Dr. Ross Duncan is just likes to push medication. I asked for blood work and x-rays to be done; he said no need. just took my dogs temperature and prescribed gabapentin. He hardly even looked at my dog, only in observation room 5 minutes. My dog just got much worse. l called this clinic left messages but no one called me back. I had to go to vet clinic and they refused to see my pet. Just said that l could make an appointment later next week. This is totally unacceptable; stay away from this clinic.

We have been taking our cats in to see the wonderful vets at Sunridge Veterinary for years. Both Dr. Duncan and Dr. Magill are great with our animals and all the vet nurses are marvelous, kind, and helpful whenever we come in for regular checkups. When we had to put our tabby down a couple years ago, they were supportive and caring through the whole trial. I've seen one of the vet techs on the floor snuggling with a large dog coming out of anesthetic to help them feel safe during a confusing and scary time. Whenever someone asks for a clinic recommendation, I never hesitate to send them to Sunridge Vet.

I've been coming here since I moved to Calgary in 2007 but have spent the majority of my time here in the last year with my sick Sphynx. I've had most of my appointments with Dr. Magill but have seen the others as well (all fantastic vets). Without knowing what was wrong with my cat, Dr. Magill always seemed to know what the next step was in getting him healthy even though it was a complicated case with what could have been any outcome. We tried several different medications (most of which helped for a period of time) and he even performed some minor surgeries to remove dead tissue from his sinuses. When he realized we would require a more complicated surgery, Dr. Magill referred me to an amazing surgeon, and still treated my cat in the meantime. You can tell that the staff and vets here truly care about your pets; they are soft spoken, gentle and smart. They care more about you getting to bring your pet home than taking your money, and I would never think twice about coming here.

I have been taking my standard poodles to Dr. Magill for 7 years now. All of the staff are excellent, friendly and caring. Dr. Magill takes the time required to understand the concerns, discuss options and does a very thorough annual exam. I live 45 minutes away and it is worth the commute. We have had the poodles in to the CARE emergency center after hours several times and each time Dr. Magill has read the discharge report before I have even called to follow up with him. When I have had complex issues he has the contacts and specialists to consult with and will refer outside if appropriate. All that staff genuinely care about the animals and act in their best interest. Just like going to my family doctor some things have been trial and error and taken time to diagnose but it has always been with a plan of action on what step 1 is and then 2 if the first didn't work. This is the reality of health care for ANYONE. I have no issue with price as I think they are very very fair.

This is a response to the previous comment. I was dropping my cat off for surgery at the same time this gentleman was here with his dog. The front end staff was very nice, and treated the dog well, however the gentleman was very rude, and arguementative. I also recall that the surgery the dog was being dropped off for was at no charge.

The way my dog was treated prior to be seen by the Vet is horrible. When he resisted, she just dragged him by the leash (was not aware that we had not left!). The treatment did not work after the 2nd try, (surgery to correct the cherry eyes) but it still cost us $800 for no results! If it was explained to us before hand that the chance of success was slim, we had not gone through with this treatment. Just felt that we were cheated!!!

Dr Magill isn't up to date when it comes to certain medical techniques that he needs to be caught up with.He insisted that our dog didn't need to be put on any type of medication after we had brought in our pomeranian who had lost half his weight through-out the past few months. He told us it was just fussy eating and not to worry. I knew it was more than fussy eating so I demanded bloodwork. Kidney disease and Pancreas disease had showed up in his bloodwork. We spent weeks and weeks going to Dr Magill and the only thing we got out of it were recipes for kidney disease we could have just looked up online. Our dog tragically had a seizure last week and was unable to recover and passed away. The vet at the vet hospital said that he was shocked that our dog hadn't been on meds and that he should have been on meds as soon as he was diagnosed. Medication would have prevented the toxins from his kidney disease to travel to his brain which had caused his seizure. Take this as a warning.

I have been seeing this vet for years. We have brought 5 of our dogs here. The staff is wonderful. Just recently my little guy was rushed in as an emergency and had to have surgery, the nurse called and gave update as they became available. The same nurse helped us when we had to put 2 of our 15 year old babies down, she was so reassuring. Dr. Maggil takes his time and answers any questions you have and has called me at home just to check in or deliver test results. They really care about both the fur baby and their two-legger. I highly recommend this vet clinic.

my vet recently retired and i was looking for a new vet so i thought we would try Sunridge vet. I was very happy with Dr McGill and his manner with the dog, he was very thorough with his exam and asked many questions. I was very impressed that he did not suggest i put more weight on my 4 year old greyhound as she is in perfect shape and competes in events on a regular basis and even said she looked perfect! (most vets try to get me to make her fat). I will be bringing my other pets there in the future.

Was very thrilled my first visit ...today I euthanized my dog of 12 yrs, I was told they should give 2 shots ? my dog received one and nothing happened ? she jumped a bit and wanted up , I yelled out help her what is going on ..they ran out to get more and injected in the other arm which worked Immediately ! I'm truly heart broken for this being such a dramatic experiance for my Dog and my self ! Don't be so sure next time ...just do what u need to do ! 30 seconds turned in to 10 minutes for my girl to move forward on her journey :(

First time took my 2 dogs in. Our old vet retired. We tried another vet but had bad experience. So we decided to give this clinic a try. Although this is not the cheapest clinic, but Dr Magill was so thorough and sincerely care about our dogs. He asked lots questions, listened to our answers and concerns and then gave us his opinions. After cleaning out our Maltese's anal glands, he gave us the surgical soap for future cleaning to avoid further infections. When our dog only needs to take half pill each day, the pills were already cut in half for us. If you looking for cheap clinic, this may not be the one. But if you looking for good service and caring doctor, I highly recommend Sunridge.

Coming from VancouverBC, looking for a Vet. Great service at front desk. A bit expensive. I did not get a chance to speak with the Vet. I was asked to leave my chihuahua for a couple of hours for vaccine, total exam and antihistamine because of my dog's allergy to shotand a return visit for another shot a week later. They did call in the specified time, but was told to pick up in 1 1/2 hour later. I would like to wait at clinic next time and meet with Vet and have opportunity to observe. Just to make sure they do what's specified. Other than that not too bad, I still think its a bit pricy compared to our Hastings Vet in Vancouver. Sorry for some negative but when the price is high. Regretfully we may need a new Vet next time.

Dr. Magill was very thorough, and informative. He checked him for everything, & explained it all as he went along. He had plaster models of a puppys' mouth, and showed me what to keep an eye out for, as well as other things to watch for in a growing dog. The staff were incredibly friendly, and knowledgeable. Also, unlike some vets, this one was very clean, and we got in right away. The prices for their services are also quite reasonable! They are definitely NOT about only making money, and genuinely care about your pet! If you must chose a vet, I strongly suggest you pick this one!

Dr Magill is informative, friendly, a great listener, and very helpful. I have been to another vet clinic before, so coming to Sunridge Veterinary Clinic has surprised me. Checking in may take a while if there are other people ahead of you (up to 15-20 minute wait). Staff has spelled my pet's name and my name incorrectly into the system (I even spelled it out for them), also calling the incorrect phone number when I have given them a new one. Other than that, I would come back again just because Dr Magill does a wonderful job. Just an added note, the cost is a little more affordable compared to other vet clinics.
