My awful experience happened a few years back. My cat was blocked and my vet was closed. Somebody suggested SouthGlen since they don't charge emergency fees. Took our cat there; was given 2 options. First was to unblock him at a cost of $900 (which is over double what my own vet charged at the time). Or, given his history of blocking (once before) and his food allergies, they suggested PU surgery for only $400 more, but he would never have blockages again. So we opted for this extreme surgery, thinking we were doing what's best for our cat. Not so! Although the "after care" was free, we could never get an apt. And he needed lots of after care; the stoma never healed properly. They only got half the stitches out and at one point he was scootching; they suggested anal gland expression! After just having surgery in that area! are you kidding me?! We ended up at our own vet for his after-care. Which lasted many years (see continuation)

Wowsa, agree with many other posts, nickel dime you understatement. Every thing is extra. That was my first time there and likely the last. Guess they are making us pay for being open the hours they do. Too bad really because it would be so convenient for me to go there and the vet herself was very nice. Crazy pricing system.

Great staff who treat my dog like it was their own. My dog is a senior with several health problems. They are always available even if I need to see someone within an hour if I have an emergency. Would highly recommend them. They do not do unnecessary tests and procedures and have always given me options.

My dog had surgery to the tune of $1500.00. His condition didn't toally resolve so I took him back in for another $150.00. That didn't totally resolve it either. It left me wondering if he actually needed the surgery to begin with and also why they can't resolve the total issue. Costs for Heartgard and other meds are very high, higher than I've seen elsewhere. They want to check one of my other dog's thyroid every 6 months rather than once a year as he's had at another vet...it's the only way they'll give him his medication, which he's been taking for years without a problem. The staff all has their talking points about wanting to take the best care of the animals but it seems to me that all they want is the money. Now I have to find another vet.

We took our dog here last year, and he needed emergency surgery. They did a good job with the surgery, but his recovery the staff were very rude. They only seemed interested in the money, and not how our dog was doing. I would never take my dog back there, they took a lot of money from us.

We were charged $60 to draw blood, a simple blood test as they called it was $350. which you only find out about when you pay, not before. I do not recommend this place unless you are desperate. We went to get a prescription for our pet which was supposed to be in the file, it's not, it says we refused meds, not so. So we paid all this money for what exactly?

We took our cat to Southglen as an emergency. He was in obvious pain and his hindlegs did not support him. He was unable to stand up. The vet assistant was going to weigh him, when we first got there. I offered to lift the cat onto the scale but she insisted on doing it. She kept trying to stand him up despite us telling her that he could not and that his hindlegs were very painful. When he growled and screemed in pain she told him to calm down. It was horrible for us to watch. As it turns out he had a broken femor and must have been in excruiating pain being handled in the manner he was. To me this indicates either a lack of training or compassion or both. The vet, Dr. Tait, on the other hand was amazing. She was very gentle, compassionate and kind. She showed the x-rays and discussed options with us. She showed us compassion as well when the cat had to euthanized. She gave us lots of time to say good bye and did what she could to help us cope. And yes, the bill was way above average.

Southglen is my secondary clinic. As a secondary clinic, they are fantastic for staffing, facilities and hours. I struggle with the money side of it due to a fee structure for EVERYTHING. IE. A full blood panel, is not a full panel - it does not include CBC. They charge nearly $20 for a blood draw - which I'm sorry, but this should be included in any fee for blood work. I don't know any other vet who bills like this. Because of the facilities and service, I have no issue that their services costs more - for say the vet visit, blood work, medication, surgery - that's fine, but I don't like being nickle and dimed. That being said, the vets are always helpful, you just need to remember to ask for a breakdown on prices if the price catches you and ask them if a cheaper alternative exists. They care about the animals and that's what counts so they will remain my emergency clinic or back up clinic when I can't see my regular veteranian.

We used to go to Southglen, but recently their prices have shot up and they seem to have gone through a lot of staff. The place seems to have many young and inexperienced employees now. The lady vet we had on a couple of visits was fantastic. The facilities are very nice, presumably that is why they charge so much. "You don't always get what you pay for."

I don't normally rate online. I see few ratings below that do not provide any facts. I have been using this vet hospital for last 2 years or so. All my experiences here have been amazing. The staff is wonderful, always willing to answer your questions. Docs are great. All the ratings about the cost are stupid in my opinion. There are clinics which are more expensive than Southglen. I have used several vet hospitals in the past and I find prices at Southglen very competitive. I'm sure you can get cheap vet services at other places but remember you get what you pay for!! I highly recommend Southglen vet hospital.

