Click to report rating    6/2/22   5     5     5     5   Excellent care even during Covid lockdowns and now that with more people are vaccinated like their pets we can finally go in and have a personal chat with Dr. Sarah and Dr. Stuart. RID: 70345
Click to report rating    5/7/20   3     3     1     2   I took my puppy here once and aside from collecting the remainder of his medication, I will NOT be going back. I was chastised by Dr. Stuart for feeding my dog QUALITY dried raw food. Instead was told to feed him IAMS?!! Which boggles my mind since IAMS is terrible for animals. Aside from his poor suggestions, he made me give my puppy another vaccination bc the one my breeder gave my pup was "not familiar" to him. Dr. Stuart was condescending, rude, and so was his receptionist. He doesn't want to work with you, he wants to tell you what to do so that he can profit. I am in utter disbelief that someone can speak to another adult like he spoke to me. If you want an open, compassionate, and honest vet, I would absolutely go somewhere else. RID: 69224
Click to report rating    4/19/18   1     3     3     1   I came here with my cat who was coughing, thinking there was something in his throat. Without looking at his throat or injured paw, the vet did routine checkups of mouth, temp and heart/breathing and based on something that happened told us that it couldn't be a hairball so it's most likely congestive heart failure or cancer. He told us to put our cat down. We took him home, the vet told us he wouldn't survive. Two days later, my cat coughed up a twig and now he's his happy, healthy, energetic self. It feels like this clinic was trying to get as much money as possible and had no evidence before making the prognosis. I almost lost my beloved cat to the vet's incompetence. RID: 65990

8/16/17   5     5     5     5   I always feel so reassured when I take my cat to Appleview. I love Sara who always explains everything that she is doing and why she is doing it. She takes the time to make sure the pet owner knows what is going on. Sara demonstrates real kindness and caring to the pet and the owner. She is very gentle with the pets and the owners feelings, making sure that nobody leaves anxious. RID: 64448
Click to report rating    7/25/17   5     5     5     5   I am just moving into the area so took my dog here today for the first time. I had such great experience!! The vet we saw (I think her name was Sara?) was amazing. She really seemed to know her stuff and while other vets have tried to push expensive remedies on us, she did no such thing and tried to minimize the cost by telling me that if I decided on certain things I could pick them up from the clinic without paying for another visit. I was very impressed with the prices too, it was much cheaper than our previous vet and I really feel like we got a more thorough check up. Very happy to have found our new vet! :) RID: 64268
Click to report rating    4/6/17   5     5     5     5   I have been taking my two dogs here for over 14 years, and the care has been above and beyond. Drs Stuart and Sarah give many options to illnesses, the first being conservative; never push for unnecessary treatment, tests, or surgery. They are very kind and compassionate to the pets and owners. The staff are equally as nice. I would not recommend seeing their locum vet when they are away. RID: 63263

8/21/13   5     4     5     5   Seeing these unkind remarks, i had to speak up. AAH is our family vet for over 12yr, 9 family members(17 pets) who completely trust ALL of the very qualified doctors. More than once these fine doctors have saved our babies. We have found them going above&beyond with care that provide, ei last minute appts, staying past regular hours, never rushed. Yes there had been a few times when we had to wait a little longer than appt time giving, but when you see a family leaving crying without their pet, time then means nothing, that could have been anyone of us. When it had been one of us, the compassion, caring, understanding & the time that ALL staff took with us work outstanding! I strongly question those remarks of 2nd opinions, our past experience the doctors encouraged to seek further help(else where) to get things figured out. Yes seeing a specialist does cost $ I think that's where those complaints are coming from. I wouldn't let my GP do a ACL on me, so why wouldn't I do same for my pet RID: 46434

6/20/13   5     5     5     5   I have been with Drs.' Woolard for 24 years I followed them from Hamilton to Oakville...the care they gave and continue giving to all my animals is #1. My dog gets excited when I tell her she is going to see Dr. Sarah...yet she digs her paws into the ground when going to a groomers! Dr, Sarah truly cares about my pets and my pocket book. She gives me her professional medical diagnoses/honest opinion with options. Highly recommended by my pets who know a good person when they meet one!! RID: 43227
