Click to report rating    4/19/23   2     2     1     1   I wish I read the reviews before I brought my dog to be spayed/ I picked her up post op covered in her poop. She would not be set down at home and spiked a fever. When I took her for a follow up, her perscibed antibiotic and pain meds saying it was just to keep me happy? Also, returning for him to fix his infection from assembley line surgery cost me dearly RID: 70654
Click to report rating    6/10/20   1     1     1     1   9 yrs ago my daughter's newf went in to be neutered. Thought they had done it correctly but in Dec he developed a lump where his testicles were. Took him to another vet and they were confused as to what it was since we said he was definitely neutered. They operated on him today to take the lump out and it is a TESTICULE. Was probably up in his body so they couldn't find it but if they only took one out you think they would have informed us of that. Since we haven't been there in so long they destroyed the file. Would have been nice if they would have contacted us to ask if there is another vet we wanted the file transferred to before they destroyed it. RID: 69306
Click to report rating    1/17/18   1     1     1     1   I called them this morning jan17th 2018 My cat that has been my husband pet for 16 years passed away during the night and on his birthday. I asked how much for cremation and they told me 282 that they wanted first. I was really upset and asked them if they could take him now until i can pay for it on fri or even give them half and they said no. The girl on the phone told me "put him in the freezer until i have the money. I was shocked and hurt . i cant believe they said that they have no compassion i was told they were good and reasonable after that comment i wouldn't recommend to anyone is that what they would do to there family when they pass.i feel so upset bout it that if i walk by there place i would spit on there property maybe they should stop counting the ole mighty dollar and show some compassion RID: 65392

10/7/17   1     3     2     3   In the past I felt confident that my pets were treated according to their needs - no longer the case. During my last 2 visits - with different Vets at Stalles I felt like 'the up sell' was front and centre. The philosophy of care has obviously changed since Dr. Staples retired. Prices have increased significantly with a decrease in care. In the past, price point was a deciding factor, making wait times acceptable. This is no longer the case. During our last visit, we were seen by the 'new' male vet. He was condescending and inflexible. He seemed irritated when I asked for explanations for clarification and became frustrated when I inquired about alternative options for care. my dog broke a tooth. In order to remove this tooth I was required to pay for the standard teeth cleaning and then pay an additional price for the extraction. My dog doesn't need her teeth cleaned. A simple extraction was not an option. Making appts for surgery is another nightmare. Time for a change! RID: 64798
Click to report rating    8/23/17   5     5     5     5   I had inherited a beautiful Cocker Spaniel from a relative and unfortunately in her later years, she had come with many problems. Dr. Vieira and her staff were so wonderful and supportive. In a short span of time my little pirate had two surgeries in which they called for several days after to check on her condition. If I had any questions or concerns, they always took the time to see us, explain what was going on and came up with a plan to move forward. The staff are kind and caring and the prices are beyond reasonable. I would definitely recommend this vet clinic to anyone. RID: 64498
Click to report rating    5/4/17   1     4     1     4   Unfortunately this clinic has taken a turn where it is next to impossible to contact for making an appointment. After trying for days at random times only to get a busy signal I finally get through and am immediately put on hold until after several minutes I gave up. This used to be the best clinic in South western Ontario in my opinion. Used to be . I don't know what has happened but my furry little buddies will NOT be returning. I have found a vet that actually have office contact with and am moving my business. I will miss thee way This clinic was. RID: 63543

Click to report rating    10/1/16   5     5     5     5   Dr Staples is a very knowledgeable veterinary and does a great job. I've taken all of my animals there for the past 20 years. It is a very busy clinic and he is very efficient. I don't know where he finds the time to do so much. RID: 61725

