This vet is not transparent about which services they will provide and the cost. I took my kitten here for his second vaccination and when I made the original call I was not told about a specific service I would receive that would cost me $85.00, honestly had I known about the service beforehand I would have been fine, but since they did not have my consent to the service and fee I am pretty disappointed in the lack of communication from this vet. I have no choice but to go to a vet that is 100% transparent about services that will be rendered and there following costs. It’s very unfortunate because I live across the street and this could have been a lifetime vet for my animals. I was recommended this vet by a family friend but I will have to go elsewhere, and unfortunate as it is I will also have to tell others to steer clear of them aswell.

I was in need of a certificate of health for a 10 week old boxer I had just purchased from a breeder in the USA. the vet I had an appointment with bailed at the last moment and I was flying to Mexico the next morning. The staff at Allondale agreed to see him and I was able to get the much needed document. They didn't gouge me, in fact, the charge was minimal.

I worked here several years ago, and if the day hadn't been busy, Dr. O'Grady would add a few xrays or labs on to a bill to make money. He also is a completely different person behind the scenes, swearing and the worst temper. The "boarding" for dogs is a joke, basically a dark cell and the dogs get out twice a day for a pee. Don't go here...

There is not a rating score that's high enough for this clinic or enough accolades to use! Allondale is up to date with all medical processes, Dr O'Grady respects and appreciates all of his furry patients, showing concern, empathy and bang on medical judgement. The front line staff are always helpful and friendly and always with a smile! The multitude of thank you cards show appreciation from their many clients. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you Allondale!

I took my pets here for years until recently. They have received thousands of dollars from me over the years for surgeries. while they did provide great care they pumped up the bill and added things that I found to be outrageous. about a month or so ago I took my dog in for an xray. I asked specifically for an xray because I wanted confirmation that he hadn't ingested something and created a blockage. If I wasn't specific I knew my bill would be huge. The xray came back and there was no blockage. Dr Ogrady asked me to come back in a hour as he would like to run a barium and take two more xrays just to be sure that nothing had moved into his intestines. when I came back an hour later he said his intestines were clear. he then suggested I do a panel of blood tests. At which point I asked how much blood tests were and he said" let me check your balance". they charged me for the barium, addt'l xrays, 1/2 day hospital stay???a myriad of meds. Never going back! money grab!

I wouldn't trust my pets to anyone else than Dr. O'grady. He has personally saved many of my pets.Sure there are the cheap clinics out there. But I wouldn't trust them personally. They are cheap for a reason and its not a good reason most likely. I certainly wouldn't shop around with doctors if my child was sick. So why would I do that to my own pets? A real pet owner will do whatever it takes to ensure their pet has the best care and not a discounted care. The Allondale animal hospital has been around since 1964. If they were a crappy hospital they would have been long gone. They do excellent work, have long term staff (some that have been there 20 + years), they pay their staff better to ensure that YOU the customer get the knowledge and the best staff your pets so richly deserves. I give AAH an AAA + :)

I've been taking my pets there for years. We had our elderly cat put down in January and Dr O'Grady and staff were unbelievably caring. They're now taking care of my Welsh Corgi and are always good with her, even though she's always nervous. Dr. O'Grady is always clear with what he thinks the problem is and answers all questions professionally.

Immediately saw our dog when brought in by my grand-daughter - the dog wasn't breathing. All staff were wonderful, thorough and made sure we knew all options. When I told them I couldn't pay that day, they said no problem - "bring it in when you can". Never encountered a clinic like that.

My first issue was with Dr. O’Grady’s hasty recommendation of expensive & risky removal of all my dogs mammary glands after finding a lump. Alarmed upon my next visit I requested their other vet at the time, Dr. Atwood, & after doing a simple biopsy she said it was a very common benign cyst found in elderly dogs. 8 years later she’s had no cancers.Next was her congestive heart at age 16. Dr. O’Grady discussed a myriad of meds & tests but again not wanting to risk any unnecessary treatments I requested the basics and see how she progresses, 2 years later she is doing fine. Next a sudden problem with her hind legs and a diagnosis of degenerative condition requiring meds for the rest of her life. I opted for a short 3 day treatment of anti-inflammatories then assess. 4 days later she was back to #1. Last straw was a refusal to renew basic diuretic prescription without another full exam though her condition hadn’t changed. Old and dated facility that’s headed by a profit driven vet.

Dr. O'Grady and his staff have provided knowledgeable and compassionate care for our family pets for over 20 years now. Even though we have moved quite a distance away, we keep coming back because none of the vets we've tried hold a candle to the folks at Allondale.

