6/1/18   5     4     5     5   My 11 year old doxie needed dental work and we noticed all the great reviews that the Donlands received so we decided to take him there. We are glad that we did because 4 weeks later and he is doing great. Doctor Ben was very informative, thorough, reassuring and professional. The price was fair also. I will take my little guy there again. RID: 66248
Click to report rating    3/17/18   5     4     5     5   Dr. Behzad Farokhzad (a.k.a. Dr. Ben) has been our vet for the last five years for our dog Rosie and our cat Max. Dr. Ben does not push unnecessary treatments or try to sell you things. He offers expert, non-judgemental care. Our bills were far less than at other clinics too. Today we had to put our Rosie girl down due to non-operable cancer. Dr. Farokhzad was patient, kind and reassuring during this heart-breaking procedure; staff were great too.Hugs were offered and gladly accepted. We did not feel rushed at all. Simple gestures make all the difference at such a horrible, sad time like this. Donlands is not a "fancy" vet clinic, so if that's what you are looking for you should look elsewhere. But if you are looking for excellent care from an animal-loving doctor who is realistic and fair, I would highly recommend Donlands and its owner/operator Dr. Farokhzad RID: 65777
Click to report rating    7/18/17   5     4     5     5   Dr Ben gets straight to business and does his job remarkably well. He gives a lot of info, feedback and suggestions that you would not get elsewhere. His prices are also much lower than in Leaside for example. The premises may not be luxurious at first glance (reception area), but the clinic at the back is all it should be. The receptionist at the time was super helpful and even called me back for exta info I did not request. Great place. RID: 64201

5/15/16   1     3     4     2   The staff are rude and hard to deal with. They (receptionists) don't seem to want to help you or answer your questions (very apathetic).Dr. Ben was pretty good with my cats.He performed successful dental surgery (cleaning & extractions) on both my cats, but he never knows who I am or anything about the cat.I have to remind him of our conversations each time. It's like it's a brand new visit every time. Also, you can never talk to him outside of seeing him at the clinic.I know vets are really busy, but any other vet I've gone to would call me back if I had an urgent question, etc. - but not Dr. Ben.You always have to go through the rude receptionists. It's beyond aggravating. Also,be warned,he takes time off.He was away for about a month when my cat was very ill.He had one back-up vet who would come in once/wk for coverage. Also, for about 13 days, he didn't have ANY backup vet.It was really upsetting as my cat was very sick. His dental prices are a little cheaper, but other $$ are $$$$$.  10/14/15   5     5     5     5   Dr. Ben being is a busy veterinarian with many patients who might only see someone once in a while and may need reminding but common you cannot make him out to be a bad vet because you were emotionally charged and wounded probably even hysterical over the situation even. He is a great vet and will continue to be my pets veterinarian as long as he is in practice or they are with me, whichever comes first. . I disagree with those who say he is rude or impatient or that he has bad bedside manner. First, many people dealing with a sick animal already feel wounded and upset, sometimes even they are hysterical, just waiting and looking for something else to be upset about and lay blame. Still I trust Dr. Ben with my 2 dogs (3 and 6 Both females both successfully spayed by Dr. Ben no issues) and my cat (3 neutered by Dr. Ben absolutely no complications), all of which get very good care from him and yes he remembers the names of my pets, we see him regularly and not only when sick, A+ Vet RID: 58682

1/27/15   5     5     5     5   By far the best vet I have ever been to (in my 35 years of owning pets). The staff are friendly. The vet is amazing. And the price is affordable! When my cat had an infected abscess, I couldn't afford what my vet wanted to charge so I looked around and this vet was by far the most reasonable. I was super impressed by the care and quality of Dr. Ben that I immediately switched over my dog as well and we have been going there ever since. There are vets that are in it for the money and then there are vets because they genuinely care about animals. Well Donlands Animal Hospital is genuine! RID: 55654

1/27/15   5     5     5     5   Dr Ben (Dr Farokhzad) takes care of my 3 shih-tzu puppies, he shows so much love and compassion towards them. The staff members are knowledgeable and friendly, and are also amazing with my dogs. My dogs had encountered food allergies, and they were quick to fix the issue. The clinic is inexpensive, clean, and I am always greeted with a smile. If you are looking for an amazing doctor, great staff, and inexpensive prices, Go see Dr Ben!! RID: 55653

