They experiment to see if they can do it and if your pet is damaged in a process, who cares, it just an animal. When you see dr. Davis you think she's been practicing vet medicine forever, yet she's freash out of vet school. She might know how to spay/neuter or treat mites without killing your pet, but she can't do anything beyond that.
