Dr. Coleman involves pet owner in decisions: for example check antibody titer vs. re-vaccinate. He has recommended "wait and see", but offered to run a test if I was very concerned. He lets me know the costs of treatment/tests ahead of time, and the likelihood of various outcomes. He has referred my pet to a specialist for a difficult chronic condition, rather than continue to treat unsuccessfully. His charges are less than other vets in the locality and I have had other vets in the area plan to run expensive tests on an old frail pet when the results would not change the treatment. Dr. Coleman's manner is frank and down-to-earth, which I prefer. Yes, his meds are expensive, but he has to carry the inventory. Ask if it's a "people" drug that you can get from a pharmacist. Vet charges are heavily dependent on the locality; if you are very cost conscious, consider driving to PA where you'll pay a lot less. In this area, I think Dr. Coleman is tops.

Front office is always nice, but vet who owns the facility is glib and boorish. Not sure, though, that makes a badly skilled vet. However, the prices are unbelievably high. He charged me $80 for three doses of Panacur granules. I checked the cost at another local vet for the same meds, and Murray Hill Vet Clinic charges $27 for the exact same stuff. When I called to complain and return the meds, his receptionist (not he) called me back, refused the return and said "John said that's what we charge."
