Click to report rating    5/2/21   3     2     3     1   I bought my dog here years ago for his heart. The dr told me he had at least two years to live. Soon after that visit I ended back there again, he was bleeding every time he urinated.. I was really upset and asked the dr if he thought it was cancer He flung open the door and shouted Nurse get me my crystal ball. I should of walked out. He then said he needed a minor operation to stop the bleeding. I told him I was leary because of his heart murmur and his response was he’ll be fine. I should of listened to my regular vet. He said not to do it. Well these are the specialists so I believed ithem. He died two weeks later after the operation I will NEVER EVER go this place again RID: 69943
Click to report rating    5/3/18   5     5     5     5   We took our rescue pittie Mimi to VSEC for surgery on her knee ligaments. Everyone on the staff was very caring and professional. Dr. Jennifer MacLeod explained everything to us in detail and made sure my wife and I understood all the options. We are so happy with the results, Mimi is on a slow road to full recovery. VSEC will always be my first recommendation to anyone who has a pet needing emergency or specialized treatment. RID: 66071
Click to report rating    7/9/17   1     1     1     1   Initially misdiagnosed our dog, and then refused to refund any of the charges that were a direct result of the misdiagnosis. Sickening, this place should be ashamed. Save yourself and your pet, go elsewhere. RID: 64130
Click to report rating    5/6/15   5     5     5     5   My normal vet reccomended vsec (Dr. Chapman). They were my last resort before euthing. Dr. Chapman squeezed me in on his lunch hour. He successfully diagnosed my dog and I started treatment asap. I absolutely loved vsec and the entire staff. Especially Dr. Chapman! I would sent anyone there with a difficult case with there pet. Click to report rating    3/12/15   1     3     2     1   I can't in good conscience recommend VSEC to anyone. VSEC's official policy is if they make a mistake, it is TOTALLY NORMAL, and you are going to eat the bill because that's the cost of doing business. Their ultrasound technician incorrectly diagnosed my cat with a blockage, the vets told me my cat needed emergency $3,500 open-abdominal surgery or he would die, and when it turned out my cat was 100% fine and nothing was wrong they wouldn't even give me an apology--much less a refund or partial refund. They told me my cat would die without immediate surgery and then shrugged their shoulders and said "That sometimes happens" when it turned out they made a mistake. Unconscionable. RID: 56249
Click to report rating    11/12/14   1     4     4     1   Service at front desk and over the telephone is very short and rude. The staff talks down to you from moment of entry until you pay. We did not have a successful outcome from a procedure and were charged maximum price anyway. It taught us to be very cautious with what we agree to have done because what we did have done, did not benefit our pet as it was not successful and it was not cheap. Veterinary care is expensive and as a pet owner you hope for quality and it is disheartening when they are not able to do what you paid for. Had they absorbed some of the cost and not charged maximum price, we would feel much different. RID: 54583
Click to report rating    11/2/13   2     5     2     1   I was referred to Dr Bossbaly, a Veternarian Cardiologist (and one of the primary owners) at VSEC because she was recommended by my pup's primary Veterinarian Dr. Cohen. I brought my little 4.6 lbs rescue dog to VSEC because this Center was highly recommended. My little guy was diagnosed with a heart murmur by Dr. Cohen's group and I wanted to have a full evaluation of my little Angel. Well, post-procedure for a Cardiac ECHO my dog, Thaddeus, has been limping for approximately 2 months due to an arterial and IV puncture from VSEC Levittown. This is after a distressing 2.5 hour evaluation that I was never involved with nor ever invited to participate in. Oh, and after the 2.5hr evaluation, my little guy's Cardiac ECHO cost me $965. I want you understand that I'm a Nurse Anesthetist who specializes in Cardiac abnormalities and my partner is a Pediatric Hematologist so medical treatments are understood and expected. Please also understand that all post procedural telephone conversati RID: 48028
Click to report rating    10/13/13   1     4     2     2   I was very upset by how rude and unconcerned the front desk was upon our arrival. My dog was hurt and in obvious pain. There was NO urgency for the situation. After a 600 bill and no real explanation for my dogs injury; I will never go back. RID: 47609