7/31/14   5     5     5     5   The first time each of our dogs met Dr. Ben, they liked him! That says a lot. He has always provided excellent care, at reasonable prices. He recently even came in on a Sunday to deal with a big problem with one of our dogs, with no extra charges! He personally followed up, even though an advanced treatment was required elsewhere.  7/9/14   5     5     5     5   Dr. Ben is thorough, professional and courteous. After years of gouging of local vets I decided to shop around and found Dr. Ben. His prices are significantly below what I had been paying. I have been taking my dogs there for years and have had only positive experiences. He did have a rude receptionist but I think she is gone now. I am surprised by the negative reviews by several people. I think perhaps his accent and factual manner may be taken the wrong way. I also have heard some people being quite rude to the receptionist, so perhaps these are the people rating him. I highly recommend Dr. Ben. Judge for yourself and you'll be glad you did RID: 52465

10/8/13   5     5     5     5   My first encounter with Dr. Ben was, unfortunately, a sad one for my family, as he diagnosed my 6 year old calico with Feline Leukemia. After all of the testing and treatment for her severe anemia and dehydration, we made the painful decision to end her suffering. Dr. Ben was very compassionate. He didn't even charge me for some of the care she received. I have since moved well out of the area, and we still see Dr. Ben now regularly for our other cat and he has been wonderful and reasonably priced! His staff is also very informative and friendly. I would definitely recommend this clinic. RID: 47517

10/7/13   5     5     5     5   My dog required a 2nd cruciate surgery a year after his first. The first surgery cost $5000 at another vet and I could not afford $5000 again. Dr. Ben gave me a great deal that I could afford and treated my dog like his own. The surgery went perfectly and he met with me in the weeks after to monitor his progress and pain level. It was very refreshing to meet a vet that truly loves and cares about animals and is not in it for the money. I would recommend Dr. Ben to anyone and am happy to say that Tyson is 100% in both legs now and we couldn't be happier! RID: 47466

10/7/13   5     5     5     5   After searching a long while for a vet that both myself and my dogs were comfortable we stumbled upon Dr. Ben. Let me say this the prices are amazing but he is even more amazing. My dogs are not the easiest going and can get very anxious especially at the vets. He made them very comfortable and helped them relax by talking to them instead of just trying to get the appointment over with like many of my previous vets would do. He takes the time to explain things to me further and would even call me back late sunday nights (the clinic is closed on that day) to answer questions if I was having a problem with one of them. I will continue going to Dr. Ben and strongly recommend anyone searching for a new vet to look into this clinic... amazing RID: 47464

7/16/13   1     1     2     1   Despite coming here regularly, I have been treated very rudely by the vet and his ever changing, unprofessional, rude staff. He never checks his records, has no idea why I am there when I have booked an appointment, does not take the time to listen or even check my dog out, and always asks me "What do you want me to do?" but I pay HIM to be the expert - I am NOT a vet! The last time I went he told me as soon as I walked in the door "Yes, what do you want, I am expecting a call", and tried to get me out of there ASAP yet I had booked an appointment and showed up on time, and this was 2 hours before closing! My dog has allergies - he would not look at her, did not examine her, said there was nothing he could do, & tried to walk me to the door. I had to force him to answer questions about her condition, ask to at least try some basic medications for her. On top of all this, her condition may have been caused by him double vaccinating her! His staff never know when he will be there, either RID: 45616

6/8/13   1     1     1     1   You get what you pay for. Dr Ben is rude, dismissive and ignorant. He doesn't have any techs on staff, and the receptionist that has been there the longest is not knowledgeable at all. I feel rushed the second I walk in the door. He rushes through appointments and doesn't take any time to answer my questions. I recently had two 6 month old kittens spayed here. They were perfectly healthy and had all their shots. After the surgery they both fell extremely ill. The doctor didn't even know what was wrong with them! Unfortunately one of them passed away from the illness. The other just barely survived. I can only assume they got ill due to poor sanitation techniques. I can't think of any other logical reason. Pay the extra money at a reputable clinic. This clinic is the lowest of low in Toronto.  5/2/13   1     2     3     1   took my dog there because was not eating. vet recommended xray, blood work and meds. presented me with a bill of 700 without ever mentioning costs. had to pay for the xrays and meds - 350. told him to hold off on blood. when i called back to get him to process blood, he said it was only good for a day, would have to go back. don't waste your time / money going to this clinic. the vet's bed side manner is nothing to be desired and communication is obviously not their strong point. felt duped and taken for a ride.  3/22/13   1     1     3     3   Taken my dog there 5ish times for the low prices. Each time we visit, it is like we have never been there.. they don't seem to keep records or have anything automated. Be prepared to keep close track of your own dog's meds etc.. Last visit vet prescribed med and printed dosage on label. My wife scrutinized the manufacturer's instructions and wondered why vet had prescribed 5xs the recommended dose. She called vet, pointed it out and was told to ignore manufacturer's instructions.. she persisted both with secretary and vet until after much arguing they realized that in fact, they had made a mistake. Vet then called back 10 min. later to make absolutely sure we did not give the dose he recommended!! Had my wife not been so careful and persistent, this 5xs dose could have killed our dog from cardiac arrest. If you love your pet, be careful, don't blindly trust anyone. I too enjoyed the low prices, but this vet needed to be convinced he made a mistake..that is carelessness/arrogance. RID: 41232