6/8/13   2     2     2     1   MONEY PIT - DON'T CARE ABOUT ANIMALS APPLEVIEW may have been okay in the distant past but not today. Our pet was diagnosed by a 24-hour emergency clinic by X-Ray full of kidney stones. Foolishly, we took the X-Ray back to Appleview for treatment. They insisted on more unnecessary X-Rays @ $163.85, enough antibiotics to kill an elephant and wanted to refer us to a Mississauga Emergency Hospital that they had referred us to before where we had a bad experience. We asked to be referred to Guelph Vet but Sara (vet) said no one was available at Guelph during summer months and made every effort to discourage us. After finding another vet hospital and numerous requests, they reluctantly transferred our file but held back the 2nd set of X-Rays they charged us for. In the end, we paid for X-Rays at (3) locations. Appleview has refused to re-imburse us for the X-Rays they did not transfer. Before deciding on Appleview, suggest you check out all the negative comments on this website. RID: 43017
2/21/13   5     5     5     5   I have been going to Dr. Stu and Sara since they took over the pratice more then 15 yrs ago. They have been nothing but wonderful to all my pets and to myself and my husband! Both vets have always been so friendly and gentle with all my cats and dogs, the doors are always open to the back, nothing is hidden from sight. I have been invited to come and visit with my animals when they needed to stay for a few days anytime of the day that suited me. I have recommneded them to numerous friends and family, as everyone there is always so upbeat and friendly and they all give my pets such attention and treats, they are always happy to be there! I have been so shocked at the complaints of some people about these vets, in all these yrs I have NEVER had one unpleasant visit,or seen any of the girls being rude, everywhere you go there is always a wait time, but I am fine with that because when I am with Dr.Stu or Sara I feel they give me all the time my pet needs! They will always be my vets!! RID: 40607
Click to report rating    1/28/13   4     5     4     5   I have taken both of my cats to Appleview for the past 6+yrs (my sister took her cat there as well) and have always had a good experience. All of the staff are always very helpful, especially when I was dealing with 'behaviourial' issues. Dr. Stuart is great with my cats, and is always mindful of both my cats' health and my out-of-pocket costs. A few years ago, one of my cats swallowed something that she shouldnt have, and rather than putting her through invasive surgery, Stuart recommended another clinic (referrals) that was able to remove the item without doing the invasive surgery at all, which meant no downtime for kitty ! Stuart and Sarah are always fantastic ! There is a fairly new vet that recently joined the hospital, that I would prefer not to deal with however .. although very nice, she doesnt seem to know her stuff, and is so cautious at making a diagnosis, it ends up costing more and more money and stressful cat visits to the vet ... RID: 39977
Click to report rating    11/6/12   4     5     3     4   I have been bringing my cats and dog to this vet clinic for many years now. My dog loves going there because he likes the treats from the staff and the attention he gets. I have no complaints other than sometimes you wait a bit once you get there. I find them very compassionate and never have pushed any procedure on me. I moved to another city 3 years ago but continue to bring my pets here. RID: 38321
10/11/12   1     2     1     2   I would’ve never taken my cats to Appleview if I had checked this site 2 years ago… Their staff members are rude, Stuart talks in circles and was never able diagnose the real problem that one of my cats has. I’ve spent a lot of money with blood tests/antibiotics and after finding out that she’s allergic to penicillin (+26 other things), at one point we were back due to a bladder infection and Sarah prescribed her a penicillin based antibiotic (which I quickly searched online using my phone). When I questioned her and refused it based on my findings she said she couldn’t be held accountable for using another antibiotic. So… they both (Stuart & Sarah) prescribed an antibiotic that can make my cat blind instead! What is this place? Bladder infection apart, my cat still has the same issue as 1.5 years ago! I decided to go for another opinion but I’m unable to get a copy of their files. I DO NOT recommend this clinic to anyone and don’t even feel bad about their incompetence. RID: 37757
