Click to report rating    12/5/18   5     4     5     5   Can't get a much better vet than Ian Sandler. He was the Dr. to my orange tabby and then my Shih Tzu/Maltese X. No other vet had checked my dog's eyes for chronic dryness (a condition common to the breed), even after I complained of the discharge, thinking it was allergies. Ian Sandler raised the question and the test was positive. Simple eye drops cleared up the issue. Thanks to Ian Sandler and Rosedale for making my furkids happy and healthy. RID: 67085
Click to report rating    2/28/18   5     4     5     4   They say that only unhappy customers write reviews. Mine is a happy story and I thoroughly recommend this clinic. Drs. Sandler and Davidson looked after my 18-year-old poodle through cushings disease and even made his eventual passing a kind and bearable event for us. Now, our two-year-old golden doodle is well cared for by this extremely responsive and caring team of doctors and technicians. They have our confidence. The front desk and telephone response teams are friendly, informed and do a great job for us, too. RID: 65668
Click to report rating    10/8/15   2     5     5     1   I called at 7:30 AM, because my cat swallowed a piece of dental floss at 7:15 AM. I was told by the Receptionist to bring her in at 8:30, when a vet would arrive. I expressed concern about waiting for a vet when it should be dealt with right away. When I arrived, a Technician said they needed to take xrays, even though I said I was pretty sure it would still be in her stomach. A vet arrived at 9:15 and asked had she eaten because they couldn't see anything in her stomach. The vet made two or three calls to other vets to advise what should be done. The emergency vet down the street said I could bring her there right away for a scope, but it may not work so I should watch her over the next couple of days and if she was in distress I should bring her in for emergency surgery. I should have been told to bring her into the emergency clinic, where they could have dealt with it in a timely matter. The bill was $600. RID: 58630
Click to report rating    9/18/15   3     4     3     2   It can be difficult to establish a relationship with a specific vet as most seem to be part time. It always felt expensive to me but I have no basis for comparison. I don't think it's any more or less satisfactory than dealing with a doctor's office. RID: 58450
Click to report rating    8/12/15   3     4     4     3   Dr. Sandler is a lot of sizzle but no meat. Has limited knowledge; other vets like Dr. Godina are great! RID: 58023
Click to report rating    12/10/14   5     5     5     5   We have changed vets many times; we've been taking our cats to the Rosedale Animal Hospital for over fifteen years now and we are very happy. We've never had a problem, ever. RID: 54953
8/22/14   2     3     2     3   I have been going for several years. Mostly satisfied...never walk away feeling great about the service but never bad. I find it a bit pricey. Parking horrible (but to be expected). I like most of the vets. Front desk staff are not my favourite. RID: 53204
7/14/14   1     1     1     1   While giving him an anaesthetic needle the dog bite the vet. No Muzzle? They then called animal control who was concerned about rabies? Don't the vets have the vaccination records? How can a vets operate like this? AVOID AT ALL COSTS. RID: 52569
Click to report rating    5/29/14   5     5     5     5   Phenomenal care of our beloved dog for 16 years. Warmth, compassion and love. RID: 51841
Click to report rating    7/19/13   5     5     5     5   Two very satisfied clients. We have been with the Rosedale Animal Hospital now for roughly 15 years and have never had any complaints. RID: 45701
Click to report rating    5/23/13   5     5     4     5   Dr. Rich Medhurst & Dr. Ian Sandler are EXCELLENT vets. They truly care for the well being of their patients. We are so used to OHIP and medical insurance paying for our medical appts. and procedures that many people think vets should be almost free. Imagine how difficult it is to treat a patient who can't tell you how it feels and where it hurts. Like treating a baby. Would absolutely RECOMMEND either doctor. I have it dealt with the other vets there. I brought my dog there when I first picked her up and remained a faithful client for 13 years even though I had to travel many miles to get there. RID: 42654