9/30/14   1     5     5     1   I have been going to Dr Staples for 35 years. I have had Dobermans, shelards and now cats. He is upstanding, honest and knowledgeable beyond belief. I love this clinic..... Until today. I left crying. My cat was treated so poorly and screeching. When I asked for my cat back she was whisked away. I never saw Dr Staples and for the $300 dollar checkup I should have dealt with a Dr and not the 3 young girls. The bigger girl at the front desk spent the first 10 min swearing and talking about the other 2 young girls and how customers were talking poorly about the clinic on Facebook! I wonder why? They gossiped for 15 min, the bigger receptionist said the F@&$ word 7 times that I was in the clinic and it's sad these are the girls that will bring this clinic down. I did see a nice vet but I had already told them the"issue" and since I never saw Dr Staples I was FLOORED when I had to pay $300 and was told more money would be needed. I left cryin and my cat horrified! RID: 53826

5/2/14   5     5     4     5   Dr. Staples has NEVER lost his licence. When people do not follow his advise their animals may run into problems (duh) and first thing they do is run to emerg and report him the college for their negligence. Vets have a self regulating body which means they are instantly guilty until proven innocent $$. Same as Nursing. This means it is cheaper to plead guilty WHEN YOU ARE NOT. If you want "hand holding" and flowers and to subject your animal to needless procedures, or be constantly referred to specialists $ go elsewhere. If you want excellence, quality of care for your animal, then go to Dr. Staples with over 45 years of experience who is NOT in the business to milk people of unnecessary care. This idealism is not popular with his competition which is why he is being bad mouthed here… There are so few competent Vets, most just refer you to the college for stuff they should know, (more than just vaccines and heart worm testing) ! I don't know what we will do when Dr. Staples retires. RID: 51362

4/3/14   5     3     3     5   If you're a Richie Rich pet owner who's used to paying top dollar so that you can get a cappuccino while you're waiting to have your dog seen, or so your vet can drive a high-end Mercedes (like you maybe do), then go to a different vet. The facilities may not be glamorous inside, or stocked with human comforts, but that is only because he's seeking to provide quality care at prices that normal people can afford. Both Dr. Staples and his staff are actually very respectful as long as you are to them (believe it or not, respect is a two-way street). Yes, Dr. Staples is very busy and may not spend a lot of time assessing your pet, but if you ask him questions, he will stay with you as long as necessary to answer them. One time when my bullterrier was in there for spontaneous paralysis and I was worried sick, the whole staff came into this tiny room to express their sympathy and support. I've never received that level of caring ANYWHERE else, nor do I ever expect to. He is a great vet. RID: 50854

3/13/14   5     5     5     5   I can say that this clinic did a great job. I got 2 poodles spayed and they healed perfectly and there is almost no scar. I also got on dog's very dirty teeth cleaned they are so much better now. They also pulled 3 rotten teeth and gave me meds for her. The price is great to it was a third of what my regular vet charges. I am not sure why it is so much cheaper. RID: 50466

10/19/13   1     1     1     1   Recently had my cat taken to have a urinary catheter put in for a 3 day hospital stay. During that time I never received any updates and when I called the vet was never available to speak with. When I picked up my cat there was no one available to explain how the procedures went or what symptoms to be wary of post procedure. I still remain unaware of what tests may have been conducted if any, or what drugs may have been used. After bringing him home and trying to call the vet to find out more information I was given nothing but attitude and no answers to my questions... After paying for the procedure the only response if I had any concerns was to contact the emergency clinic if problems persists... As a result of the lack of communication my cat never made it and it was his second day home. Once you've made the commitment to pay this hospital makes no commitment to the long term health of your pet. Pay the extra money and have someone that takes the time to care for your pet. RID: 47718

8/15/13   5     5     5     5   I have been taking my dogs to Dr Staples since 1995. He is concerned only with the health of the animals.. He is a great vet, the staff are great.. The place is always clean.. I wouldn't trust my dogs to anyone but Dr Staples and his staff.. I drive more than an hour to take my dogs to him. He had done earcropping / spay / neuters, and many other procedures for us.. Never a problem.. And he keeps his prices where they are affordable.. He is an awesome vet ! RID: 46308

