Some people have had good experiences with this clinic. I have not. When I brought my rainbow lory in on July 21, 2014 due to vomiting, blood was taken from his claw and we were told his WBC was double what it should be. Bacterial infection. They kept him at the clinic. Besides a blood test and X-ray no other tests were given. No gram stain, no crop check no choaca check. He was treated but the bacteria he had was unknown. No test given for that. Fast forward 6 days later he was dead. Necropsy showed swollen liver, and congested kidneys. Even after death the bacteria was unknown until my husband said he wanted a liver culture done. Only then did we find out that he had a klebsiella infection. After 3 months I finally requested the necropsy report but to this day have not received X-ray results or any DETAILED info as to how this could have happened. 4 normal liver tests yet he died of a liver infection. It doesn't add up. Very limited testing in my opinion. More should have b

Dr. Sam Backos is very knowledgeable and saved my bird's life when he was nearly dead from an accidental overdose of medication at home. He and his staff watched my birdie and did IVs, oxygen, and much observation in an incubator. I even contacted vets around the country when he first was admitted to the clinic. But Dr. Sam Backso and his staff nursed birdie back to health.

As other reviewer stated, clips nails for blood sample and other avian vets have explained that this is VERY painful for birds and to run the other way if your vet does this. A qualified avian vet will be able to draw blood quickly from a vein and not add to their stress. A vet is supposed to facilitate healing, not cause unneeded stress.