3/20/13   1     1     1     1   TERRIBLE! Went here because of the prices, but i guess you get what you pay for. Brought my cat here and Dr.Ben was very rough with her, he was giving her a shot and jabbed the needle in her an when he pulled it out medicine went all over her neck. Today was my worst experience yet, booked an appointment for my dog to get neutered. Called a few times to get prices and every time the price changed, but we got a price of 300+ tax. They told us bloodwork was optional and most clients dont bother if the dog is healthy&young, so we signed the consent form not to do it. I wanted to ask Dr.Ben his opinion just for reassurance, i asked if it was REALLY necessary he said "Yes of course, your dog could die without it, but that doesnt matter you already signed the form" Angry with that answer, i decided to go with the bloodwork, they did an estimate and the bloodwork came to 225 and total was 650! I decided if i was paying that much to go somewhere who will do a better job! Dont go here please! RID: 41199

Click to report rating    9/4/12   5     5     5     5   Awesome clinic, reasonably priced and I walked out felling like my cat was quite healthy, unlike the lasrt clinic where the vet had me feeling like my cat was at death's door. RID: 37004
Click to report rating    9/1/12   5     5     5     5   We love Dr Ben! We first found out about Dr Ben through a referral from a friend and we have used his mobile service. We find him to be very knowledgable, accommodating, compassionate, friendly and very kind and gentle towards our dog. We have several vet clinics in our immediate neighbourhood but we choose to drive 40 minutes out of our area for Dr Ben. We have referred some of our friends to Dr Ben and they are also very happy with him. Dr Ben is very approachable and he takes the time to talk to us about all of our concerns, about our dog, before we leave his office. Every time we leave his office, we feel very good about the level of care that our dog is receiving from him. Dr Ben has very good pricing and he helps make owning a pet afordable. We highly recommend Dr Ben! RID: 36939

Click to report rating    3/16/12   5     5     5     5   Based on my overall years of experience in taking my pets to vets - Dr.Ben has to be the best vet I have come across in Ontario. He takes alot of time to explain everything with you regarding your pets health, procedures and outcomes. There is no mystery when it comes to the care of your pet and also he is very caring as if it were his own pets. As others have said in the past he answers the phone at all hours, will be there if you have an emergency, do house calls and is more than reasonable with pricing. Almost too generous! You can tell that be genuinely cares about what he does in life and for the care of other peoples pets. He has a big heart and I intend to take future pets to him for care even though I now live an hour away from his office. I am very happy with the care my pet received with him and recommend him to anyone looking for a great doctor. From one animal lover to another Dr. Ben is amazing!! RID: 32945

Click to report rating    2/26/12   5     5     5     5   After a bad experience with a different vet in the area we switched to Donlands Animal Hospital on the recommendation of a friend. On our first visit we found out that my older cat had hyperthyroidism which explained why she was so thin. Our old vet couldn't even get her to stay still to draw blood and at Donlands Animal Hospital they were able to draw blood with no problems. We got her on thyroid medicine and she did great. One year later she developed some growth that turned out to be a tumor. With her age she wasn't a good candidate for surgery. Dr Ben was absolutely wonderful throughout the whole process, from investigating the initial growth to finally determining that the growth was cancer. He always presented us with several options and gave us time to discuss it.he also recomended usvisit specialist for chemotherapy, unfortunately because of the cost of chemo and her complications we decided to euthanize her. Thanks again to all staff and Dr. Ben. Click to report rating    2/14/12   1     1     1     1   Yesterday, I brought my puppy into the clinic to get his booster shot. Dr Ben started out with an exam. Tested his temperature and then proceeded to listen to his heart. He put his hand on the puppy with such force that my puppy collapsed onto the examination table and let out a loud yelp. Then Dr Ben forcefully turned him over onto his back to get to his heart. My puppy was so scared it relieved himself on the table. Is this the proper procedure? To use so much force? Dr. Ben was not pleased and said, “Take your dog, I can’t do this for you today” So I left with my puppy, but he was traumatized and distraught for the rest of the day. Scared from the whole ordeal. Please don’t take your pets here. He’s not patient and not gentle with little animals. RID: 32209
12/1/11   5     5     5     5   I originally brought my dog (1.5yr male Weimaraner) to this office on a recommendation from a family friend. The service is excellent and very courteous as to be expected. However, the real test came when my dog sustained a terrible injury to his paw. They treated my dog with the utmost level of care and followed up regularly until he was back to 100%. Every step of the way I was kept informed and prepared by the doctors which did a lot to reduce the stress of the situation and alleviate my fears. Dr. Ben and his staff are fantastic. I consider myself very fortunate to have found them. RID: 29504