5/27/13   5     5     5     5   I have 4 small dogs teath cleaned in the last two years. These dogs range from 3 to 4 pounds each. I was concered about having them done because they are so small. We had no problems. The staff was great, my dogs where well cared for at the clinic, everything was well explained to me as far as procedure and they came home healthy. I realize that there are alot of dogs in and out through the day, a very efficient clinic that can keep cost down for the pet owners. We appreciate that. RID: 42748

Click to report rating    4/28/13   1     1     2     4   We recommended our niece for her aging Shi Tzu as she was coming from out of town. no one asked for the medical records and no one reviewed them properly before giving a diagnosis. Did not listen to the our niece what her concerns were or asked her questions. This was very concerning and surprising considering that her dog has a lot of allergies and was aging. She was told that maybe it was time to turn in for a new model. Our pets are our family. Felt this was totally in appropriate and very uncaring. She was made to feel like just another number. Will not be returning or recommend to anyone else. RID: 42143
Click to report rating    4/8/13   4     4     4     5   I have been satisfied with service I have received for many of my dogs for spay/neuter and recently for check ups and vaccinations for 2 of my dogs. The price is amazing and the attending vet spent over 30 minutes with me and my collie and jack Russell. RID: 41621
Click to report rating    4/3/13   5     5     5     5   Love Staples!! The staff are fantastic and dr staples is an amazing vet! We take all our dogs to him and recommend him to everyone we know! RID: 41508

