2/4/15   1     1     1     1   were referred to Dr. Levine the Behaviorist. We are so disappointed, we thought we were getting help for our extremely anxious & overly excited puppy, training advice to change the bad behavior, nope what we got was pills. The company that makes the pills says pills should go along with behavior modification, but after $800 and two visits we were then told we would have to pay more for the doctor to write up some behavior modification instructions, she was supposed to work with him that was what we were told on the first visit. Also on the first visit at the end we were given a surprise a list like a menu with all the different fees the doctor charges, she actually charges $70 to talk to you for 15 minutes on the phone. Well this made sense since she barely talks to you while she is in the room, she leaves that up to her tech Deb. We had no direction for medications, no training tips, nothing we were on our own. $800 and they wanted more. I do not recommend going here for Behavior issu RID: 55772
Click to report rating    2/15/13   1     3     1     1   They were excellent when they were in Caldwell with great vets at a slightly expensive but reasonable price, but now it's all about money with no concern for your pet at all. The staff are ghouls who concentrate on getting you to spend They have become the worst vets that I have ever encountered. RID: 40450
4/16/12   1     3     5     1   I had 6 year old male Australian Shepperd. ~85 lbs, muscular & very healthy. In bizarre accident, he suffered trauma to his hip & chest. Dog displayed minor hip pain & 2 scrapes. Otherwise *fully* mobile, alert & affectionate. Dog then let out soft cough w/tiny gurgle sound at end. I knew his lungs where slowly filling w/blood. I rushed him to closest clinic. Hospital staff came to car & grabbed at him. Frightened, dog jumped to & from front & back seats. With my assurance, they put him on gurney w/o resistance. Staff strapped him down w/alarming force & tightness. I was refused entry to OR. Slimy-sounding vet refused to listen to my pleas for immediately dealing w/dog's chest trauma. gave me lengthy, patronizing & dishonest rationale for taking x-rays, running many tests & doing invasive body probes...to my dogs stomach. I protested & pleaded otherwise. I also advised not to give dog anesthesia. Vet sneered at me, tried to intimidate me & ignored me. 10 minutes later my dog was dead. RID: 33552
Click to report rating    12/20/11   1     1     3     1   I took my puppy here for a neurological consult as recommended by my regular vet. I stood at the front desk to check in for 10 minutes even though they have 5 people working behind the desk. Finally I get in with my dog for the exam. They made me explain the entire situation to the tech. The vet finally comes in and asks the same questions all over again. She wasn't even a neurologist, just a resident. She looked at my dog for about 5 minutes and the suggested that my dog have an MRI a spinal tap and a liver test even though she said everything about my dog was normal. Of course my dog didn't exhibit the behavior that I had brought her in for so she tells me to take a video and bring her back. When she left the room my dog started to do the behavior and I asked the tech to bring the vet back in and she refused. When I went to check out 3 receptionist completely ignored me. The exam was almost $200. I was floored. For what? They didn't even do anything. All they want is money! RID: 29964
Click to report rating    5/26/11   1     4     3     1   I took my ferret into emergency because he was having explosive diarrhea. Without taking a history she looked and said euthanasia. I mentioned one of his cagemates had to be put down 3 weeks prior because of ECE, so she was absolutely convinced he had it even though when he****ed in front of her it wasn't even remotely green, and other symptoms didn't match. 3 more times she recommended euthanasia in a 10 minute time frame. When I mentioned he still was strong and seemed interested in things she rolled her eyes and then said they could give him fluids and antibiotics and keep him overnight for a grand total of $650. When I said yes to the fluids and meds but I'd take him home and take him to his regular vet in the morning, again with the eye roll. For 15 minutes, fluids and an antibiotic (albeit during ER hours) I got billed $252. He had Giardia not ECE and was doing fine by the end of the week thanks to our regular vet. Terrible bedside manner, and didn't care how she upset me. RID: 25250
Click to report rating    4/11/10   1     4     4     1   I brought my dog there because she was limping. The vet checked her leg out and couldn't find anything.I finally asked if it could be her toe, which he checked and found that it was swollen.Took xrays then suggested it could be cancer and should have an expensive biopsy. When I suggested he put her on antibiotics for 7 days and then see how she was he refused and pressured us and scared us into having an expensive biopsy done. Eleven hundred dollars later and a trip to my regular vet, 7 days of antibiotics she is fine. They are money hungry and prey on you at your weakest moment. RID: 17479

8/28/09   1     1     1     1   They do unnecessary procedures even though it will cause extreme pain to the animal for additional money. I brought my Saluki there to be put down. No one even acknowledged my presense when I walked in this a blood soaked dog. Only until people in the waiting room complain for me, was I helped. My dog was taken away and for 40 minutes I had to wait in a backroom, hearing workers in the room he was in laughing. They administered a cathar, which was unnecessary and painful. A simple shot should have been give, but then they couldn't have charged more. Apollo's body was treated like garbage in front of me after he died. All of this for over $600.00! It's a terrible last memory to have to live with. Any other vet would have charged only about $100.oo and most importantly, my dog would have not been abused at his end. RID: 14028

Click to report rating    9/6/08   5     5     5     5   The staff (entire) is top notch. Our boy is in there right now after a major emergency surgery. All Vets respond to calls within ten minutes regardless of time. The facilities are state-of-the-art and you are definitely getting what you pay for. They allowed us quick visits with our boy. Regardless of the outcome I would CHANGE NOTHING with respect to the care he is being given at AERC. As an MD it has made me think more of the bedside care I offer to human patients and their families. AERC staff all have a passion for what they are doing and it shows. I know that my boy is getting the best care possible. Be prepared that the cost of emergency care is high - but the team walks you through every penny you are spending. From the receptionists to the Department Heads - you are welcomed, consoled, informed and given a realistic perspective of your pets care. This place is REAL - and really good to boot. RID: 9918
Click to report rating    8/20/08   5     5     5     5   If your pet ever needs emergency care - this is the place to go. Highly professional and caring staff - everyone from the receptionist to the vets. And, this pet hospital is cleaner than some human hospitals I've been in. Highly recommended! RID: 9723

Click to report rating    6/4/08   5     5     5     5   TO ALL MY FRIENDS PLEASE READ AND REMEMBER MY NAME WAS DUKE Hi, my name is Duke I can’t speak after all, I’M A DOG so my dad is speaking for me., On Dec 22,2006 I unfortunately was hit by car on Saddle River Road where my family recently bought a home right next to the park my favorite place. My daddy brought me in good faith to Oradell Animal hospital for treatment. After surgery I was feeling better and my prognosis was excellent. The doctors said they would take me off all medications so I became more myself. That night I was eating and feeling great. My family members were visiting me when my dad asked if my cone (u-collar) around my HEAD could be removed so I could receive much needed kisses and affection that I really needed. The nurse in the room said no problem. After my visit with my daddy, 2 young interns came into my room to bring me back to my CCU cage and my dad mentioned to them to put my (u-collar) cone back on. Well they put me back in my CCU cage with RID: 8694
