I brought my cat to the High Springs animal hospital lfor a minor procedure. Less than one hr later i get a call from Dr Cohen that he passed away. The lack of empathy in her voice and no real explanation other than i think he had a heart attack didn't help me understand. I felt she accepted what had happened and it was not from anything she might have done wrong. I am questioning her experience with older cats. I have sinced researched what the proper procedures would have been in this situation and could see she either was unknowledgable or in a hurry. Either way, she did not follow correct procedure/nor wait the certain amount of time required before administering the specific drug.I believe he'd be alive today had she not rushed and had given my cat the appropriate thought that he deserved. I think her licence should be suspended for such a big mistake. A mistake that cost my cat his life.

Dr. Cowen is an excellent, thorough, and experienced small town vet who truly cares for all animals and sincerely attempts to enable pet and large animal owners to give the best care possible to their animals. She is gentle and emphatic and uses the lest invasive and traumatic procedures necessary to accomplish the task at hand. Most of my animals have actually enjoyed routine office visits to her. This is a VERY sharp contrast to one other vet I had and I will never again take it for granted! I no longer live in High Springs, but I think fondly the nearly 30 year history I have with HSAH and wouldn't hesitate to call on them again if I need a DVM when in town visiting!

New to area and after researching info on the facility, I trusted my beloved cat to their care. Staff was friendly enough but doctors lacked all social skills. Against my better judgement - I thought continuity of care important, My cat died while undergoing a minor procedure. The Vets explanation contradicted the pathology report which stated our cat was healthy and based on tissue samples the etiology was unknown. To this day, we can only speculate as to what happened. The facilities lack of responsibility and compassion has left me absolutely disgusted. If you value your pet as part of the family, I would NOT bring them to High Springs!