Click to report rating    2/22/13   5     4     3     5   Our family has had two huskies and two german sheppards and all of them have gone to staples without issue. Yes it is very busy, although he is straight up, tells you how it is and is honest. Gives you what you need and can afford. He isn't going to spend all day chatting up a storm with you, that's why you don't spend 500 dollars for a 200 dollar procedure. If you have 30 mins to chat me up, you obviously aren't busy and if you aren't busy, why is that. I am a person that respects a straight up honest person who doesn't try to over sell you. Our dog is on steroids and they aren't good for her, but she needs them, she is on the lowest dose that works and thats all we can do, what good is blood work every 6 months going to do but stress her out and spend our money. RID: 40630
Click to report rating    1/29/13   4     4     3     5   The best there is. Be prepared to wait past your appt time because of this. All the breeders go to him because he knows his stuff. Rates are far less than other clinics. RID: 40003
Click to report rating    1/21/13   4     3     4     5   I am from Toronto and took my puppy there for her ear cropping. Dr. Staples is a artist- her ears are beautiful. She also had her tail fixed it was docked improperly and was spayed all for the cost of a spay at a toronto veternarian. We were there early in the morning (as soon as the clinic opened) so there was no wait. Dr. Staples is a very busy man but is matter of fact and answers all questions he is asked. His staff is perfectly fine and polite. As the day wore on they got very busy but remained friendly although maybe a little short. In Toronto we call that excellent customer service!! My only complaint is with the building itself. When we came to pick up our puppy she was still asleep and on a table like she had been discarded. We could see all this because there is ALOT of windows into the operating room. We went into a panic because we thought something had gone horribly wrong and she was dead. Perhaps not the best place for open windows. Will use him again for sure. RID: 39788
Click to report rating    1/17/13   1     1     1     1   I took my 10 month old german shepherd to get fixed there and the entire time I was there, Dr. Staples was treating him like he was vicious and insisted that they sedate him before going to the operating room. He was not growling, or showing ANY sign of aggression. Anyone who knows my dog, knows that he is the SWEETEST, most affectionate dog ever. Dr. Staples was 'testing' to see if he was 'vicious' and kept grabbing him and pulling him down, which was scaring Jasper and he was freaked out obviously by it But even when Jasper was scared, he still showed NO sign of aggression at all. But Dr. Staples said that he needed to be sedated because he was 'skiddish'. Um, since when does 'skiddish' equal vicious? Also, when me and my sister went to pick him up, they made US go get him out of the cage b/c they refused to go near him. I felt like they were discriminated against his breed. It was very unprofessional and I will never EVER go back to a vet that discriminates against breeds. RID: 39717
Click to report rating    1/14/13   3     1     1     4   This clinic is an excellent demonstration that you get what you pay for. Yes, the prices are very low, but I had to spend twice what it cost to have my cat spayed with him to have his mess fixed by another veterinarian... So it would have been chaper for me (and WAY less stress for poor Molly!) to have it done right the first time. Also, I did some research and it looks like he has had his lisence suspended twice by the ontario veterinary association. Here's proof: http://www.cvo.org/imis15/CVO/Public_... He's not even allowed to practice right now! RID: 39615
Click to report rating    11/8/12   5     5     5     5   dr staples and staff helpful and efficient. i have rescued a few feral cats and the prices are sensible. RID: 38351
Click to report rating    10/1/12   5     5     5     5   I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Staples for the last 10 or so years and have had excellent service. They never recommend additional treatments if not required and offer great advice. Dr. Staples is very caring and compassionate and I will continue to take my animals there. The prices are also very reasonable - Thank you for your services RID: 37563
9/28/12   3     2     3     1   dr staples is inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. he cuts corners! he has the best intentions and is a nice guy, but only when i started looking around and talking to other veterinary professionals did i realize what i had been skipping for my dog that i didnt know existed! my dog is on a steroid because he has allergies...dr staples never told me they might have an effect on his organs and has never even asked me to do bloodwork! I found out doing bloodwork is important when keeping him on a steroid long-term!! the harm i couldve been doing to my dog breaks my heart. not to mention he has never once mentioned my dogs teeth which are HORRIBLE - even I know he needs some work there. i switched once i realized what kind of value i could get elsewhere. paying a little extra is worth it RID: 37509
Click to report rating    7/2/12   5     5     5     5   If there was a rating scale of 10 I could check it off! Dr Staples was amazing, kind, and considerate. The prices were amazing I would have paid a fortune/had paid a fortune at other vets and Staples was a fraction of the cost. He believes that everyone should be able to afford to have a pet. Even his evaluation of my dog was by someone who clearly cared about animals. He did a real physical assessment not giving me a bologna response about how I needed to have bloodwork/unnecessary medication. I think it gives you a real hint when the waiting room is as busy as it is too - it means that he has a ton of satisfied customers who continue to return! My girl was spayed here and she was her bag of beans self when I picked her up - definitely not a dog after surgery, she healed extremely well and other than sleeping a bit more the first day she was her regular self! Without a doubt Staples is one of the best vets I've ever been to! RID: 35361
Click to report rating    6/7/12   5     5     3     5   I am so thankful that there are doctors around like Dr. Staples. He is honest, and he cares for our animals! He keeps his prices reasonable, and because of him I can afford to have a pet. Yes, sometimes I have to wait, but considering what I will have to pay at the end of the visit, this is ok by me!Doctor Staples has a wonderful sense of humor and he makes the visit fun as well as professional! I totally, recommend Staples to all of my friends. Myself and "Charlie Stewart" are so happy to have this man, his staff, and a convenient location! I am glad his office is busy...it shows how good he is! RID: 34824
