Recently boarded my diabetic cat with them for 10 days. We come back to find out they did not give her 16-18 doses of her insulin. Complete neglect for an animal. Was given nothing but excuses from the "vet". Made it seem like I dropped off a 500lb tiger. Absolutely unreal. Of coarse they will be a little scared/aggressive at first. An animal in an unknown environment...go figure. You are supposed to be a professional. Unfortunately my vet no longer boards but I have had my cat left overnight and given shots and exams there and they have never had an issue properly handling her. Do not use this clinic. From a very pissed off owner.

Dr. Abbey is the best vet in the city. He is incredible and truly cares about the animals.

Love all the vets I have seen there, some have moved on over the years so we have had to switch who we see, but now we have lucked out with Dr Spence. We have vet clinics closer but we choose to make the drive to General Vet.

I had to put my 13 yr old cat down not too long ago. The staff at this clinic was so supportive and caring. They sent a beautiful condolence card to me as well. I was given options on if i wanted to be with my poor boy when he was put down, cremation options, urn options, etc. They even waved the checkup fee, which is what we were orignally there for. His bowels and kidneys were shutting down, and they had given treatment options, but respected my choice, saying it was the best and most humane option. I will continue to bring my pets to this vet. I've also boarded my 2 dogs and the same cat as above at this clinic. They were wonderful!! My pets LOVE visiting this clinic!!

The caring service by the vets and front staff is outstanding. Even though our little girl Gibby lost her battle with cancer, the people at this clinic did so much to help save her and were so caring and compassionate, we are very grateful. They made themselves available to give her shots even when they were closed, gave us full refunds for unused medications, even made a donation to the U of S department of veterinary medicine, all signed a sympathy card and surprised us with a ceramic paw print to remember our loved one. Michelle and I are touched by their compassion and caring words and actions. We will highly recommend General Veterinary clinic to anyone and everyone. A heartfelt thank you to their whole team! I have been fortunate to have found a good vet hospital in Edmonton. I have had the pleasure of having 2 excellent veterinarians care for my sick cats; Dr. Vitts and Dr Clancy are # 1 in my books. I was happy when Dr.Nash Tan left . He stressed one of my cat's pretty bad.

For the past 5 years, I have been very fortunate to have had two wonderful veterinarians at this clinic. But with both leaving the clinic for better work, I have been forced to try other vets within the clinic, and I am not impressed. The three other vets that I have recently dealt with have either not read my dog's chart properly (I had to explain things for her, and it wasn't complicated), have given me the wrong medical advice, and have tried to rip me off by asking me to have my dog stay in the clinic for an entire day to run one test that had been run the day before. Also, not one of these vets showed any true care or compassion for my dog. The receptionists are very busy, causing LONG wait times on the phone (today I waited 12 minutes to get through) and in the clinic. While there are some wonderful receptionists, the staff turnover has brought in some terrible ones. They are condescending and rude. I truly miss the way the clinic used to be.

I have to say that I love the veterinarians at this clinic, however, I have been upset 2 times now with the amount that they quote and then the actual total of my bill. I was charged $44 dollars for 2 small bandages that I would have assumed would be included in a surgical procedure. That may not seem like much, but that wasn't the only extra charge. Why all the nickel and diming? It just ruins the integrity of the business. If you are going to give a quote, include everything and then do your best to go below that amount - don't try to reach the highest quote quoted. When I phoned to express my concerns and disappointment, a staff member replied in a very unprofessional manner and was somewhat rude. I will miss Dr. Vits.

They are very caring towards the animals and their humans. The facility is always clean, they take excellent care of the sick animals. I would not hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone wanting to take their pet there. They saved my cat's life.

The General Vet Hospital is a full service facility. Some folks criticize the lack of punctuality with appointments but the DVM's will take the time required to address every concern and will not terminate an exam just because the clock says to. Our dogs have received compassionate care consistently from 'cradle to grave' and have always been happy to walk through the door at the General.

I am very impressed with this veterinary hospital! The General Veterinary Hospital is the oldest standing vet hospital in Edmonton and therefore they definitely know what they are doing. All the staff there are extremely sincere and compassionate towards you and your animal. They are well-skilled and it shows through the treatments my dog has underwent, in the end make 100% recovery. They are not overally priced. However, book well in advance if you can for appointments as this is a very popular place. My dog had an emergency one time though and they took her in right away and helped her. Highly recommend this veterinary hospital.