I've always taken my pets to Allondale - initially because they're near my home, but I continued because I trust their pet care and they do the best for my pets. I also worked their part-time for a number of years and never felt they overcharged. I do understand the complaints about cost, but ultimately a Vet Clinic is a business...if cost pet owners what human healthcare costs, no one would ever have pets. And when I witnessed people bring in their pet after it swallowed a package of birth control pills or was hit by a car and then they complain about the resulting bill...well, who's responsibility was it to care for the animal?? If it was your child that was hit by a car or swallowed a package of pills - who would be responsible for that? People need to take more responsibility for their pets and the cost of their care; Allondale does the most they can to heal our sick animals and they shouldn't be expected to carry the cost. Thanks Allondale, Dr. O'Grady, and all the staff!

We've been going to Allondale for decades with all of our differnt animals over the years. Of couse there will always be someone who can do it for the wal mart price, but i prefer to receive the care they offer and pay a fair price for their services, our animals are part of our family, I would not risk them to a sub par vet who can only attract clients by undercutting

When I took my three cats to be fixed, I was panicking. I'd heard the horror stories of pets who'd had complications and didn't make the surgery. When I went to Allondale the staff were very understanding and gave me some info on what the stats were really like for Cat deaths when getting fixed. Still, however, disaster struck on operation day. One of my girls had an allergic reaction to the medication and went blue. We got a call to come to the Vet and O'Grady spent over an hour with my spouse and I in the room doing his damnedest to revive her, but couldn't. We decided that she was gone. To ensure that it wouldn't happen to either of our other cats, he did an autopsy, and allergy tests. He even had our kitty cremated and placed in a beautiful little urn. We didn't get a bill for anything, not the autopsy, allergy tests, spaying for our other two cats medications. Since then, we've found that AAH typically goes above and beyond to take care of families and pets. Thank you Allondale.

Been going to Patrick since before i could speak. Not the absolute cheapest, but cut costs alot for us, and took exceptional care of our pets, and continues to do so. Staff sent us sympathy cards when they heard our cat, and latter our dog had to be put down at emergency clinics due to sudden reasons. Our pets love the nurses, especially when we board them there for next to nothing.

We used Dr O'grady a few years ago with our Rotti. For $1200 he diagnosed her with Addison's.He could not give us info as to what her life expectancy would be.He told us her shots were needs every 30-33 days and she would die if we didn't.We went faithfully every month ($130)for a year and when we questioned if she needed it as she was all spry prior to each injection he stopped mid air with the needle as if "are you going to pay".We also realized we were sharing the med cost with other clients and when one passed and no longer needed the meds our costs went up.We decide to re-diagnose her through another vet and found we were overdosing her with fludrocortisone.O'grady said the meds were NOT available in pill form. Our new vet ordered them from Ontario and the cost was $180 for 3 month supply. She lived till 9.5 yrs old and we lost her in Oct.We never went back and they didn't care.I would NOT recommend this clinic as their cost are OUTRAGOUS!!!!

My family has known the O'Gradys for as long as I can remember, which is why I chose to take my cat, Billy, to see Pat when he returned home with an open wound on his hind leg, even though I live in Maple Ridge. Pat was reassuring and helpful in explaining probable causes and outcomes of my cat's condition, where the emergency hospital I initially took him to (Billy showed up at midnight and no one else was open) made me panic, think and expect the worst, and wanted to charge me an arm, a leg and my future firstborn child.
Pat showed me how to administer Billy's medication, and gave me a guarantee that he would be fully healed by the end of week. Needless to say, Pat was right, and his bedside manner with Billy was fantastic, Billy couldn't stop purring!

I have been bringing my pets to see Dr. O'grady for the last 25yrs. He is extremely knowledgeable, empathetic, and frankly honest when it comes to the care that your pet needs. All vets are expensive, but if you have pets, you should either have insurance, or save for emergencies! Pets need quality care, and if you cannot afford it, you cannot afford to have a pet.

every time i got a big story from them as to support why there wanting a big dollar price. i got the impression that there professional con artists. i got the service either shots or treatment way cheaper by goin any other place and i always call every vet i can and shop around and everytime allondale was the most expensive by a huge amount. when i would advise allondale what the competition charges they would get seriously rude and usually hang up within a few words. very rude and unprofessional, tells me money is all they care about. if you got deep pockets then go ahead and burn your cash there. if you want to get your moneys worth then dont go there.

Dr. O'Grady is the best! He will diagnose a problem that noone else would come up with or figure out. The price is high, but its worth the professional treatment and care you receive. They do offer multiple dog discounts for family, so that helps abit. The place is clean. They have more vets there who are good as well, but I prefer 0'Grady just cause i've been going there for so long. If its a 'sad time' for my pet, a time to go..they will book me in close to after hours to deal with them in private, and they are never in a hurry to kick me out cause its 'closing time'. I've had to put a few animals down, and they are very compassionate. But, I do think vets should keep an ample supply of 2-ply tissues in the office (large), instead of the small 1-ply's which, lets be honest, we could go through the entire box in that one appointment. Kudos to Allondale! Anymore positive or negative feedbacks on this vet?
