doing what he likes to do. I am going to make several more complaints now and hope he is suspended again.

Steven left my dog in agonazing pain to die! I just found out he plead gilty to many charges and had hes licence revoked for one year in 2005! I would like to see him working at mcdonals soon

I have been a client of this clinic since Dr. Toenjes came to Fort Erie. I and my animals have been treated with the utmost respect and care at all times. I just lost my Papillon last night and Dr.Toenjes was on the phone with me immediately, she died at home in my arms. I can't speak highly enough of Dr Toenjes and his staff.

the veterinary college of ontario have alot to answer to. the fact that they only suspended Dr. Steven Toenjes for 1year is mindblowing. see article link in previous review and STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLINC.

have been a client for 20 years have never had a problem if fact for 2 years in a row Dr Toenjes was in Toronto during the holidays I had an emergency he returned to the clinic to aid my pets ... where would you find a Dr to even care for your child like this ! The staff is very efficient and knowledgeable prompt they also have compassion for each and every one that has to have a pet put to sleep they truly are a wonderful clinic . I have recommended this clinic and will continue to do so . As far as their prices they are most reasonable If push came to shove the health of the animal is the priority not the $$$$ . One never feels like you are rushed out the door if one has question the dr. take the time to fully explain what can or can not be done and why ! GREAT GREAT Clinic 20 years of satisfaction ....

I recently looked into this veterinarian to take care of my animals. Before allowing any vet to handle my animals I always check into them. I found this article on Dr. Toenjes. This is the best place in Fort Erie! They are professional, friendly and reasonably priced. They have been in business for years and the owner is a pretty reasonable straight up guy. He's by ar fthe best in town and one with the best reputation. Would recommend them any day. Like the receptionist-- mature and knows what shes talking about. There's one doc in town who is a real quack and switches personalities really wierdly. We returned to Steve-- predictable, professional and reasonably priced. Dont't know why the SPCA doesn't promote this place. They should

We have used two other vets in our area and found that even though the prices seemed reasonable over the phone, those other vets always seemed to find other "important" costs to add to our bill. When we got our puppy we decided to try Fort Erie after reading up on the reviews. I will never use another vet again other than this clinic. The staff is fantastic. Friendly and caring. I never have to wait more than 5-10 minutes to get in. When I have questions they take the time to fully answer them for me, without making me feel like I'm taking up their time. They also have the best prices in the Niagara region. Whatever I'm quoted over the phone is exactly what I pay at the end of the visit. Awesome place to bring your animals!!

I have been coming here for my cats and dogs for years. Dr. Toenjes is our regular Vet, and he is absolutely amazing! For one, he is so caring-I love that he nuzzles my cats and coos at them and tells them how pretty they are:) He has come in at all hours for us, and once he even charged us regular rate instead of ER rate (which he so deserved since we interrupted his dinner at home) because it turned out to be a minor eye irritation..and his wife even stayed on the phone with me while he was on his way! You can tell he is looking out for your pet first-money last. I have so many good things to say, but theres a 1000 ch. limit, so I'll say this-you can tell he loves animals, he loves what he does, and he does it extremely well. His staff are excellent, and you gotta love Shannon the receptionist! Dr. T even pts a couple of my birds and pet rats (even tho that is not his practice) so i didnt have to go out of town for it. And was so compassionate when I cried like a baby. Best Vet!

Everyone at this office is so wonderful. The receptionist is a riot (she's funny, kind and all around great) the nurses are great with the animals and Toenjes is a dream. He's treated my cats and dog and I couldn't ask for a better vet.

I am looking for a new vet right now. I am not happy with what has happen with both my dog and cat. The one that handled my cat seemed like he had never held one in his life! I was worried he was going to break her leg or hip. He got my mom worried with all these things that could be wrong with her, things that made no sense. He poped something on the top of her head making an open wound and than looked at me when I asked him if he would bandage it up. He wraped her head and I ended up redoing the dressing because she couldn't beath the way he did it. He noted that normally the dressing would cost us but he was going to throw it in for free, but he said it with attiude. He seemed very clueless. With my dog they got all his filing messed up and gave him his shots 8 weeks early! Causeing him to have a reaction. The staff is nice, but the lady at the front desk seems to have attitude and talks about patients after they leave. NOT professional!

Dr Toenjes saved my dog's life twice by removing massive tumors. He is the most caring man. If you call with an emergency after surgery he will call you right back. After my dog had a stroke and did not recover I had to call him to put her out of her misery. He came to the comfort of our home. I cannot say enough about him. He is also very reasonably priced so even poor people can afford a pet which I think is his unspoken mission because he truly loves animals. I also love Shannon who works the front desk but is very knowledgeable about animals and very caring too. My beautiful dog is gone but if I got another I would definitely come back to this doctor and his clinic.

This clinic saved my dog's life. They accepted him after a poisoning when our regular vet (down the road) told us they were closing in 15 minutes and to take my dog to St catharines to the emerg clinic there. he never would have survived the trip. Dr. A and his team took us immediately over the phone, waited for us to arrive and stayed to treat our pup. They assisted us with charcoal treatments and Vitamin K shots for a period of 4-6 weeks. All told, they charged us about $400....this would have been THOUSANDS anywhere else. They did this because our dog was a new rescue from our local SPCA. They are fantastic. Full thumbs up!

I love this clinic. My parents were bringing our Shar-Pei here for years, and it was by far one of the most affordable in Niagara. I had been going to a clinic in Welland, and I had to get my dog's teeth cleaned and I was quoted at $518 for just the cleaning alone, not including extractions. When I took my dog to Fort Erie Animal Hospital I only had to pay $275 and that included 5 exstractions. The doctos and staff are so nice and caring. I had Dr. Al-Nazari (I think that's how it's spelled.) I'll make the long trip from Welland to go there from now on.

We have used these facilities for ten years now since moving from Toronto . The staff , especially the ,main Woman at the front desk is so proficient one is immediately put at ease and renewed in confidence of the entire practice with her knowledge ,Wonderful place for any animal lover to know their pets will be well looked after .

I have been going to this clinic for 4 yrs. Dr. Toenjes owns the clinic. I find he is quiet and can come off as uncaring. He usually has another apprentice, however, it seems they change every year or so -- Don't know if this is a good sign.