We noticed our dog of 9 years had some blood on her gums and we took her to Southglen. The vet determined that our dog had been poisoned. We were shocked, as our dog is with us constantly and we had no idea as to how this could have happened. We were advised that this was treatable, the recommended treatment was medication to get her body to produce blood cells and blood transfusions until her body could produce blood cells on its own. After our fees totaled $4500 and she was not getting better the "diagnosis" changed and we were told she had cancer. We were then advised that the best course of action was to euthanize our beloved pet. Not sure if the misdiagnosis was incompetence or if our love for her was taken advantage of?

She always remembers both mine and my dogs names and makes a point of coming over to give lucky some attention. I would highly recommend this clinic to everyone!

Took my cat in on a summer night after finding a lump/wound. Dr Singh or Sra looked at it and asked if he hurt himself.. I said no, he's an indoor cat? Dr then asked if we put anything on it because it was black.. he then picked at it, caused it to bleed, and cauterized it. My poor cat screamed. He sent us home and said put polysporin on it and if it doesn't go away in a couple weeks, surgery was needed. I took my cat in for a 2nd opinion to Catrysse Vet a month later after it grew twice in size, and he knew right away it was a TUMOR. He did surgery and found it was skin cancer (Melanoma). My cat was put down 48 days later because it spread so fast. I can't help but wonder if I could have saved him or prolonged his life if Southglen didn't misdiagnose and aggrivate the tumor by opening it. NEVER going back here, i'll pay more at animal emergency.

The staff is extremely arrogant. A total fake. Our experience with this clinic has been horrible. Sent by doctors at the Stonewall Hospital, they had to do an ultrasound for our dog. We ended up paying 253 for the ultrasound only and the Indian doctor was not going to discuss the prices with us. Because those are Moon prices, not Human prices. If you said you were all so happy, that means that you are brainwashed and the amount of money doesn't matter. It matters to us when it comes to affording to treat a sick animal. They make it impossible. Very rude and arrogant people. We will never go back to this one or Stonewall. He asked us to take our animal and leave, because we asked them for accountability. Truth bothers them. Greed at its highest, this is what this is.

Expensive, This clinic claims that they donot charge emergency fee but most of their services are very expensive. I took my dog there as he vomited couple of times but was quite bright but doctors kept him in the hospital for 3 days which costed me $2000. People beware. They mean business.

Please be careful with at this clinic. My cat came in because he was thin but he was eating fine. He was given all kinds of expensive tests and his blood work came back normal. They gave him medication for Hyperthyroidism - Tapazole on a 'hunch' as they couldn't figure out any other reason for the weight loss. My cat was ok for a while and then he got sicker, stopped eating, started having seizures and signs of toxicity (fell down when he tried to walk). I took him back several times, and told them to try taking him off the meds(which they WAY over-charged for) but by time we realized it was probably the medication that was harming our cat, he was suffering severe seizures and Dr. Tait strongly suggested we put him down. I really feel that they didn't know what they were doing and were just guessing. When my cat was put down they still could not tell us what caused his condition. I believe they killed him with unnecessary medicine. Please be careful with Tapazole. This med is dangerous

We had to take our beloved dog here to be put down because she was very sick and we didn't want her to suffer through the weekend until our regular vet clinic was open. We signed the form to have our dog euthanized, requesting both private cremation and a paw print keepsake. The paw print was never done because "they forgot" and they were not very apologetic about it. We have lost something that we can never get back again because of their carelessness. Please don't let this happen to you. Request that the paw print be done while your pet is still alive. This has been devastating to our family.

I have used Southglen Vet Hospital on several occasions after hours and was very impressed with each Vet that cared for my dogs. The staff are very compassionate and friendly as well as knowledgeable. The staff really listened to my concerns and took the time to explain my options well so that I could make an informed decision. The hospital is clean and very modern and they are open late 7 nights a week which gives me such peace of mind! I am switching over!