Click to report rating    2/14/13   4     4     4     4   I had my two kitties neutered here recently. Great job, and really nice staff. Fortunately, the cats are ok since they react really badly to any vaccines and to chemicals like anesthetics, but they seem as good as gold. Vets also let me neuter them though they hadn't had a booster resp shot yet :) RID: 40413
11/15/12   2     5     5     2   I took my dog in for vaccinations and I mentioned/showed the vet a skin blemish on my dog's left side. She said it had noticed it, it looked unusual and suggested a biopsy. This was a test on my part. The truth of the matter the dog scrapped herself running in woods and tho it healed, fur had not grown in yet. AND THE VET PUTS FEAR OF BIOPSY SUGGESTION?? ANOTHER time vet gave my dog a pain killer, 3 hours later i am calling why do is in pain still? Needless to say dog passed away shortly thereafter and when I asked for the dog's medical file, in there I noted she wrote , OWNER difficult, just called to inquire why dog still in pain after giving dog pain killers. I SPENT UP TO THAT DAY ABOUT $3,000.00 AT THAT VETS for a HUGELY MISSED DIAGNOSIS that the VEC clinic diagnosed within 1/2 an hour. FOR VACCINES I WILL USE THIS VET FOR PAIN OR SERIOUS ISSUES WITH PETS, STAY AWAY!!! RID: 38509

5/8/12   2     2     5     2   Vets are pushy and like to over-prescribe. Don't get sucked into a lot of pricey tests. Do your research and homework before agreeing to tests, meds, etc. RID: 34081
Click to report rating    4/24/12   1     3     3     1   Let's just say that the vets who practice here didn't graduate 'top of their class.' Three vets looked at an X-ray of my dog's spleen and said they didn't see an issue. Less than 2 weeks later, he had to have an emergency splenectomy. Their veterinary knowledge and skill set is lacking. I agree with everyone else - they're very skilled at billing (read - overcharging) for their knowledge and services, which is mediocre, at best. I would suggest going somewhere else. RID: 33746
Click to report rating    3/22/12   2     4     4     1   In the span of a few weeks I attended at the clinic three times with my dog presenting symptoms that they failed to properly diagnose relating to a condition caused by a medication they prescribed. My dog ended up in the VEC for a week as a result. The cilnic really excels at billing (the annual exam and heart worm will set you back over $500). They are well intentioned, but fall short on quality of care. RID: 33078
Click to report rating    12/28/11   5     5     4     4   We really love the staff at Rosedale Animal Hospital. Our dog was recently really sick and spend a couple overnights at the hospital. The technicians were always happy to accomodate our visits and thousands of questions. Two vets handled Maggie's case, and both were very up front with charges and expected outcomes of the treatments. Maggie is happy and healthy again! The best part is, she is still always happy to go to vet! RID: 30104
12/6/11   1     3     2     1   My pet was not feeling well and they 1) Don't provide specific possible concerns after a diagnosis 2) Will make you unnecessarily scared about the condition of your pet 3) Then suggest a wide range of expensive tests without explaining why 4) Since you are now scared about the condition of your pet you approve all tests These people are a bunch of young, spoiled, narcissistic, vets who only care about money. Stay away. RID: 29622
10/31/11   2     4     4     1   Do not care about animals at all. A bunch of newly-graduated, spoiled veterinarians who don't care about the animal. My elder cat was dying this year and when I called about euthanasia, the best they could offer was $400. Ridiculous. RID: 28720

Click to report rating    4/18/11   5     5     5     5   After years of simple annual visits my dog started having seizures and Dr. Medhurst was awesome - ran tests to diagnose and immediately referred me to a surgeon who was able to operate right away. Medhurst was constantly in contact with me and the surgeon throughout, even though there were no fees involved for him. He was empathetic and incredibly helpful explaining options and treatment effects along the way. My old dog is back to new again and I'm a big fan. RID: 24479
Click to report rating    4/14/11   4     4     3     1   Expensive - although staff are nice they overcharge - a couple of tests and blood sample for my dog and a $625 bill. I was surprised by the bill. Previous time 15 minutes for ear mites, some drops and a $150 bill. If you use them ask up front a) is what they are recommending really necessary? b) how much will it cost? RID: 24405
