I can’t say enough good about Nelson Animal Hospital. Celeste and staff have been wonderful with my ageing golden doodle. He would not be here if it wasn’t for their help in diagnosis and treatment. Wonderful, caring, and proficient staff all around!

A few things need to be said about Nelson animal hospital. Someone you can trust? No! We entrusted our sweet girl with Dr. Celeste Bignell for over 2 years. She was diagnosed with a heart condition which we then were actively treating (so we thought) when we noticed our dog getting worse never better after many visits we decided to get a second opinion. Turns out her heart is in good shape for her age. Turns out the treatment and medicine we were prescribed could have KILLED our dog. She has a liver tumour, not a heart condition. After only 1 week of the proper treatment we are seeing some positives. We may never now be able to correct the problem because it was unnoticed. All the tests, medications, and discomfort our happy girl went through and they could have killed her. I could have killed her by taking her back because you’re supposed to be able to trust your vet like any doctor. The last straw was when I was handed back a dog who was bleeding down the techs lab coat, she didn’t e

Completely unprofessional, uncaring and rude staff. Spent thousands of dollars here and was treated abysmally. Not only that they treated our good friends like garbage and cause extended suffering for their beloved dog. The owner should be ashamed for hiring such uncaring Dr’s. Unfortunately the choices in Nelson for good vets are few and far between but have good luck in Castlegar.

So happy with the emergency help for our dog after she ate poison!!They are excellent.She was carefully and quickly treated and recovered to be a happy healthy pup. Thank you!

Animal lovers - please read this and consider before you take your family to Nelson Animal Hospital. I took my precious dog here, who meant everything in the world to me after moving to Nelson with my family. She was diagnosed with kidney disease about 18 months ago. Wanting to have vet care in Nelson that was honest, genuine, and completely devoted to the best of the animal (which is much harder to find in the vet industry than it should be), I was told by an out-of-practice vet from around town to try this clinic. The veterinarian we saw recommended a tracheal wash (surgery) after my girl developed a horrible cough, which was the result of water in her lungs. My girl had an infection in her body whether this was due to the tracheal wash or something that had been going on before, I do not know for sure. My girl became very sick and unwilling to eat, I brought her back immediately and the same veterinarian basically through up her hands and said she didn't have an infection bec

I don't know about Dr. Jones, as far as I know he is gone now and Celeste Bignell has taken over. I have nothing but great things to say about Nelson Animal Hospital. Front staff is amazing and so are the vets. Both Dr. Gagnon and Dr. Bignell are just lovely. I've dealt with Dr. Bignell for the most part and she is just so great, both on a personal level and as a veterinarian. She truly loves animals and this shows. I have only ever experienced this vet helping me save money, not taking advantage of my finances. Thank you Nelson Animal Hospital! You have a great reputation among our community.