8/31/12   3     3     2     3   When my pet was under the care of Stuart and Sarah, things were okay. When they brought in the young female vet who lacks any ability to diagnose, doesn't seem to care, and makes you wonder what she'd rather be doing, things went downhill. After one strange diagnosis (which was incorrect) we went to another vet for a second opinion. When I returned to buy dogfood, I was told by the less than pleaant receptionist that my pet was no longer a patient. Once you go for a second opinion, you're not welcome back. Wow. As i see from the other comments listed on this site, this is really working for them!!! RID: 36923
Click to report rating    6/21/12   5     5     5     5   great experience, clean, friendly, nice staff, cute bird RID: 35121
Click to report rating    10/13/11   1     3     3     3   Like others here, we've been dropped from Appleview for taking our pet to another vet for a second opinion. This makes no sense. We didn't want to change vets, but they made that decision for us. What's more important here, our pet's health or the vet's pride? RID: 28276
9/5/11   1     4     5     2   Below average care. Office staff quite rude. They threaten to not take you back ever if you see another vet. Getting my records sent to another vet was an ordeal; they kept "forgetting" to fax. Prices are high, and they give antibiotics for EVERYTHING, so as to increase sales. They do Not care about your animal, only your wallet. Strongly discourage anyone from taking their loved Pet here - there are much better in Burlington. RID: 27390
Click to report rating    8/15/11   2     2     1     3   I had two pets at this clinic for over ten years...I moved out of the city when my current dog was about a year old, I have just moved back and my dog need attention...they turned him away because he'd been to another vet...I really though very highly of BOTH Stuart and Sarah...but now realize that their practice is NOT about animal health but about their pride...very sad. RID: 26933
Click to report rating    6/7/11   1     1     1     1   I had been going here for over 10 yrs & just because I wanted a 2nd opinion, I was told I would no longer be able to be a client here. It is supposed to be about the animal, not the bottom dollar. RID: 25452
Click to report rating    3/16/11   1     2     1     2   I've been taking my dog to Appleview for a few years now, despite them consistently being at minimum a half hour behind schedule. My dog was prescribed metacam by them for her arthritis in December. We were instructed to keep her on it indefinitely. My dog then suffered a torn CCL which we were told Appleview does not repair. We asked if they were affiliated with any surgeon and they said no, that we could try Mississauga, Guelph, or Toronto but that they did not recommend any particular hospital. At the recommendation of a friend who judges dog shows, we went to another vet for the surgery. When I went to Appleview pick up a refill of Metacam 2 months later, they were angry that I took my dog to a vet other than Mississauga and refused to refill my dog's medication despite being faxed a permission form from the other vet indicating that it was okay to do so. They told me I would have to go to the other vet to get the medicine that Appleview had prescribed in the first place. RID: 23609
Click to report rating    6/8/10   4     4     5     4   Very informative and helpful. Price is reasonable after all they are professional and very highly educated. I will continue to use the services of the wonderful veternarian! RID: 18305
Click to report rating    3/28/10   1     2     2     1   My dog would have died if I left him under Stuart's care and didn't get a second opinion. I just knew Stuart was wrong. After going to another vet I found out Stuart completely misread a blood workup (that I had Stuart's office fax to my new vet). Stuart is fine if you just want the run-of-the-mill shots -but if your pet gets sick - go somewhere else - he can't diagnose - I did and enjoyed many more years with my dog. RID: 17267
Click to report rating    2/14/09   5     5     5     5   WE always received the very best care in the 7 years we took our dog to these people. My next dog will also be a patient of theirs as well. RID: 11622
Click to report rating    6/17/08   1     1     1     4   VERY UNHAPPY!! We decided not to do a fecal sample that we were charged for, so we returned the container. They said they gave us a credit for it and they never did. Now they say a year later that they will not give us anything because its past a year. RID: 8934
Click to report rating    2/11/08   5     5     5     5   Excellent care for our senior dog and compassionate when the our dog's time came to an end. I would never consider taking a pet to anyone else. RID: 7264
