I trusted this clinic to be there for my girl's first litter.She gave me her card with her personal cell on it and I was so relieved she told us would be there for us. However, when the time came and things were not going well, we left two messages an hour apart and ended up going to the emergency clinic :( When I asked afterwards what went wrong, she said she told us text only. My partner was with me and she most certainly did NOT. Nor is than any kind of excuse. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I began my client/vet relationship with FVAH days before the pandemic took hold. Not only did Dr. Shelley Horvat see me on an emergency call on a Sunday, she handled our situation with incredible care, professionalism, and heartfelt honesty, going over all the options and possibilities for my senior dog in distress. New to the area, this was my third vet in 6 months. I'm not the easiest client (because of my mistrust of Big Pharma), but we worked together to support her to be comfortable in her final weeks.
I received excellent care and contact from FVAH. When the heartbreaking time came to let my dog go, they came to the house (with distancing measures). I’m so grateful I found FVAH. Shelley and her team go above and beyond for animals and their people. I cannot imagine what would have happened had I not found such a thorough, caring, and professional service. I’m forever grateful.

We were new cat owners and the vet was very patient with us answering all of our questions and very gentle with our new kitten. We have been going here for a year now and are thrilled every time we get to visit for another immunization because the staff make us feel so welcome.

We just had our dog spayed using the laproscopic procedure. Dr. Horvat and staff were informative, kind, helpful and everything went very well. More expensive than regular spay, but our pup was able to run and play almost immediately with no cone. She had one dose of pain medicine and then was fine other than some diarrhea which was resolved with Dr. Horvat suggesting probiotic paste and rice and boiled hamburger diet. All is great with her. Highly recommend this clinic.

We have been taking our pets to Dr Horvat for a few years now and have nothing but good things to say about our experiences. She cares for them and treats them as if they were her own.
Recently we lost one of our pugs after a 7 year battle with cancer. Dr Horvat was fantastic throughout those years offering several different treatments and medications. I strongly believe without Dr Horvat's experience, care and knowledge that we would not have had those 7 happy years with our little dog.
When it came time to say goodbye Dr Horvat's team was very sympathetic but professional.
I cannot say enough about this practice and would strongly recommend it to friends and family.
We love Winston!!!!

Shelly Horvat is a great vet! I have been taking my cats to see her for years. She's a true animal lover and always has the best advice when it comes to my fur babies and their health. I would deffinetly recommend seeing her here at this clinic!

staff knowledgeable and very helpful and personable; facility not only clean but cool too! never have had a long wait time; always let you know what cost could be and then lets you decide...no pressure...I highly recommend this clinic, would not go anywhere else even though I have to travel a fair bit out of my area...totally worth it

I love this clinic! The staff is exceptionally outgoing, friendly, kind, helpful and knowledgeable. The receptionist always asks if she can place you on hold or if you have an emergency when you call, showing how seriously they take our animals health. Dr. Bruce took time to teach us a few important things about our new Shiba Inu puppy and her temperament, she gave us valuable puppy training tips, taught us how to tell if she was getting enough nutrition (or too much), and took her time examining her thoroughly. The clinic also provided a quote for her upcoming spay and told me everything that we could expect. It is abundantly clear that the absolute priority in this clinic is the health and well being of the animals they care for, and it shows in the doctors and staff who work there. We will always trust FVAH with our fur babies!

I took my cat here for the first time last week and even though my cat was a bit grumpy the staff were calm and nice and were able to handle my cat in a gentle manner. I appreciate that they did not make me feel badly about my cat's bad behaviour

My dog had been biting near her tail due to fleas. Brought her in to buy advantage. Vet said we had to do a check up on her first. I get in the exam room, my Dane X barked, vet wouldn't touch her. They said they had no muzzles for her to use so she felt better about touching her. She guessed it was just fleas, charged me for an exam that didn't involve touching or looking and I got advantage.I'll never go back again.

We brought our 8yr old dog to this clinic and the first time was great, second time I brought him in as he was due for his kennel cough. After over an hour wait I was told he wasn't due for any shots till the following month. They even contacted our old vet and had his file sent over showing all his shots. I emailed the office last weekend and asked for an appointment to have his senior blood work and kennel cough done. I also spoke with them on the phone and told them he did not need his rabies as he had it the year before and to make sure that he was just given the kennel cough and blood work. My daughter took him in today and walked out with a 328.00 bill cause they had given him his rabies vaccine, and full set of immunizations as well as a full vet check, kennel cough and blood work. We also told them he wouldn't eat the large dry food they recommended and so they sold her a different brand that is just as large. This clinic doesn't listen!

We have been bringing our pack to Dr. Horvat for almost 10 years. Dr. Horvat's medical knowledge is vast, current and cutting edge! But, if she is not sure of something, she does not hesitate to consult a specialist. Her ability to make us and the dogs feel at ease is a tremendous asset. She includes us in treatment decisions and always tells us "if this was my dog.....". She explains our options, and is constantly educating us! Her staff is the greatest! Despite the fact that they are a "doctor's office" all my pack loves everyone there and is happy to see them. They are always greeted with warm and welcoming hearts and hands. We can get in within a couple days for any appointment, but they see us on a minute's notice if necessary. We had to make the hard decision to let one of ours go and the entire office cried with us. Dr. Horvat even sat on the floor with Molly's head in her lap to say her goodbyes. The compassion of the entire staff was heart-felt and comforting.

I have been bringing my 2 labs here since they were pups. In total we've been visiting Dr. Horvat for 7+ years. The staff are incredibly helpful and are always pleasant to deal with. They always answer my questions over the phone from how do I get sap out of dog fur, to my dog swallowed some foreign object (labs tend to do that) what should I do? I have recommended her to others and will continue to do so. She is amazing with my dogs and they love coming to see both her and the staff. If you want to know that your pet is in safe hands, this is where you need to take your pet.