Click to report rating    4/2/12   1     1     2     1   Welll what can I say... you get what you pay for at this clinic. I brought my two 12 week old puppies in for there 2nd set of shot and was not impressed with how I was spoken to from the start. The ladies at the front desk were rude and unorganized. They do not have contol or keep the large waiting room safe. I never saw the waiting room with under at least 12 animals waiting. YOU will wait at least an hour to see the vet and once you finally get into a room you get the basic treatment from Dr. Staples. Dr Staples didn't even bother asking me my name or my dogs names. This animal hospital clearly only cares about the bottom dollar and how much money they can make in a day. get in, get out and pay your bill. Yes the prices are cheap however I rather have my puppies go to a vet that will take the time with me and my dogs and pay a little extra and know my pets are getting 100% the best care. I will never set foot in this animal hospital again. RID: 33303
Click to report rating    3/26/12   5     5     5     5   Excellent service and prices. Dr. Staples was considerate and kind. Had 3 surgeries done, all were perfect. RID: 33158
3/26/12   4     4     4     5   Had four barn cats neutered/spayed (3 females, 1 male) there for about half the price of getting one done elsewhere with no complaints/problems. Yes, there were many animals in the waiting room at one time, but isn't that the same anywhere - vets, doctor's offices, emergency departments? When my animals were examined, we were in a room by ourselves, not a cubicle. There was no lack of care that I could see. As for the person who said Dr. Staples had lost his license numerous times, you are downright lying (slanderous). I could not understand why the prices were so low compared to other facilities and contacted the governing body of veterinarians as I thought maybe malpractice suits/no clients could be the reason. They sent me back a report that stated he has not had any disciplinary action against him of any kind. You could be sued over statements like that if your identity was known. RID: 33151
Click to report rating    3/18/12   5     4     4     5   very caring and helpful. Price is excellant compared to other facilities. RID: 32985
Click to report rating    3/13/12   3     1     1     5   Had my dog here once, and she will never go back. We got put into a giant waiting room with at least a dozen other dogs (very sanitary if one is sick!). After that, we were put into a big open room with little medical stations, and got to witness the person next to us being informed that their cat was beyond repair. The prices were very cheap, but cheap means nothing when it comes to the care of my dog. RID: 32858
Click to report rating    1/31/12   5     5     5     5   I brought my Beagle to Staples over 2 years ago.Dr Staples talked to me and not down at me.The difference in cost was 4000 for operation alone in Sudbury, but at Staples it cost me 950 for operation, meds and xrays .My beagle had lucsating petella in short she had to have knee surgery because when she ran the knee slipped out of joint. It was very painful for her. The repair was done excellent and she is running around today like her leg never had a problem. I was told to keep her calm for 6 weeks to let it heal or there would be problems, I followed these orders.I am more than pleased with the results. Dr Staples told me that the other back leg had the same problem but to leave it alone since it had never bothered her and may never. To this day she has no problems with it.I would recommend this Vet to anyone. All the staff were great, beautiful facility.Dr Staples is a professional, he took the time to explain everything to me pre and post operation, and did great surgery on my beagle. RID: 31910
Click to report rating    1/13/12   5     5     3     5   Dr. Staple's is an excellent surgeon. I took my puppy there to get a spay done and she was up and running around an hour after with only a couple stitches. totally different experience than other higher priced Vets. Priced affordible too. As a nurse I do know that most often when people complain about medical service it is because THEY don't follow the Dr's directions and then wonder recovery doesn't go smoothly ! RID: 30518
Click to report rating    12/1/11   1     1     1     1   Staples is nothing more than an assembly line. Too many animals having surgery too close together. When one animal stitched he moves down to the next table that has a animal ready. Not enough techs to recover animals waking up if emergency comes up other animals left on their own. But I guess you get what you pay for, and that's why my dogs stitches let go and was told from another vet because the muscle layer was sewn up so poorly. Will never go back, would pay the extra $ to have surgery done properly. RID: 29517

3/24/11   5     5     5     5   Great service! Really nice staff and fair prices. I called a few Vets in London to have my small dogs teeth cleaned and the prices went from $500 to $250!!! Staples did them for $137+tax and did exactly what they said they would do. No hidden cost, plus a dog tooth brush and snacks for her teeth! They were totally full when I went to pick up my dog! No wonder, for such great service. RID: 23826

Click to report rating    10/22/09   5     5     5     5   I have been taking my cat to Dr. Staples for for about five years now. I have always found Dr. Staples to be personable, knowledgeable and very compassionate. He always uses a calming voice and talks directly to my cat to soothe him. I find the vet technicians to be equally caring. Dr. Staples recently treated my cat for a medical condition and offered excellent advice, efficient testing and prescription medication. I called his office when it opened with my concern and he examined my cat within the hour! My experienced have always been that positive with Staples. When I had concerns about my cat's reaction to the medicine the next day I called Dr. Staples' office again (near closing time I should add) and was provided with thorough, very specific advice that eased my concerns and provided a course of action for follow-up if need be. I have also been told by a friend who works in animal care that Dr. Staples provides his services at a very competitive price. RID: 14975
