Click to report rating    8/15/15   4     4     4     1   I recently called the vet clinic for recommendations for a cheaper alternative for dog food since my dog no longer had liver issues, according to that vet. instead, the vet calls me to say that she overlooked something and we should come in for an ultrasound, get the dog on this special medication ($50 every 2 months), and we should get him fixed, luckily for us there was a free spot in a few days. I called another vet clinic and it was almost $200 cheaper to get the dog fixed at the place in fort Saskatchewan. sure, it's further, but to save $200? ill do the drive! So all in all, I only wanted the vet to recommend healthy dog food brands, and instead she calls to get me to spend $800+. made me wonder if I was at a greasy car dealership. RID: 58063
Click to report rating    6/18/13   5     5     4     4   We have been taking our dogs to Terwillegar Vet for about 18 years now - they were recommended to us when we brought home our first puppy 18 years ago. They have always been phenomenal, and have treated all of our dogs with nothing but love and care (the exception is Dr. Brooks - not a fan. He is typically brusque, bordering on rude, but ALL other staff are so caring & friendly ). When we had to euthanize our first dog, they treated us with the utmost compassion and care - the next best thing to having a vet come to your house so you can say goodbye at home. Over the years we've needed 2 emergency surgeries and 1 ACL surgery, along with the usual check-ups and minor concerns. Their caring & dedication is second to none. I have heard other vets in town charge less, but I'll never leave. The best endorsement comes from our dogs - three dogs and not one of them has been anything less than excited to go to the vet!      4/17/13   1     5     5     3   My puppy is from the SPCA and is defensive when meeting new people. Dr. Hotke was her vet for the first visit and she made my puppy feel comfortable, and even gave her shots without my puppy knowing. For her second visit, we saw Dr. Brooks, who knew my dog was timid, and defensive. Rather than allowing my dog to get used to him, he just began touching and grabbing her. I put a lot of trust into the vets I see because i am under the impression they know what they're doing. After him struggling with my puppy, he finally brought in a female (not a registered vet) to give my puppy her shots. I was under the impression he was feeding her treats while i was restraining my puppy to get her shots, but he was hitting her on the nose with a pen. I was shocked at how he was treating my dog, and then he began to say how aggressive she was. I will never take my dog back to see Dr. Brooks again. If you must go to this clinic, make sure your appointment is booked with Dr. Hotke. RID: 41836
Click to report rating    7/27/11   5     5     5     5   I had an amazing experience with this clinic. Dr. Hotke was our vet, and she along with ALL staff were incredibly compassionate, knowledgeable, and helpful. My 13.5 year old dog (been with my husband since he was 15) was diagnosed yesterday with kidney failure. After a blood panel was performed, they called in less than an hour with the results to give me the diagnosis. That day, they taught me how to perform fluid therapy at home and changed his diet. They gave me a wallop of food for Reggie to try at no charge until we figure out what he likes and works best with his illness. I couldn't be happier with my choice of vets. They thoroughly looked at Reggie's old records and even called his old vet to clarify some notes. Our other vet is in a different country and they still called. I highly recommend Terwillegar Vet Clinic. RID: 26507
Click to report rating    9/11/10   5     5     4     5   I've never encountered a nicer vet clinic! I feel comfortable asking questions, the office is clean and roomy, the AHTs and vets are friendly and treat my dog like gold, and so my dog actually seems to enjoy being there. I also appreciated the free follow-up visit and subsequent telephone follow-up for questions and concerns. If only the staff at my doctor's office were half as friendly or helpful. RID: 19686
