Click to report rating    7/26/11   5     4     4     4   After reading some of the reviews posted, I had to add my experience as well... Just as other reviews have indicated, ARAH (Alton Road Animal Hospital) is expensive. There is no doubt about it. For me it has always been money well spent. My dog Mimi has been coming to ARAH since I got her in 2004. Personally my preference is to see Dr. Foster or Dr. Benedini because I find them to be very caring towards Mimi and sensitive to my economic situation. It appears that angry customers are more likely to post reviews so until you see at least 10 reviews on any of these sites, vew the overall rating with skepticism. I don't doubt that these folks has bad experiences but I do doubt that they are the norm. RID: 26484
Click to report rating    4/24/11   1     1     1     1   I would give negative stars if possible. never ever take your pet here. I took my dog in to remove a bone from her intestine. I was assured the surgery went well and that she was fine. When I visited and noticed that she had vomited I was told it was due to the drugs they had just given her. When I noticed she was not herself; I was told it was due to the drugs. The vet, Barr, released her to me after 2 days; said the lack of eating was probably because she was finicky. Within 6 hours she was dead, and I fully blame this place's lack of care and/or incompetence for her death. They let her sit in a cage for 2 days suffering and dying while they did nothing but run up my bill. RID: 24598
Click to report rating    2/28/11   1     2     1     1   Just picked up my miniature dachshund after four days of boarding and was told there's a mandatory charge of $29 and change for a bath they must give the dog BEFORE I TAKE HIM HOME! That's right. An absolutely unneeded service. When asked why the mandatory bath, the office manager, Leila McIntosh, explained that customers complain when their dogs go home dirty. Obvious solution: Make a bath a customer option. Her answer: That's not our policy (sounds like the US Postal Service, right?) It takes me five minutes and less than a gallon of water to wash my dog. This is clearly an attempt to rip off their customers. Avoid, avoid, avoid. If they would do this sort of thing for a buck, who knows what they would stint on when it comes to your pet's care.
