Dr. Punia is the most caring vet I've ever taken my dogs too and he does his best to keep costs down. There is a wait quite often, but he is walk in as well and will take an emergency if you are there for non emergency. Dr. Punia does get distracted sometimes, but it has never affected the care of our dogs. He will sometimes do a lot of double checking when prescribing meds as he tries to get the best possible treatment. The first time I met him, he took a good deal of time to show me how to clean my dog's ears and didn't charge me anything. I didn't ask him to do this, but he said my dog had a lot of debris in his ear as he went swimming a lot. Our enduring spirits were euthanized by him and he was very gentle with each of them, but of course he has to keep a professional distance or he couldn't do this kind of work. He has a wonderful sense of humour and both we and our dogs like him very much. RID: 64625

Click to report rating    4/24/13   4     4     4     4   Dr. Punia is a extremely caring & understanding veterinarian! He has been my dogs vet for many years and is by far the most reasonably priced and best surgeon around. My jack Russell terrier is almost 15, still has tons of spunk left in him because of having such an amazing vet caring for him. Very honest and trustworthy. I have never doubted any of his medical decisions. I've also referred many people with their animals over the years and never heard a complaint from any of them. Kudos to Dr. Punia & his well trained staff! :) Yours Truly, Kelly & Rocker!! RID: 42030

Click to report rating    11/14/11   5     4     5     5   My cat Skittles pulled and acne pad out of the garbage and decided to lick and chew on it. She became extremely wobbly and then collapsed and wouldn't move. I rushed Skittles to Dr. Punia's office and he promptly took my Skittles into his care. While he was working on Skittles, his wonderful assistant Jennifer kept me informed all along the way. They put Skittles on IV fluids and ran some tests. The doctor treated Skittles and within 2 days she was back to normal and running around the house. Dr. Punia and his staff were so helpful and caring during this scary ordeal. I cannot thank him and his staff enough for taking care of my Skittles. I would highly recommend Atlantic Animal Hospital to any pet owner and I do just that to all of my family and friends. Thanks again. RID: 29121
Click to report rating    7/5/11   1     2     2     1   I brought in my fiance's cat to be looked at when he stopped eating and seemed to have stopped using the litter box. I had called before I came in to make sure it was necessary, besides barely being able to understand him, I determined he was telling me that it sounded life threatening and to hurry in. When I arrived he refused to even touch my cat until I had filled out and signed his paper so I was left trying to deal with both. He then spent 2 minutes checking my cats belly before determining what was wrong. He was rushing through everything as if it was an emergency but when I had to stop him to inquire about cost, he then spent nearly 5 minutes adding it up. When I told him I couldn't afford that he threatened to call the SPCA and accused me of animal cruelty for not being able to afford to pay him by the next day. I will never take an animal there no matter how much of an emergency it is. He has to be the worst vet I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. No compassion. RID: 25985
Click to report rating    4/22/11   5     5     5     5   I just recently brought my dog there...I had a bad vet prior. I had my dog neutered and Dr.Punia did a great job....the girls where great, they don't try to sell you everything on the menu and I definately will be going back and I think this is going to be my permanent vet. He is a very kind Dr and doesnt come across at all arrogant or aggresive - which would make a pet owner all the more comfortable with him handling our animals. Keep up the good work and see you all soon. :) RID: 24563
Click to report rating    12/28/10   3     2     2     2   I recently brought my 11.5 yr old dog for some tests, due to heavy breathing problems. I had xrays done and he was diaganosed as having Lung Cancer. The Dr seemed very uncompasionate. He advised the best thing to do was to euthanize my poor companion. I did see the xrays, and it was my decision to do so. While waiting for the sedative to act, the Dr was in the hallway talking on his cell, as a friend was waiting for him in the tiny waiting room. The Dr gave my pet the euthanization medicatication and left the room again going to talk on his cell. No word of "I'm sorry for your loss" or giving me at least a little comfort of doing the right thing. Another thing is that the reception could not even find my file, and I have taken 3 of my animals there within 4 yrs, and I thought they keep files for at least 7. The reception was very good, but very confused of how to react when an animal is put down in front of its owner. I hope more customer service skills are learned by the Dr. RID: 21627
Click to report rating    11/6/10   1     3     2     2   After finding a stray kitten outside in the beginning of winter, I attempted to bring it to them to be looked after. The receptionist insisted that unless I would be paying for whatever the stray needed that they wouldn't touch it . She flat out refused to help this poor kitten. I ended up having to contact another vet clinic. Turns out the kitten was so dehydrated that she only had a matter of hours left. I lost all respect for this place after this incident. I understand you run a business and need to make money. But I was not looking for them to treat my own personal kitten for free. I was simply asking them to keep it alive long enough to contact that SPCA or something. I'm not sure what this vet went to school for if not to help any animal in need, particularly the young , desperate ones. RID: 20671
Click to report rating    5/29/10   1     1     2     1   I brought my cat in a few years ago and had a horrible experience. He did not have any support staff on so I had to restrain my own cat for him to collect blood from. When he could not hit a vein he insisted the cat needed to be euthanised and gave an injection of a medication that made my cat completley dysphoric and "out of it". He could not speak proper english so I thought that he had already given the euthanasia injection as he had left the room. He then returned a few minutes later with a euthanasia form for me to sign. He placed my cat on a table with rolling bars that made loud noises and spun so the cat could not run away. I then restrained my cat as he struggled to hit a vein and give the injection that euthanized my cat. :( Needless to say, this was a horrible experience and I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. :( RID: 18157
Click to report rating    5/20/10   5     5     5     5   Dr Punia has been looking after my pets for several years now. I find the staff to be very friendly and my dogs love Jen and Crystal who both have been working there since this vet's opening. I find the pricing reasonable and I never feel like I'm being nickle and dimed to death. My pets have always received excellent care. RID: 18039
