I have been a mama to many dogs in my lifetime and have been involved with many clinics. I have found some clinics are in it for the right reasons and some are in it for the money. Minden A.H. is the latter. Not to put too fine a point on it but, I was constantly overcharged with no results after many visits, lied to then denied it was said, treated my very senior pup in a cavalier manner and have forgetful, misinformed front desk staff. The staff turnover is alarming and the new hospital is so "fancy" it's obvious they are overcharging to pay for these design decisions which aren't necessary and superfluous to good pet care.
After several instances, I switched to another vet who has been much more attentive before even seeing my pups.
Your precious pet deserves better.

These people are sloppy and smug. If they make a mistake they’ll blame you. My latest issue is that I took my 2 rescues from Texas for heartworm prevention, which they badly need being from Texas. Minden took my money but didn’t do the tests required by the VCO to give the preventative, so now they won’t give it to me. More than 10 days later and i still don’t have it.. The clinic keeps telling me they have no time to prescribe something else. I beg them and they just won’t. They tell me it’s my fault for refusing a heartworm test, which I don’t remember doing, and there is no way they told me I couldn’t get the meds without one, because getting the meds was the entire point of my appointment.

Since the new owner, Dr. Morrow, took over the practice the experiences I have had with my pets is best that a pet owner could ask for. The staff are amazing and they truly care about your pets as if their were their own. Best vet in the area.

Dr Morrow took over the clinic a few years back and we have had nothing but positive experiences since. The doctors & the staff are very friendly and our dog still enjoys going in!

I am so relieved to read that I am not alone in my dismal evaluation of this clinic under the administration of Dr Carol Sanio. Several years ago one of my cats had strained his back leg just before we drove up from New Jersey USA for my annual Canadian family cottage vacation. ( I am Canadian I just work in the states and plan to retire to this area) I believe Dr Sanios entire veterinary philosophy was solidly based in monetary value: her staff plugged the very same tests/ x-Rays/ and SURGERY for a healthy male cat who was returning to the USA SHORTLY! They gave him a full general anasthetic for an x Ray. He was ill for the rest of the day. I was appalled. My NY vet gives a quick twilight sleep for an X-ray which is much less debilitating and much less costly. I refused the surgery ( how ridiculous) got him home where his usual vet said " leave it for a couple of weeks " HE WAS FULLY HEALED. The cost was outrageous : so disappointed to get ripped off in my beloved Canada! How is now?

I had a terrible experience the only time I went there, shortly after Dr Carol arrived there. I never gave a review I did not know of this site, I only found it today after googling the great news that Dr Carol has sold the business affective Sept 15. I want to know if it`s a clean sweep or not of the whole lot before I ever go again. She was just terrible I had a dog with a life threatening condition, it was a holiday weekend, she did not want to be there, she was wanting to go bicycling. She was the emergency Dr on call for the area that weekend but did not want to be there, she was rushing me into making a terrible decision

We had to take our older girl in, the front staff was amazing friendly and helpful, dr. Carol seemed nice at the time but very rushed, it was let's do this test and this X-ray and she needs this and we should try this, needless to say the cost of our 2 visits in less then a week was almost $1000.00, results were we had to go somewhere else just to find out our dog had something completely different then originally told by dr. Carol. I do agree with most reviews here the cost for her services are completely overpriced for the service you get. Our dog was prescribe meds that we're very costly and our dog never even finished them cause it wasn't the problem. It's to bad that this little pretty town's vet is more about the money then the animals.??one tip before agreeing to anything ask what why and is it truly necessary to be done. One more thing she does push the vet credit card if she thinks u can't pay, she encourages u to fill out for the card, she wants to make sure she gets paid ?

Just moved to town, took my pets there she charged me 700 dollars to look at them and give some medication then she told me she had my one dogs nails done free of charge. I thought that was really nice till I got my dog home and found both her paws bleeding. One paw was so bad i had to bandage it. I called them the next day and they told me to bring her in. I did and the doctor told me they didn;t do it that is was a break. I have worked in the medical profession for years and I know a break from a cut the nail had a clean cut. When I questioned her about the cut she shrugged her shoulders. Funny how both paws would have breaks right after being trimmed. Then after telling me there would be no charge she charged me another 100 dollars for a bandage on the paw and antibiotics which was THERE fault. Be warned I will never go back.

Great experience, staff was friendly, doctor was intelligent & too the point. Not a cheap clinic, but I have never found the cheap clinics give my dog very good care. Worth the money in my mind.

