I have been bringing my pets here for years and I am very happy with the vets and care my pets receive. No, it is not a spa or Golden Hospital; they will take care of your animals well without the expensive unnecessary frills. It is a good, solid animal hospital. I feel very comfortable there. Oh, and if your pet is nervous in the (small) waiting room, you can leave them in the car or with someone outside, and just bring them in when they are called. So easy. People do that all the time here; I had to with one of my dogs. RID: 65834
Click to report rating    11/16/15   1     1     1     1   Was quoted a price for my dogs dental cleaning. When I went to pick my dog up the price was way over what they quoted, 250.00-500.00 max! The vet/owner started screaming at me that No one here gives quotes. I advised that is why I brought my dog back there, he got in my face and started screaming at me, basically calling me a liar, that I was never quoted anything. Stood even closer to my face and said, Fine pay the 500.00, take your dog and go elsewhere.. I have never had a "professional" treat me with such disrespect. And had no care in the world about my dog. So, if anything goes wrong, oh well. He is an ignorant man and I am reporting him to the board! And the BBB. All about ripping peoplenoff, does not give a crap about your animal. The Receptionist also started screaming and called me a liar RID: 58988
Click to report rating    12/17/12   5     5     5     5   I disagree with the few bad reviews I see here. My young large breed dog is home recovering from a second acl surgery and with the complexity of the surgery and the whole process of caring for the follow up care the staff including Dr. Schnabel and the vet techs have well prepared me for the long haul. If any staff seems standoffish or rough around the edges we need to remember they too are under stress and busy and sometimes it comes across in my opinion as though they are acting more business like one day and another day you can find them more sociable and talkative. When they have a waiting room full of pets waiting to be seen, as a pet owner we need to remember that under similar circumstances if we were in a customer service position or caregiver position we might be stressed and hurried to get to everyone as timely as possible. They are great at what they do. My dog has never gotten infection after any of his surgeries and I have been going there for over 20 years. RID: 39101

Click to report rating    1/25/12   5     5     5     5   I started going to Weedsport Animal Hospital a year ago. Unfortunately my last trip there was an emergency with my 18 year old cat, Zoey. Everyone was so caring and considerate when during my entire visit. Unfortunately, Zoey passed away. However, I could not ask for more immediate, better attention. They were amazing!!!! I have used many other vets but have never gone to a vet office that is as wonderful as this one! I highly recommend them! They are the BEST! RID: 31784
Click to report rating    3/10/11   5     5     5     5   I have gone to Weedsport Animal Hospital ever since I moved to NY in 2000. Dr. Schnabel has always taken great care of my Dogs. Amazingly, when I moved away for two years and one of my Dogs had seizure issues, Dr. Schnabel was gracious enough to explain what the course of treatment should be, what to expect etc. When I offered to pay for the consult, he declined since he loves all the animals he treats! I highly recommend him and it will be a said day if and when he retires. Thanks Dr. Schnabel and staff!!! RID: 23444
Click to report rating    12/1/10   5     5     5     5   Doc and his staff are wonderful. They took wonderful care of a bulldog we adopted that had heartworm (just to mention 1 of the problems she had) and didn't complain once no matter how many times we called him or brought her in. She is better now and has finally had her first heat at the age of 4 years. We are looking to breed her next heat. In October,2010 we had allowed my Taz to cross the rainbow bridge and finally go home. We could tell Doc felt as bad about it as we did. He was tender and caring and allowed us to stay right with her. You could tell by his actions and the way he was that it bothered him for sure. He nor his staff rushed us out when all was done but let us stay there as long as we felt need to. The staff and Doc ask about our "kids" (by their names) that are left at home whenever we bring 1 in for a visit. He and the staff are tops and as long as he is in business I feel safe in saying we will be going there. Thanks Doc. RID: 21183
Click to report rating    5/4/10   5     4     3     4   I have been going here for years and although I did have one experience where I felt Doc was alittle gruff with my pet (he was being scratched like crazy)overall I would say they are extremely caring and very competent. I have been going there for at least 25 years and although I sometimes spent quite a bit of money, you will not find anyone including staff who care as much about animals as they do. They feel our pain as we watch our beloved pets go through all they do. Don't judge a whole practice based on one experience. Doc has stood and cried with us - how more compassionate can you get? Click to report rating    4/19/10   5     5     5     5   Dr. Schnabel is the best I have ever been to. His rates are amazing and he has taken great care of my 4 pets for the last 5 years. He even started to cry when I wanted to put one down...the animal lived amazingly and is still with us. He also did jaw surgery on my dog that the emergency vet in Ocean City wouldn't touch and it cost me less for the surgery than the xrays in OC. Couldn't ask for a better guy! RID: 17598
Click to report rating    2/18/09   1     1     3     4   I would feel more comfortable going there if he had a calm and low key bedside manner. My experience with him is that he has been kind of "rough around the edges" with his bedside manner. That concerns me because if I don't feel comfortable with my pet's caretaker, I can't feel comfortable entrusting them to him. Even though his prices are reasonable. I am sure he was not aware of it, but last time I was there he very displeased that my dog had seen other vets since seeing him last. I don't think he is aware of it, but the way he conveyed it to me was kind of intimidating. He is tall and I am short and felt like he was towering over me expressing his displeasure. I like his prices but he makes me nervous. I wish it wasn't like that either because as I said, his prices are OK. I was once prescribed something I didn't use as it wasn't necessary. Some ointment. The problem cleared up without it. So it was money down the drain. RID: 11673
Click to report rating    1/5/07   1     2     3     1   This vet and his staff does not listen to what is going on with ones pet. I took my toy poodle to him because he was not feeling well and was constipated. I treated my dog for the constipation with mineral oil. So his stool was very loose. It was starting to firm up by the time I took him in. I took two stool samples in for testing. Before the testing was completed the vet wanted to give antibiotics and something to firm the stool up. Why would one want to make the dog constipated again?? I asked why he wanted to treat for loose stools when my dog was constipated and the mineral oil was doing its job? I asked why he would want to give antibiotics before he even knew if there was a need for it? He had a problem with me questioning him. Once the test were finished there was no need for antibiotics. The results were given before I left the office. He did not treat my little dog very kindly. His exam was less than thorough. He sells drugs to every pet owner that comes in!!! RID: 1804
Click to report rating    10/31/06   5     5     4     5   Dr. Schnabel is awesome and his rates are even better. His staff is very caring and knows every dog/cat by name! I highly recommend Dr. S. RID: 368