I brought my cat Blair in , because of excessive vomiting . After trying to get financing to be able to afford testing with the cost being out of my reach for I am a single mother with three kids, I felt I was being pressured to get a urine and blood sample, after I said I can't afford this I then left with blair I then called back to confirm that the financing wouldn't go through, I was then told to at least come back and pick up the one pill to try that which though it didn't cost much it still added to the expensive day. Blair was givin the pill , and hasn't been sick since. I feel that in the situation I was in financially the vet should have suggested try the pill first not after the fact of expensive tests that were thrown out because of financial difficulty. Because of my experience I will not ever use your services again nor will not recommend you to others, I did phone another vet which also said because of my situation they would have just recommended try the cerenia first

I have phoned in to F.V.Animal Clinic for advice on how to deal with fleas, which had 'invaded' my home, via the cat I was 'babysitting'. I did't know much about fleas, in apartment buildings, but I feel like I was given a lot of info., for avoiding them in the future. I was told about a variety of products, how they worked, and if they were safe for other animals or kids in the house. I felt that the staff member on the phone was very polite, she listened, answered my ques., patiently, spent a lot of time, making sure I understood all of the information, and I felt like I was able to make a good, educated decision, when we went to the clinic for treatment. And so far - we have 'good progress'! This has been as "pleasant" of an experience as possible, for the cat and I; and because of the kindness, and respect we both received, I would definately go back, for any teatment of my pets. I rated punctuality 4 but realistically, I wish my 'Human' Doc. was this punctual & efficient!

I have a 2 year old cat, Maggie, who has been under the care of the FVAH her entire life. In fact she actually came from the clinic. Well not exactly. One of Dr. Horvat's clients called the hospital one day and said that their dog had arrived home with a 2 day old kitten and they had no idea what to do. So the clinic took the kitten in and Allison, with Brutus's help, fostered the kitten. Allison was getting up through the night to bottle feed this little fighter. Once she was on solid food she moved into my house. With the help of the FVAH we got her on the right food, vaccinated her, started her on flea and parasite control. Maggie has grown into a significant presence in our home and we are grateful to the FVAH for saving her life and brining her into our home!

I just had my cat neutered here and was thrilled that they tattoo'd him and gave him a nail trim for free. The staff was friendly and outgoing. I will definitely be a return client.

I live in Mission and bring all 3 of my dogs to FVAH. There are closer vets, but I like FVAH because the staff is incredibly friendly and I've had nothing but good experiences dealing with the veterinarians there. I recently had an incident with my yorkie which required her spleen to be removed. Dr. H was honest with me about our options and explained the possible outcomes of such a big surgery for such a little dog. She scheduled us in quickly and completed the surgery, took great care of her afterwards and followed up with a couple phone calls to my house to make sure she was recovering well. I really appreciated the care both Ella and I received when going through something that was so scary. Thank you FVAH!

I can't say enough about Dr. Horvat and the staff at FVAH. They are kind, compassionate and treat my animals like they are one of their own. My dog Abby has had a tough year so far and thanks to Dr. Horvat and the FVAH staff, she is now on the mend and recovering well from her ACL surgery. Abby currently visits FVAH once a week for assessments and physiotherapy. This level of care and expertise is why I drive from Pitt Meadows to have my animals seen by Dr. Horvat. In my opinion, she's the best Vet in the Lower Mainland!!

The quality of care at FVAH is exceptional. I appreciate the way that Dr. Horvat takes extra time to help me understand my pets condition and the options available to us. I travel from Maple Ridge to take my pets to FVAH because I believe the care my pets receive is superior, and also because I like to be informed and I like the way the staff at this clinic take an active role in sharing. The staff and Drs have a wonderful balance of clinical prowess and empathy for their patients, making them effective and pleasant. I love their facebook page, it's full of useful information and common injuries and conditions related to family pets. My 9 year old labradoodle, Atlas, actually enjoys his appointments, and always leaves a happy doodle. On Saturday just after 4pm my 60 lb weimaraner got in to a relitivly large amount of rat poison. I called this clinic and i was told my fiance could bring her in right away. when my fiance got there no more than 10 min later he was sent away because there was no doctor to see our dog. He then had to make a 30 min trip to a clinic in langley that could take her. when i called back to ask why my fiance was sent away i was told by the receptionist that she was new and didn't realize the doctor had left. are you kidding me?? maybe you should proberly train your staff so that they know when closing time is so people that are in a situation when time is of the essence they do not waste time going to this clinic or the other one in abbotsford that they told my fiance was open and able to take him.

The girls at the front are amazing. My dog had a rash from biting at fleas and I brought her in to get advantage. They talked me into an appt. saying it could be an allergy. When the female dr. came in my dog was barking nervously. I asked if they had a muzzle so she could examine her and the dr. said she was too nervous and would look from where she was. Of course she said it was just fleas. 80$ exam for absolutely nothing. She didn't even touch my dog. Ridiculous. Brought her over to Abbotsford Vet hospital and there was never an issue. Vet was not afraid of her nervous barking, we threw a muzzle on her and she eventually didn't even need it. I'd avoid this place if you have a rescue dog who is learning how to be confident. The vet's fear made it SO much worse, and of course there was the extra money for absolutely nothing.

I've been taking my dog to this clinic for 8 years even though I don't even live in Abbotsford. The care that my pet has received and the attention and follow-up that that the doctors and staff provide is top-notch. You'll find the prices at this clinic very fair and the service is above and beyond what you'd expect. Appointments are on time and never rushed - they always have time for any and all questions and concerns. I will continue to bring my pets to FVAH for years to come.