Click to report rating    12/8/12   5     5     5     5   Recently our beloved pit bull baby came down with anemia that was not responding to conventional treatments for the disease. She was extremely critical when we arrived. Dr. Pactinger aggressively researched and found the cause, a rare parasitic infection caused by a tick bite. I had my doubts about my best buddy's survival. Drs. Chapman,Klag, Tseng, and the nurses , techs , and front desk people worked together to bring her back from the brink of death. They are an outstanding , professional and compassionate team of animal lovers. I will be forever grateful to the for saving my friend. As I type this she blissfully snoring next to me on the couch. She's one happy pooch. Again, thank you for all you did RID: 38942
Click to report rating    5/30/12   1     3     1     1   dont take your pet here unless you have lots of money because that is all they care about. we took our beloved cat here after returning from vacation to find her limping and our regular vet referred us to them because they were the closest and our pet was really bad off. They gave her a transfusion after our agreeing to pay a couple of hundred of dollars and told us if we agreed to pay $1900 right then and there they would give her meds, do testing and an ultrasound to see what was wrong with her during the night. I got a call an hour after we got home that she needed another transfusion so they could do the ultrasound to which we agreed. We heard nothing until the next morning when again we received a call requesting permission for anotheer transfusion because she was too weak for the ultrasound (which we thought was already done and she was doing better since we did not hear anything for 9 hours). The ultrasound showed bleeding from a burst tumor. By the time they made their diagnosi RID: 34631
Click to report rating    4/2/12   5     5     5     5   I have ysed VSEC on occasions when my regular vet couldn't help. The staff is always kind, caring & professional. If Dr. Klag could treat humans he would be my Doc. in 2008 I lost a dog to cancer. we were told that the dog had about 9 months to live. Dr Klag gave us over 2 yrs of fun & love with our dog. When the time came and he ahd to be put down the entire staff gave my wife & I all the compassion that we needed. Now we have an adopted little guy who has some gastro issues. Since being treated at VVSEC he is running and playing with our 2 younger dogs. I wish that there was a way that the staff at VSEC could teach the people at human heath facilities how to treat people. VSEC is a 1st Class Operation and I would not hesitate to bring my pets back to this facility as well as recommend the facility to my family and friends that have pets. RID: 33296

9/8/11   2     2     1     1   Our cat became very ill so our local vet recommended tis practice over the Holiday weekend- we were told the care over 3-5 days ( including an ultrasound ) may be 2500-3000 dollars. After only one day, they recommeded she be put down- Our final bill was $1800.00 for one day of care- we were outraged- the vet did noyt return our call the night she was admitted- I expressed we wanted no heroics and could not afford this expense due to another emergency with our child- No return call and the call the next day informed us there wwas no hope. WE Were so stunned to get the final bill, which was over 2 pages of itemized cots for less than 24 hours of care. Ask more questions up front about costs if you would ever consider this option. They lack ethics and prove to be cunning and heartless in the end. Along with our bill, they send a sympathy card- We are broke and distressed- Our local vet expressed their concern abut this referral and we hope they use greater caution in referring. RID: 27471
Click to report rating    2/20/11   1     1     1     1   i have met many vets in my day and visited many vet hospitals and vet offices but this vsec hospital is the WORST! Click to report rating    7/28/10   1     1     1     1   I work for a dog rescue organization. We brought a dog to VSEC on July 2, 2010 with a broken leg rear leg that needed to be surgically repaired with pins. The dog was operated on July 2 by one of their surgeons. After the surgery the dog was released on July 3 with hardware in his leg without prescribing post surgical antibiotics. Our foster home, with extensive experience taking care of dogs in this situation, brought the dog back for weekly bandage changes by the interns, residents or techs. Each time the bandage was changed, the toes were covered so we had no way of monitoring if the leg was swelling or becoming infected. Every Vet that we have spoken to recently said that a bandage MUST expose the toes. On the first bandage change (July 12) we were told by a resident or intern veterinarian that one of the pins was coming out of the wound. They did nothing about it, changed the bandage without exposing the toes and told us to bring him back in one week. After a week we brought the d RID: 18975
