Dr. Swainson is wonderful and very knowledgeable!! My puppy had a FHO and is doing great! Everyone at Colorado Canine Ortho is so caring and compassionate-especially Dr. Swainson and Janice, who gave discharge instructions and answered my frantic phone calls. I appreciated all of the encouragement and coaching during a stressful time.

Buckey, our 6-month old Siamese kitten broke his left elbow. Our primary vets, Black Forest Vet Clinic, took x-rays and identified the break. It looked like a simple break, the olecranon had broken off the ulna. We considered that a surgeon could reattach the olecranon to the ulna with a couple of pins and wires. There are several orthopedic surgeons in the Colorado Springs area, but we found that only Dr. Michael Bauer is board certified. We had also met Dr. Bauer prior to needing these services, and knew that he is one of the best veterinary orthopedic surgeons in the nation. Other surgeons may charge slightly less for their service, but none have the quality, skills and long history of high quality experience of Dr. Bauer. We opted to go with the best, and we are glad of it. Upon opening the elbow, Dr. Bauer discovered that the break was quite complex, some shattering had taken place and was demanding to repair. Nowhere can you find a better, more dedicated staff and surgeon.

The staff and doctor really care about your pet. The girls make sure that (you) are comfortable, as well. Doc called the evening of surgery. Staff called one week later. Was told to give a kiss to Chloe, from them. Before being discharged, they took time to go over everything and was not rushed. Came home with a bag of meds, bed pads, etc., as well as instructions and color photos of Chloe's knee and x-rays, before and after surgery. I highly recommend Colorado Canine Orthopedics. My husband and I thank you....and so does Chloe.

We took our cat, BB, here several years ago when he was hit by a car. They did an excellent job of taking care of our cat. Just a few days ago, we took our 4 month old puppy, Mystic, here with a broken leg. It was sad to see her in so much pain. The doctors and staff are very caring, affectionate and knowledgeable. They did surgery within hours and our puppy is doing great today. Thanks so much!

I had a scary experience with my little dog Lucy. After two weeks of unsuccessful treatment for a back problem from two other veternarians, I was referred to the emergency center and Colorado Canine Orthopedics. Lucy was operated on on a Sunday when Dr. Swainson was told of her condition and thought she needed immediate surgery. It is two weeks later and my puppy who was paralyzed is walking and recovering. The staff is very concerned and the Doctor returned my phone calls and squeezed me in if I had concerns.

This is a canine orthopedic clinic. Dr Bauer was extremely compassionate and understanding. When we called and asked about cost, we were told to bring her in for care and not to worry about cost first, that they would work with us. The doctor then mapped out a treatment plan that was conservative and well thought out. We were not pushed to do something drastic and expensive first as another vet tried to do. We were very impressed and happy with the care our girl recieved.