I truly feel this clinic takes advantage a nickel and dimes it's clients. Performed a botch surgery on my dog who they diagnosed with Entropion, dog's never been able to close her eyes since. Had to go back for second surgery. Wish at the time I ask more questions about the surgical experience at the time. Furthermore the front desk admin staff seem poorly trained, agreed to fax a filled out claim form to insurance agency because when we picked up the dog doctor who diagnosed wasn't in, rather than come back they agreed to get the doctor to sign the form, but didn't fax along invoice with claim outstanding for weeks at xmas no less.

tried this clinic last fall based on a referal, but the doctor we wanted was not in - the vet we did meet (cannot remember name - young female) made us very nervous to leave our dog with - she seemed insecure and timid, and turned bright red with embarrassment when WE corrected HER. not confidant in her abilities at ALL, so took our dog to the pembina clinic instead. immediatley felt at ease and trusted our dogs life with them. also had to wait awhile to be seen even tho we were the only ppl there on a saturday night.

My cat was attacked by a dog and severly injured. These people were absolutely amazing. They took him in asap. They were honest with the price to save his life. Help make it more affordable the best they could. Worked with us, never got annoyed of phone calls. Always polite. I cannot thank them enough for what they did and how they managed to save my cats life. I have another cat and a dog and they are all going to be going there from now on. This place is the BEST animal hospital I have been to. Dr. Jill Tait, Dr. Sra, and Dr. Bhandari are miracle workers. I have never seen a vet with so much compassion for animals as I did in Dr. Tait, and all of them. If you have any doubt at all you should just give them a chance you'll be amazed. Once again Thank you to all the staff

My kitten has not eaten in 4 days & I took her in to see the vet. He did an initial exam & said he can't see anything wrong with her besides having mites,& wanted to do a blood test for leukemia. We did the test - results were negative. He then wanted a test to check her red blood cell levels, etc. Now, I am not very well-off & made this very clear to the vet & then asking the cost of all these tests & if they are actually "needed". This one test was $120, but I decided I wanted to go through with it just in case something really was wrong. After, he shows me the results. Again, nothing is abnormal, just a few high levels due to her not eating & being a little dehydrated - nothing serious. He then tells me the total including tax: $323. I almost fainted. He then said he was going to treat the mites & give her something to settle the stomach & some fluids. NOT informing me this was going to run my bill up another $80 or giving me the option to refuse the treatments. I will never go back

Excellent facility. I found this place when my cat needed urgent services late at night. They were able to see her right away and didn't charge extra for an emergency visit. Premises are always clean and tidy, staff and doctors are all very knowledgeable and compassionate. My cats have been seen by three of the vets there and all take the time to explain why they are doing each test, what the results mean, and why they are reommending certain medications. I have switched my cats to this vet and will never take them anywhere else. The hours are excellent. I am so happy to have found this place.

I have been bringing my two dogs to this clinic for a few years and am extremely pleased with the service that they receive. We have been fortunate enough to have caring Doctors whose best interest lies with the quality of care for our animals. Each time we have been lucky to have Kim-a Veterinarian Technician at the clinic. She is amazing with our animals, extremely kind and informative. She is one of a kind. This is some of the people that you will deal with when visiting this clinic. It is well worth the drive and with their new hours, it is convenient for all customer schedules. Keep up the great work to all the staff at Southglen Veterinary Hospital:)

WOW! what an amazing vet hospital. Awesome hours, amazing staff, and best of all no emergency fees! Had an extremely horrible experience with the Pemina Hospital once before was never going to go to a vet hospital again until i found out about this place. I Had to take my cat there last night. It was a great experience, i felt i could really trust the vet, they were upfront and honest about all the costs and they ended up not charging for the x-ray because they wanted to do it for their own piece of mind. 100% i will go back there again. I love my regular vet but if she ever leaves I will definitely go here. EMERGENCY'S = SOUTHGLEN VET hands down no comparrison to anywhere else.

Staff are always extremly friendly and willing to anwser all questions, and all staff are extremly good with animals, rather than lifting my dog up onto a table for an exam, the vet came down to his level to do the exam - a lot less stressfull for both owner and dog!! Always easy to book an apt to get in - our one dog had an eye infection and i called to see about booking an apt and was told they could see me right away!! Very clean facility and a great enviroment!! highly highly reccomend this clinic! its also nice too that they are open 7-midnight 7 days week and never charge an emergency fee!!

Used this clinic in an emergency - good service, friendly, clean, but had to question the cost of one of the drugs, tech talked to the vet, and discovered it was an overcharge ($50). Next day returned both the nsaid and antibiotic as one of them caused diarrhea - had to question the low amount of credit for these pills - again, they talked to the vet in the back, and returned with a better rate. I feel bad for people who trust their bill (which we should be able to do). Twice in 24 hours having to question the charges - not good. Good that they responded, though.

Vets and staff working here really do care about animals and always try to make them feel as comfortable as possible during exams and procedures.
