This review is not toward the hospital but specifically toward a particular vet named Dr. Evan Ware who misdiagnosed my dog with cancer which he eventually died and suffered dearly from Valley Fever. Signs were evident, but ignored. Dr Ware assured us it was cancer so we could only believe and trust what he said. He was my 17 yr old bichon, named Clyde and was in good health or than a disc issue which wouldnt kill him. Its been heart wrenching to know that 3 other vets, that did not know him other than a single visit by one which took time and asked if he had been checked for VF. This was never brought during the multiple visits in last months w/ Dr Evan Ware. Clyde was showing signs but was never asked to take VF test. He was certain he had cancer instead of taking extra time to really look deeper at the obvious signs that were affecting Clyde. His life was unfortunately cut short due to the negligence by Dr. Evan Ware. Pet owners might want to think 2x before going to this VET.

There are 11 vets in this clinic. I have been coming her for 18 years. Not all are good vets, many of them mis diagnos your pets..please be careful who you see. In my experience the first 3 vet names listed on the door are the best!

I would like to give a special thanks to University Animal Hospital in Tempe. Recently an extremely complicated surgery had to be performed on my Sharpei. Dr. Gus did the surgery and I can’t thank him enough all the time he spent “baby sitting” me though the 1 month recovery. The follow up care was fantastic. I have been going to University now for 8 years and seeing not only Dr. Gus but also Dr. Flegenheimer. I can’t imagine ever going anywhere else. You won’t find a better hospital or Vets anywhere.

Had an appointment with my two dogs. Even though I care about my pets, I am still on a budget and stated so to the vet whom kept trying to sell me on various items and guilting me into getting extra tests. For a standard vert visit for parvo shots, with visit charges and add ons, came to over $400. Got rabies shots that weren't needed. Reception told me that I couldn't prove that I had them before i got them so I had to have them. Told them I didnt have to prove anything to them. then they told me that I should have been able to tell by the amount of shots. My fault. So, I was out at least an extra $150. Wanted so bad to believe in this facility, but they left me penniless and angry over the treatment I received.

My dog was hit by a car. They got us in right away. They treated her with the best of care. Dr cprtes is great. They were open late hrs and would go back in a heartbeat. Switching to make this place her regular vet.;-)

Dr Guss is the best vet that I have ever taken my dogs to. He's very caring about the animals and gentle with them. Also he knows how to make my dogs feel secure and not scared of him. Also one of my dogs is rather large and he is not afraid of my dog like other vets have been. Dr. Guss gets a 5 but the women at the front desk get a 2.

We have been taking our dogs to University Pet Hospital for approximately fifteen years. Over these years, we we've come to believe the staff (including the veterinarians) are the most professional and caring group of animal caregivers that we've encountered in the greater Phoenix area. We highly recommend their services and professionalism.