I was not impressed with the care my dog received. After spending a small fortune and running test after test my dog was still sick. I took my dog to another vet, and he recovered with only one test performed, and one medication. Bedside manner was poor, and not friendly at all. Will never go back

Dr. Carol Sanio is the worst vet I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. Not only is she rude to people but her highest priority is how much money she can get out of you. She does not stick by her quotes for service (all quotes she gave me were a few hundred short of the final prices she charged me). I have witnessed her first hand tearing people apart for not having enough money to live on for themselves and therefore not enough to pay her huge vet fees. She even had the nerve to give me a credit card application for another credit card knowing full well I already had a credit card maxed out on vet bills and offered to fill it in and mail it for me so I could pay her more money. Her fees are double and triple what I have ever paid other vets. My current vet is a third of her prices and much better humoured, and well worth the extra mileage and money is not his priority - my pet is! I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy to have her look after their pet.

I only just learned about this site and I am shocked to see bad reviews of this clinic. I have been using Dr. Sanio for almost 10 years now, both at this clinic and at others, and have had nothing but great experiences. In fact, I travel an hour to this clinic because there is not comparable care in my town. No - veterinary care is not cheap, but I don't expect it to be. I knew what I signed up for when I brought pets into my home. I'm happy to travel an hour and don't mind paying for good care. All of my pets have received nothing less than fabulous care and I would (and often do!) recommend Dr. Sanio and the Minden Animal Clinic to anyone looking for excellent veterinary care.

I had a huge message typed of all of the things this vet does wrong, and i stopped myself and deleted it all. Take all of the number one ratings (one DEFINITELY being the worse it gets)as my answer and thoughts of this vet as a whole. Haliburton Veterinary Services is the place to go for the best all around care for your pets.

We had occasion to take our animal to the Minden Animal Hospital awhile ago and found the staff to be friendly. In contrast, Dr. Sanio's attitude was bordering on rudeness, and we thought it to be of a very condescending nature. We left there with our pockets a lot lighter. We were charged what we thought was an exhorbitant fee for nail clipping and our general feeling was that money appeared to be the main priority. We changed vet's which was quite a distance away but we knew our pet was getting the best of care.

I have pulled all of my dogs from this clinic. We are travelling quite a distance but I will not go back to this clinic. Dr. Sanio has missed some very basic things during examinations which have been costly for us over time. Her knowledge is limited to a low level pet clinic. But she charges high prices for everything. It is almost criminal what she charges clients. We are in a small town and when you drive by her clinic she is never busy. The omnipotent vet. She drives people away.

The pets are second here at the clinic. The real value is the credit card. Her charges are very high. Dr. Sanio has an ego and she assumes that every dog owner knows nothing about their pet or their breed. You can always get an appointment because they are not busy.

Nothing is more imported here at this hospital than money. This doctor is very cold and not very helpfull. She runs test after test and no diagnosis. Every time you go there she will charge so much that is impossible to keep up paying for and when you leave your pet still have the same problem.

I would suggest that the 2nd rating was done by Carol Sanio herself as I have heard her say those very things. Not qualified for a number of situations. Basically she knows how to charge the most for the least amount of service. She is a very strong personality and if you do not follow her orders she will cut you off. The sad part is that she is not as knowledgeable as she thinks. She is building her clinic on the back of patients. Her charges are big city prices but the quality of care is limited. High staff change over and everyone is intimidated by her. It doesn't give you that welcome that a good practice does. We recently had a very bad situation arise and we waited for results of blood work only to be told that Dr. Sanio was gone on vacation. She never did call with the abnormal results and explain what the significance was for our pet. This is not just another dissatisfied customer. There is merit to our complaints.

Staff are wonderful and compassionate. Dr.Sanio is cold and has difficulty relating to families. It is her way or the highway and she is not open to new treatments, unless she suggests it. She fails to tell families that they can buy items over the counter as the products she sells are very expensive. She seems more interested in the money aspect of the vet business than relating to animal care. Mistakes are common and she is quick to blame staff as she never makes the mistake herself - so she says. Her services are pricey and she says it is because she gives good service. We have seen other vets over the years and they were better vets and their prices were more reasonable as well. Bottom line is she is not as good as she thinks she is.

Dr. Sanio and staff are always willing to see sick pets and make a point of getting my pets in when I need them. They are friendly and always helpful. They practice wellness and encourage proactive care of your pets which saves money down the road. Having a pet costs money and the staff must be paid and the cost of equipment to give your pet the best care means that services have to be paid for. I highly recommend Minden Animal Hospital and Dr. Sanio. I think they charge comparable fees and do the best for you and your pets.

Dr. Carol Sanio is more interested in getting the money for the appointment then actually taking care of the animal. She charges big city prices in a small rural town. Poor bedside manner. No personality.
