I first met Murray and Brian 22 years ago when I first moved to Vernon. Over the years, I've had 8 dogs (all rescues) and the quality of care all of my dogs get from the clinic has been nothing less than exceptional. My most recent challenge was a 5 year old dog that was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After referring me to a specialist in Vancouver to confirm the diagnosis, we came up with a palliative care plan that let my little guy live out the rest of his life in a caring, comfortable and meaningful way. All through that time, all 4 vets and all the staff were amazing in helping out, including quite a few after hour visits . I'm sure there are other good vets in Vernon but, for me, this is the only place I would ever go.

In late 2011, I took my small dog to Dr. Brian McOnie at Creekside on an emergency basis. He diagnosed my dog with diabetes mellitus, pancreatitis, anemia and liver damage. He gravely delivered the news that any one of these conditions could kill my dog and that all 4 made his continuing unlikely. With this and the news that I was of "careful" financial means, Dr. McOnie became very dismissive of my further concerns. He kept my dog for a week, put him on insulin and prescribed the Medicam food for him. My dog crashed again 2 weeks later so back we went. He kept him again for a few more days but changed nothing. This cost me over $2000. In due course, I took my very sick dog to a holistic vet who IMMEDIATELY took him off the Medicam that was setting off his pancreatitis.17 months later, my dog is alive with NO thanks to Dr. McOnie or his colleagues who should have advised me they knew little about treating diabetic dogs!! I paid for an expertise they DID NOT have and almost lost my pet!