11/20/11   5     5     5     5   Absolutely great vet, I was refered by one of my friends while desparatly looking for a surgen to fix my dog's brocken leg in April 2010, we were very lucky that finally found donlands animal hospital.Dr. Ben did the surgery on Milo's femur as soon as we got the clinic on Saturday morning, the surgery went well and we were charged almost for 2/3 of the price we were asked before. We realy love Dr. Ben, although recently the fees are going up!      11/12/11   5     5     5     5   My senior cat took a turn for the worst in a matter of 12 hours. I came home on a Friday night to find him in a horrible state. I called around to emergency clinics (Friday, afterhours) and somehow managed to call the Donlands Veterinary Hospital (they are not afterhours). I am NOT a client of this clinic yet Dr. Ben who had already left and closed the clinic told me that he would drive back to work to meet me so that he could assist me. Unbelievable! Dr. Ben - if you read this - thank you for kind heartedness and making a very stressful situation easy on me and my daughter. I appreciate your compassion and that you went out of your way to help complete strangers. RID: 29053
Click to report rating    11/9/11   1     1     1     1   I got my dog neutered here yesterday, and they did a VERY POOR job. I had to bring my dog to a different vet today as an emergency because he couldn't stop shaking and crying, and couldn't move- they said he had SIGNIFICANT swelling and bruising, and that the trembling/shaking was not normal for the next day. DO NOT GO THERE. It is cheap for a reason!!! They also told my sister that my dog was so "BAD", yet he was more than well behaved with today's vet, even giving them kisses. Not once did he try to bite them. The staff at Donland's were very rough with him putting the cone on, my sister had to tell them to stop because they were exerting so much force onto his EYE!! They then took him away and told her she couldn't go with them, and came back with the cone on. God knows what they did to him- they wanted to sedate him to get it on but apparently it didn't work! Oh and by the way- he's like's an 18 lb Jug; so just a small dog. RID: 28975
Click to report rating    10/19/11   5     5     5     5   I will be taking my new dog to this office. My last Golden Retriever was cared for by Dr. Ben when my vet was not available. Approx. a week after Dr. Ben had seen Rainy, he called me at home to see how she was. Rainy was not even a regular patient of his, and he took the time to call me and inquire about her health. Click to report rating    6/21/11   5     5     5     5   I highly recommend Donlands. I have never been one to write these types of reviews, but my satisfaction with this vet clinic has motivated me to spread the word. I did a lot of research before chooing Donlands. They had one of the best prices in the city and the reviews looked pretty good online. I have to admit I was a little aprehensive about the clinic before I went (it doesn't look like much from the outside), however after our first visit any hesitation was gone. The vet (a new female vet) was absolutely fantastic!! She really took the time to talk with us, give us helpful information, and even go out of her way to put us at ease about our sick older dog. We will continue to take our pups here - they really are a great clinic! Again, I highly recommend Donlands. Their facilities are "minimalist" :), but there services and prices more than makes up for the lack of asthetics. And really, I don't think my pups care about white walls and old chairs. RID: 25740

4/2/11   5     5     5     5   What I can tell you is that Dr. Ben comes from the heart. I have 3 cats and he is been great with all of them. He is kind, caring and compassionate. Click to report rating    7/20/10   5     5     5     5   This is a very caring vet. He went above and beyond what most vets do in terms of investigating what was wrong with our cat, (didn't even charge for certain services) and he was very realistic about our options--without pressuring us. Sadly, our little guy had too many problems, and the prognosis was not good. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this vet. RID: 18871
Click to report rating    6/23/10   5     5     5     5   This vet is amazing!! He is super friendly and his prices are excellent!! I travel an hour to see him and an hour home because he is so great! I take all of my animals there (3 cats and a dog) plus all my rescues!! Dr.Ben is great, he has great compassion for the animals and doesn't rush your appointments. No matter where i live, im always going to travel to see him!! P.S to the persons whos kitty died, vaccinations dont always prevent ur kitty from getting sick, it helps to lower the symptoms. You need all 3 rounds for your kitty to be fully protected as well. Chances are your kitten was already sick with whatever it died from and its possible the person you got it from lied about the vaccinations!! So please DO NOT blame the vet when you really have no idea about the truth. RID: 18517
